You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

The Dark Knight stopped. Her sword held still as she listened. An elevator was creaking down... and it was not the one behind her... She had company.

---

Clem was in the elevator with the Magi and the Ganzi,... They seemed to have ignored him... The mention of the dark knight made him silent.

---

Irwin sighed as their waterway ended. "Cedric... I can steer just fine without you yelling the directions at me... The ebb and flow of waterways is under my control, and I could feel the direction... You just made me lose concentration... I have a headache..."

((I lurve it! Maybe I should invoke my power as RP ruler to make the glow stay.

Sorry, SPI. Didn't realize it was Ephlas and Raedou to whom Clem was talking. Thought it was the other guys! xd ))

(well, it isn't like you guys gave him your names at any time... or that your guys' names are easy to spell... Valthere's gotta be my hardest one.

Hashmal means 'Angel who speaks flames' referring to her dragon-like appearance

Clem and Irwin are 'real' names.

And: Aria (arid), Vinn (wind), Fayt (fate). Mine are really simple...

Also, If I cannot post within the next 15 min, I'm done for the night...)

Ephlas had not spoken to Clem, since he was busy asking questions of Raedou and looking at their surroundings. Once inside the small elevator, however, Ephlas realized that he knew not Clem's name, or vice versa.

"Hello," Ephlas turned to face Clem. "I don't believe we've had the pleasure of an introduction. My name is Ephlas, and I must thank you earlier for aiding me... against the Mindbreakers."

((New Update. 'Mythic' [the ancient language of my choice] has been added in one of the 'Reserve' posts on the front page.))

Raedou figured that he should do the same.

He turned to Clem and held out his enormous hand.

"Raedou Ganzi. And I, too, must thank you for your assistance in our time of need... I am most grateful to you."

The elevator hit the ground with a loud and unsettling crash. Raedou limped out of the treacherous machine and began to move closer toward the sound.

There, he saw the Dark Knight.

"Behold, my friends..." he whispered to Ephlas and Clem, "The Dark Knight."

With closer examination, Raedou realized in shock that the dark knight was a female.

"Strange," he mumbled, dissapointed, "I always thought that the legendary Dark Knight was a man."

He stepped a bit forward and leaned on a cluster of stones. Suddenly, the cluster collapsed under his weight, causing quite an racket to echo through the glowing hallways.

"Damnation!" he cursed to himself.

Surely that the Dark Knight had heard the noise...

((I'm off for the night as well. See you guys tomorrow.))

Wordlessly, Ephlas stooped and picked up a handful of pebbles. It's amazing how deadly pebbles can be, when thrown with enough magical force.

"What are you doing?!" growled Raedou quietly.

"We don't want to fight her!"

"Get back here, thief!" Jaeto pushed his way through the crowd of people after the pickpocket. The thief ducked into an alley but Jaeto saw and followed him. "I order you to stop! You have no place to hide!" Jaeto shouted. Indeed, the theif had reached a dead-end and had no place to hide but it seemed that he had no intent on giving back the princess's purse.

The thief turned, with knife in hand, and ran at Jaeto. Because of his years training with the king's cadets, Jaeto was quick to react, pulled out his staff and spinning it effortlessly in his hand before resting it at a ready stance. "You have no hope. Give up now!" he demanded but the thief only came closer. "Alright, you asked for it!"

Jaeto ran at the thief, diggin his staff into the ground and leapt into the air like a catapult, landing a direct kick to the thief's chest and sending him flying. The attack was perfect but his landing, not so much. He slipped and fell on his butt after landing. He quickly got up, rushed over to the thief on the ground and grabbed the princess's purse which was laying by the thief's body. "That'll teach you for stealing from a young lady." He poked the body with his staff and rolled it over so the fiend was on his back. "Any last words before I alert the authorities?"

He pressed the staff hard against the person's chest. The thief coughed and his hood fell, revealing the thief to be a woman, not a man. She shot Jaeto a wicked smile through her bloodied lips and he blushed, partly because he didn't know whether to feel proud about catching the thief, or disgust in himself for beating a woman.

Then the soft voice of the princess charmed behind him. "Jaeto? Jaeto... There you are." Jaeto turned his head and smiled. "I got your-"
"Are you alright, Jaeto?" Cal looked up at him, inspecting for injuries.
"Yes, miss. I'm fine. I got your purse back and caught the thief." he smiled. Cal looked past him. "What thief?
Jaeto turned his head to see the female thief had disappeared. He sighed. "Well maybe it's best he ran away. I shouldn't expose a young lady to the harshness of street people... You should have seen me, though. I handled the fiend like a pro..."
Calisto laughed, wrapping her arm around his and walking him out of the alley. "Oh, Jaeto. You're making up stories..."
"No, I'm not!" He objected. "I didn't even break a sweat."
Cal smiled. "Tell that to my nose..." Jaeto blushed as they both walked back to the Inn.

Raedou's body began to tingle all over.

Not only was he 10 feet away form the legendary Dark Knight, nor that Ephlas was about to pelt her with rocks, but that he suddenly got a feeling in his stomach; the kind of feeling that alerted him, telling him that someone he cares about is in danger.

I don't like this..., he thought to himself, I hope that Jaeto didn't get himself into trouble again...

He remembered back, a good 7 years ago, watching over Jaeto as he trained as a cadet in the Favraes military.

It seemed like so little an amount of time had passed since then... but 7 years is a long time, and Raedou had not seen Jaeto since he was knighted... they merely kept in touch by writing letters back and forth.

Soon, the old Ganzi thought to himself, I will be able to see how much young Jaeto has grown... Jaeto, my friend, I look forward to out reunion...

Suddenly, he remembered what he was doing, and continued trying to silently stop Ephlas from throwing the pebbles in his hand.

((Oh? So you're saying that, since we don't want to kill this Dark Knight, we shouldn't at least be prepared to defend ourselves? The rocks are for if a fight arises - just like someone would make sure their sword is in place.

And does anybody remember where Fayt is?))

Dakon stood back and observed the exchange of pleasantries, then not-so-pleasantries, taking in the clever planning without comment.

~

Tanessa sighed. "Great, we have to walk again. Just when you think good fortune is upon us, too...." she complained. Cedric sniffed at Irwin's comment. "I'm sorry... the ride was a bit out of control, though... did you know that at one point I was literally under the raft, hanging on for dear life lest I fall into the water off the front? Again, sorry...."

Then, single-minded as she was, Tanessa began to march towards the nearest border town. Rain fell, disclosed from the Storm behind them, but no lightning followed, as usual. When the trio reached the nearest border town, a little village by the name of Grundy, they would receive the most shocking news....

~

Ephlas shrugged, but did not drop the pebbles. They rested in his semi-clenched fist, ready for use should the need arrive. "What do we do?" he whispered in reply. "Try to avoid her? Kill her? Or... try not to be killed?"

"Stop or meet your deaths!" The Dark Knight said in perfect Mythic, her only flaw being that her voice sounded like it had been unused for a very long time, and the Draon accent warped the words slightly.

Unfortunately, not many people spoke the Mythic unless they were casting spells...

Hashmal moved her blade in a smooth motion, unfettered by the gravity to an old Draon stance, the movement itself revealed that this being was a master of swordplay...

Clem fumbled about in his pack, his hopes were finding two chemicals to make an explosive with...

It was dark in the cavern, so Hashmal had no idea the shape or number of others, but she was visible easily. Her metal armor reflected the glow of the lightstones of the chamber.

---

The red guard stood aside, giving plenty of room. Aria marched in, Vinn silently moving behind.

---

Irwin sighed, "I'm sorry, It's just... Baelta was my home... I loved it there..."

---

Fayt was not having a good day. He slumped against a rock dejectedly. The Artifact was hidden well on his body, so he looked merely like an initiate swordsman.

He was exhausted, tired, and now... it was raining. Fayt groaned, some Royal Champion I am... I wish I could have a full suit of armor, like my instructor...
