"Moving is a necessary part of combat, back is just one of many directions to choose from. There will be situations in combat where moving back is the only safe option, it depends on the situation."

"True" She conceeded. "But back usually leads to being off balance."
She stood up, balancing on the balls of her feet. Slowly punching causing her hips to swing with each action. She slowly sped up. Each motion seeming to have a whip crack of power at the end. Kick were added to the flurry. Then shifting footwork. Eventually she ground to a halt. Arms parallel, held diagonally across her chest. Her weight on her back foot with her front only just touching the ground.

"That's true of any direction you move, if you only move part of you at a time. The predilection of most untrained fighters is to try to arch back and avoid a blow, that will put someone off-balance."
Gel takes a stance and begins moving accross the arena, shifting his weight, dodging left, right, back... every conceivable direction, keeping his feet under him and perfect balance.

"Acutally, I was pointing out that shortening you grip on a spear removes all it's advantages of reach and leverage," Gatz explained. "Taking a step back is often an important and even vital part of fighting. It allows you to re-orient yourself and regain you balance if yo have lost it. Of course, any movement or positioning of the legs and feet can throw you off balance if done incorrectly, no matter if it's forwards or backwards..."

"This here and.." Quint muttered to himself, his newest project just starting. On the floor of the arena now was a huge symbol, lines and words decorating the circle with a smaller triangle inside.
He backed away to the front, flipping though one of his books for reference. The arena was silent, Quint didn't want to interfere with anyone, which is the main reason behind him coming here.

Aonice was walking about the Areana, looking down on quints large circle.. She sighed and leaned over the railing.. "Your never gonna defeat morrigan if your sitting down on the ground drawing alchemy simbols..

Aonice_Mitsoku Aonice was walking about the Areana, looking down on quints large circle.. She sighed and leaned over the railing.. "Your never gonna defeat morrigan if your sitting down on the ground drawing alchemy simbols.. Surprised, he nearly dropped his book. Looking up, "I can beat her now if she were here, and this isn't even for that anyway.." He grinned, waiting for that moment when Morrigan would be back. With his book resting in one hand, and his other working on a spot of the symbol he was carless with, the arena rocked slightly, almost unnoticeable...

Aonice noted the subtle rock, quirking her eyebrow.. "When morri returnes, she will be mine.." She said with a determined tone.. "You can have her when im done"

"When you're done eh?" Quint closed his book, taking careful steps to get out of the circle, "I guess, I don't really have to prove I can beat her, mainly because I could have the first time we fought, she felt like stopping."

Aonice quirked her eyebrows.. "Well your fight went on too long anyways.. I plan on getting the point across this time.." She then vaulted over the rail and landed firmly on the tile floor, her long hair flowing after her.. She then began to walk towards him and the circle.. "You don't have to be so careful around your circle hun.." She said as she knelt down to one of the symbols, staring at it with a look of critisism..

"I must be careful." Quint said, taking a last check, "There's not much of a difference between types of an element, and that's the same with the runes. If I mess up, I could just as easily make a marble horse as blow up the immeadate area."
Satisfied with the symbol, and ignoring the look from Aonice, he placed his book on the ground, then clapped his hands together once, like always. But this time, he held his hands together, focused directly on the circle.
The tremors became a little worse, a groan coming from the earth itself.

He spoke, stopping the spell, "Nope, it's like that because the temperature the gold must change to is an approximation."
Starting up again, he closed his eyes, and the groan returned.
