[Farskon's roll]

"Gah!" He cried out, and blasted the battering ram with his aura.

Along with the ice wearing away at the ram, and Farskon's aura.

It ruptured sending people in all directions.

The Paladin almost sighed. No joy in violence.

[Enemy defeated!]

Farskon noticed they seemed to have marched quite a distance, and had arrived at their destination.

Scribbler extricated herself from the gaggle of now-incapacitated Darkling warriors, wincing at the various bruises and light grazes. She borrowed a pen from one of them (why he had one, she didn't know) and a mostly unused notebook from another, marching onwards.

The army came to a stop quite suddenly, and she almost bumped into the person in front of her.

"...What is this place?"

Both Emma and Hrothbert stopped as the army slowed to a halt, keeping their questions to a whisper and mostly to each other...some of them were quite off topic, but who could blame them?

Farskon's eyes widened at the sight. They had been here before, but it was different somehow.

The structure was larger, the area better decorated. Different sense of fashion, but it was....the capital of the Indigo Order. The area of his trial.

"...?!"
A momentary shift in the mass of soldiers granted Scribbler proper view of what was in front of them. This building again...
With the sight came the strange feeling of a steel hand clenched around her gut, foreboding strong in the cold grip.

"Why do we keep coming back here?" she cries to no one in particular, the soldiers taking no heed of the words.

Emma resisted the urge to run and instead settled for squeezing Hrothbert's hand tightly.

He squeezed back, pulling her closer, reminding him that they could still touch.

Farskon remembered the moments that occurred afterwards, with an array of conflicting emotions, and doubt.

The trio of Sevens, pushed past the crowd of soldiers, and gathered at the front.

The third Original, was Nin, another seven. Her eyes only partially glowed suggesting she was awakened before Roland, but not before Valeto.

She cleared her throat, and called."Council members, Citizens, Magic users!"

There was a silence.

"Today you will be judged by the hands of god!"

[Caps. If Nin speaks in them. ^^;]

Here we go...

The steel hand about Scribbler's guts squeezed painfully, then let go, its cold grasp remaining. She tensed, half-expecting the building to explode in a flurry of Arcane projectiles, or for there to be an ambush from the flanks...or a ward to spring up suddenly about the capital.

It was too quiet. Far too quiet.

The reaction from both nobles was probably not the one that was intended.
Both rolled their eyes, muttering sarcastic commentary under their breath.

"Remind me again...why are we doing this?"

"Because otherwise we can't get home."

"Point taken, darling, but this is still overdoing it."

"Tell me about it."

There was a long silence, and then a lone figure stepped out.

It was the lead council member. Though he looked older than he already was.

"We...have lost will to fight....," He shuddered, as if holding down anger."We surrender."

Valeto smiled, eyes glowing pure azure."Good, ...proceed."

The leader of the Arcane Council's eyes widened in horror, and understanding. "Wait a minute!" He was silenced with an ax to the face.

"So, which one of us?" Asked Nin, impatient.

Valeto grinned."How about our good friend...Roland?"

Roland looked confused, and began to step away.

"No, no it's nothing hard Roland...." Valeto began,"Just do what we do best..."

"But-"

"It's a game," Nin added in hastily."We're playing a game."

Roland frowned, and shook his head.

Valeto gave him a look, and Roland looked scared.

Roland decided to obey, and his eyes glowed bright. With a snap of his fingers the city exploded into silver light.

Then it was nothing but dust.

"The irrevocable giving over of things to be destroyed..." Scribbler breathed out in shock, staring at the remnants once her vision returned. The wind picked up, no longer hindered by the city...and the dust flew, up and up.

At least it was quick.

But Roland...the look on his face as the city crumbled, and the looks Valeto exchanged with Nin. They were using him...why?

There was stony silence from both nobles, neither showing any reaction to the destruction before them.

Their hands were still clasped tightly, and none could hear the mental conversation that was unfolding.

Conversation was a kind term.

It consisted of a lot of screaming on Emma's part, mostly directed towards the paladins.

Farskon, stood silently, and then ran off. Unsure what to think; how could he be one of them?! Why!?

He ran off not caring where he went. He just wanted to be away from this place.

It...no, it can't be. He would not just...There was mercy, He was merciful to those who repented, right?

At least, that's what Scribbler tried to recall. Wholesale destruction was reserved for those who couldn't be saved...
It wasn't supposed to be like this.
The city had surrendered, there was no need for it...But just like that, gone.
The only explanation was that the Paladins were no longer on the right path.

This can't be real.
