"No," Luca said, "I didn't." He paused and looked around the room. "Well, maybe we should. But I hate waiting." He gave Lori a kiss.
"He wasn't hurting anything," Maia protested, but she stopped and hugged Toby instead of arguing further. "So what setting should I put the stove on for popcorn?"

Lori smiled and stroked Luca's hair.
"Tomorrow. We can put them under the tree tonight and give them tomorrow with everyone else."
"I know, I know," Toby said, accepting the hug, "but imagine all of the litter and poo he's tracking around the counter if he hasn't washed his paws recently." He paused then and pulled a Pop Secret from the cupboard.
"Uh. It just says medium." They could use all four burners at once and finish popping quadruple-time.

Luca smiled. "Want to give them some privacy?" He suggested. After decorating the outdoor tree, anyway. "I'll tell you a secret." He'd been thinking of changing the title on his car. He'd noticed how much Lori liked it. He wanted to add his name to it.
Maia put the stove on medium. "How many did you buy?"

Toby pulled the rest of the popcorn out by the handles and laid them on the counter. It took three trips.
"...a lot?"
"Sure," Lori said with a nod. There were more than enough empty rooms here to take advantage of. There were even two rooms with televisions. But should he give Luca his present tonight, or on Christmas? Undoubtedly they'd be expected to just come down and join everyone in the morning. Maybe Christmas Eve was it?

Maia watched Toby and grinned. "The animals will be thrilled," she turned the other three burners onto medium.
Luca kissed Lori's cheek. "I love you."

Stringing the popcorn and fruits was a joyous affair. It was a chance to just sit around and chat and joke. Rosie ate the fallen popcorn while Seamus and the new kitty chased rolling cranberries and those kernels she couldn't catch. The sun was setting by the time it was done, though, and Toby got up to excuse himself.
"It's time," he said ominously. "I'll be back in a little bit just, you know, seven feet tall and covered in fur."
"I have a gift for you. Come with me," Dari said, and tossed down his work to run upstairs and get Toby into a pair of shorts meant for the morbidly obese. Toby held them up rather than tied them, threw off his shoes and socks and rushed to the side room while his chest began to tug.

Maia followed after Toby, taking his hand and giving it a squeeze. She leaned up to kiss him after a moment. She wouldn't be able to give him a midnight Christmas kiss, so this would have to do. "I love you."
Lori was leading Lori to their room. "So I was thinking I could add your name to my car?"

Toby was beginning to grow pale. He could feel sweat cooling his bare skin. Regardless of this, he smiled and gave Maia a strong kiss.
"I love you too."
Dari took his other hand as the transformation began. Even Luca and Lori were bound to hear the crackling bones as Toby struggled against screaming with company. Lori's brows furrowed at the sound and he turned back. Shouldn't they be... helping or something? Luca's words brought him back, though.
"Wait, what?" A half-smile crept across his face. "Why? Really?"

"Because then it'd be our car," Luca explained. "I know how much you like it--and--" he hesitated. "I thought it'd be a good.." Way to tell Lori he thought of their relationship as long term. Maybe even permanent. "Do you want to go be with Toby?" he asked.

"You don't need to do that," Lori reasoned. If they ever broke up it'd just be a hell of an ordeal to get his name off of the title, not that he'd give Luca any trouble. Then Luca started stammering, and then just flat-out not finishing sentences. Lori leaned forward at each stop, waiting to hear more, and then there was none.
"No, I...? A good what?"

"Present." Luca looked around, anywhere but at Lori. "I just thought you'd like to share it?" He kissed his cheek.

Luca was being weird. Lori's brow remained furrowed, even if the rest of his face was soft and open.
"I would, but you really don't have to do that for me," Lori said. He was worried Luca was trying to tie him down as if he was trying to leave in the first place. "How about your own space in my closet when we get home instead?"

"You do share it. All the time. I get to enjoy it because I'm yours," Lori said. He wrapped his arms around Luca, still sort of confused. "Okay. Good." So Luca could leave some stuff over his house and maybe stop worrying about keeping him around.

Luca started to smile. "That's right," he said. Lori was "Let's go check on our friends," he invited, releasing the hug and taking Lori's hand.
