"Hello, Storm. You're just in time for the Halloween event. Speaking of which..."
Alutian clears her throat and jumps up onto a table, shooting blue and bronze sparks from her wand.
"ATTENTION, PLEASE!
The Halloween event, Fright Week, is coming up! Each house is being asked to contribute a game, a contest, or an activity of some sort for this carnival. I'm not going to pick an idea by myself and expect it to work; I want your contribution here!
Remember that this game, contest, etc. has to be playable, and relatively simple to understand and excecute. It does not necessarily have to relate to the Ravenclaw ideals of wisdom and intelligence, but if it does, it's not bad.
Please, no riddle contest or game. Ravenclaw has contributed that to an event in the past. And the Costume Contest theme has also been done before, though not by us. Let's leave these two ideas be, okay?
Well then, let's start the brainstorms rolling!"
Jumping off of the table, Alutian begins to wander around the common room, searching books of every subject for an idea of any sort.

Okay, we're desperate now. If we can't think up something good really soon here, we'll be doing a costume contest.
Costume contests aren't that fun.
Hufflepuff is doing a sort of Hot Potato with dice, only using exploding Jack O'Lanterns.
Gryffindor is doing some sort of Halloween-themed Clue game.
I'm not sure what Slytherin is doing...
and We don't have anything yet!
Anything will do, really.
Tag? A scavenger hunt? An online-version of Hide-and-go-seek?

I'll have to find old posts of mine and edit photos or something similar into them...
That might work.
We'll have a certain number of photos in each subforum and in the main forum. There will be a list of photos in the event thread...and the first person to find and quote my posts (with the HP pictures included) into one of their own in the event thread wins.
If it takes too long, I'll probably post hints.
Does this sound okay? Any extra rules or details needed?

and as far as prizes go just have a 100 gold fee or something to enter and whoever finds them all first gets the gold?

Or make the winnings half of what is brought in--the other half goes to Adonis for future prizes and guild events. Another house is planning on doing that--I beleive it was Hufflepuff...
Okay, how's this for the workings of the game?
I find a bunch of HP pictures, icons, or other symbols, and hide them in posts around the guild. Two in each subforum, perhaps?
Participants sign up for the event, but I can't put the pictures up until right before it starts so that people aren't looking for/stumbling across them beforehand and getting an advantage.
Anyhow, each person has to find the posts pictures are hidden in, quote them (into a word document is good) and then, once they have found one picture in each subforum or in the main forum, they put all the quotes into one post in the event thread.
First person with one picture from every forum wins.
OR...
I rank the pictures according to difficulty of finding them. People have until a certain day and time to find, quote, and post as many pictures as possible...and the one with the largest amount of points wins.
I'll hide some smaller house sheild and Hogwarts sheild symbols that can be worth bonus.
I think the top would work best, personally. Less chance of people tying scores. But the top might be over faster than the bottom... domokun

Let's half the pay out, this way we fundraise for the later events.
and I like the first best. We need some sort of list of what needs to be found though, since HP related pictures are all over in the guild. Maybe have a "category" of sorts for each forum. ie: fred and george in 'the care-takers office'

The White Tomb will be left alone out of respect. That leaves eight subforums to hide stuff in, two pictures per forum.
Main Forum can have pictures of the castle itself.
Caretaker's office...how about a picture of Filch and another of Mrs. Norris?
Around Hogwarts--I'll see about a picture of the Library and one of the Great Hall. That sound okay?
Halls of Learning--either teachers or classrooms.
Quidditch pitch--the pitch and perhaps teams.
Heard it in the Hallway--halls/students
Spinner's End--I'm thinking a picture or two of Snape. (This just occured to me: Snape is sort of associated with Spinner's End, and yet this forum is our game forum. I really do not see Snape playing games. Ironic?)
Event Forum--I'll leave this one alone as well, on second thought. Not very many places to hide pictures in there.
I also want to do some smaller icons for bonus points. Perhaps points to a person's house?

Thanks for helping, Miss_fawcett. I really appreciate it, though I would have liked it if more Ravenclaws turned out to help brainstorming. sweatdrop
This was to be our first real student-idea-generated event, one in which the Heads did not come up with absolutely everything and hammer the stuff out entirely by themselves. I know that school and work can demand a lot of time, but has everybody here really vanished that completely?

More help on this thing would've been grand, especially since the most I have time to do is toss in two cents now and then. I like how the game has turned out though (I just read it all in the event forum).
and I don't see adult Snape playing games much, but child Snape living in Spinner's End probably played a game of hide and seek or two with Lily...
