*also tries* Well, my old college just let out for Winter today, meaning my IRL best friend will be gone for a while...
How goes the doctoral degree?

I'm sorry for your loneliness, old friend. I know the feeling. We had a guy quit at work, and now my ability to visit my friends for tabletop is lost till at least the new year. crying
Oh, I am still drudging along for the Master's at this point. Today was the last day of my class, and now I am off for a few weeks. Perhaps that will get me enough time to enjoy Starcraft and God of War . . .

At least it's only 5 weeks, 2 of which I'll be back home for. Oh, that's rough, especially right in the middle of everything.
Really? I must keep confusing your Bachelor degree for a Master. xp

They hired a new guy, but he has to be 'trained' and such . . . so my store manager has said he can't give me this sunday. I told him that in all honesty, the new year is as far as my hopes get. Still, today was the last day for the guy who quit, so no more of his shenanigans.
Oddly enough I beat God of War: Ascention . . . That makes the game far shorter than I would prefer. Still, with the cheats (that became active after beating the game once) it is kinda fun. Damage reduction, powerups, and a few other joyous additions.

Ah, I see. So more shifts all around. At least it won't last too long.
Beat-em-ups do tend to be pretty short (sine the originals in the genre relied on difficulty to extend play time), but I'm glad that at least has some after game content.

Yeah, but it works for now. Tonight was fairly easy since the orders just did not come in. With the roads as they are, that was just fine by me. I will do my job, but damn . . . ice and snow are not nice.
Yeah, there are good items and one handicap one. An item that will slowly degrade your life over time- but never kill you. So, you have that impetus to fight harder since you don't have much life.

I love the cold, but the only type of weather I hate to drive in in snow.
Huh, that health drain item is a really neat idea. It reminds me of the Shinobi beat-em-up for the PS2. The main character's sword was essentially a souped-up version of the Soul Reaver (devouring your own health).

The snow and ice certainly make for interesting challenges while driving. For instance, this area is hilly, so if I am unsure and need to turn around, I often have to drive to the bottom of the current hill to get enough purchase to drive back up the icy area. Momentum is my requirement.
Yeah, I love the Soul Reaver series, but I hated what they did to the sword. the idea of an overexcited sword turning on you related it to a weapon I never dared to use. The most awesome idea ever was downgraded to just being a fancy key. when I play, I try to keep the same blade all through the game- keeping a demon hunter sword all the way through to the Sarafan days!

Yeah, CT has some hills, though not as ridiculous as where you are.
I the related weapon you're referring to Soul Edge or something else? Yeah, it got so many elemental enchantments in the later games that it really lost what made it special.

Not necessarily. The sword was just a basic weapon carried by male demon hunters. It was essentially a buster sword. No powers, no fancy shite, just a HUGE blade. I liked it. ^_^ As for the Reaver, I had no problem with the idea of elemental enchantment. Hell, I love it! What got me angry was the nerfing of the blade by using it weakening the souls you obtain, and overusing it drained your own health. I mean, give me the greatest weapon possible, make it so I can't lose it ever . . . and then make it hurt me to use it for more than three swings. ugh.

I see, nice. I don't have a problem with the Ethereal Reaver (Raziel's) getting elemental powers, but the Corporeal Reaver (Kain's) getting elemental powers always seemed odd to me (both in elemental selection and the way they worked).

I will admit, logically it made no sense. To me, it only makes sense because it isn't the reaver itself that gets powered up. Instead, it is housing the emblem that imbues the power. Without the emblem, the sword has no additional powers. Kind of like adding a laser scope on a rifle adding to accuracy. Without the scope you have just a rifle. Thus, when the emblem is taken away further in the blade's storyline . . . all we are left with is the most awesome sword evar!!!

Fair enough. I never thought of it that way, but that's largely due to me not seeing the emblems as literal physical objects (hammerspace and whatnot).

Raziel's version, the spirit that was in the reaver could be inbued with elements. it was his own soul bound with Vampiric magics. The blade itself could only be itself . . . but like any car, building, lego, or toy- if you build stuff on top of it, or attach things to it, the item does seem to change dramatically. The four parts of the balance emblem may have been in hammerspace for mechanics of the game, but in my mind, they were lodged in the skull crosspiece or something. The emblem gave the enhancements to the reaver.
