Sunday.
Something happened in Sublevel F. Rows of cages stood vacant. Dozens of white creatures were missing. The air was musty and damp, like a wet towel left crumpled on the ground for days. Listless creatures prowled their cages, melancholia hung in the room so thick it was palpable.

A small cage with two small puffs crouched inside, the lock on the door had been left carelessly loose, unlatched. Faint voices could be heard in the corridor. I scooped one up, it didn't protest as I tucked it under the front of my lab coat. A rusty ladder in the corner ran from floor to ceiling and connected all the levels. I climbed up with my small charge. A dark closet met our exit, I left the trusting creature in a box, and scurried back down.

The voices drew nearer, just around the corner now. Metal clinked, the heavy wheels of a cart? Aggressive sounds. A rush of air intensified that stale odor. I grabbed the other, and ran.

Monday.
Containment breach. The muffled air-raid sirens floated up through the air ducts, panic spread as the alarm wailed upward. Rumors of injuries, a game of telephone reached my ears and I heard "Guards! Killed!" (Guards?)

Camera feeds have been blacked out in all sectors of Sublevel F. The epidemic of blindness increased, there was barely a red eye left in the facilities. Secrecy reigned. The voice of Ms. Claus made an announcement, my heart thumped painfully, an elf was singing on the floor -but nevermind, nevermind- my fear unfolded and wrapped around my throat.

I checked on my two furry stowaways. They nestled in the shelter I constructed for them, intact and safe while they slept, one delicate snowflake against another. I stayed with them for hours, until my stomach unknotted and subsided, and all was quiet in the building save for the breathing of our illegal triad.

Whoa... where am I? Last thing I knew, I was ... oh yeah. I remember carting some more crates of those fuzzy white thingamabobs into Sublevel F...

I've been up for 5 days straight now... I can't tell if i've been asleep or awake...day and night have started to blend into each other and I really can't tell anymore... but I think I had this crazy nightmare... l think I was almost done unloading the last crate when the room turned 70's disco! Red lights and strobes oh my... I felt like I was in a daze. Then I started hearing noises... like big thwomping foot steps. And screaming. crying

I think Jim and Bob were on duty that night in Sublevel F. I remember cause they always played big 2 while on their shift on their cardboard box table. Anyhow... I hoped the screaming wasn't them.

I suddenly felt really scared... the thwomping footsteps were getting closer... so I bolted for the door. But before I got there, a HUMONGOLOID white fuzzy thing with big claws and teeth roared in my face and then swung its big claw at me! eek

Next thing I know, I'm here... awake... or am I? Somebody help me. crying

WOW, death! I heard rumor that security guard Bob and Jim were killed yesterday... I guess they won't be needing la-unch anymore. How sad.

Today, we will have catering again from Woks my Soks! I hope everyone likes it... again.

I'm supposed to be back at the big house today, but I have a bad feeling about it. Elftech 247 said they needed me back on the production line as soon as possible. I don't know if I'm feeling up to doing the magick for Translocation today...I went over to Akea last night and Liam and I knocked back a few beers. I think the only reason he was able to drink me under the table was because he's about three times as big as me. I don't even remember leaving the bar, or anything else from last night; and it's probably better so...

Looks like I'll have to put myself on my own list. Then again, I always do, anyway. If for no other reason than I have to sign the blasted thing at.the.very.fracking.bottom.

Maybe I'll just hang around here for a while. Follow-up research. Yeah.

There is some seriously weird stuff going on around here, and I'm not just talking about the yodeling version of Tickle-Me Lamos we've been considering making. I heard 123 prattling something about how Jim and Bob the security guards aren't going to be eating lunch with us anymore. Oh well, more neopizza for me to sneak home in napkins.

Some kind soul sent me a bottle of pop a couple days ago. It came in by RedEx. I wish I could make out what it says on the label; it looks like the label got smeared off, probably from the melted ice around it. (There's no shortage of ice around here!)

All I could read on what remained of the label was "L-V- POT--N." I popped the cork and it smelled like ABC root beer, my favorite! So I did what any ABC root beer loving elf would do: I chugged it all down.

Mmmm...it was tasty!

Notice to all Elves,

You may have noticed the containment alarms in Sublevel F. You are advised to stay clear of Sublevel F indefinitely. Any one caught in Sublevel F will be immediately detained and punitive measures may be taken.

Thank you and please GET BACK TO WORK!

Press Release - Holiday Schedules and Spirit

User Image
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005
10:00am

This wondrous morning saw Santa Claus in all his glory, arrive at the Arctic facility's auditorium to give yet another speech to all of the workers. The following is the transcript from his highly motivational speech:

"My fellow elves,

We live in a dark world. Greed. Corruption. Panic. Hysteria. Distrust. Yet amongst all of this darkness, there is a beacon of light. A shimmer of hope. That hope is the Spirit of Christmas.

Christmas is a time for giving. All year long, those who are good have made many sacrifice and have gone through many hardships. The good need to be rewarded. Though the good generally do not need reward, for it is their own sense of selflessness to give and not expect anything in return, it is our job to make sure they are recognized.

That is why it is my singular purpose to celebrate and give back to those who are good.

I know that you've been hearing things. Rumors. Bad things going on. There are bad things going on everywhere. But not here. Not now.

We are doing what is right. We are justified in our singular purpose. To make sure every single good boy and girl on the planet gets something nice for Christmas.

I need you to stand united with me on this. Therefore, I am hereby offering double overtime for any Elf who is willing to work over the upcoming Thanksgiving break.

Thank you."

The crowd began to cheer as Santa left the podium.

(We didn't expect the Yetis to develop such aggressive tendancies when given a sample of the G-Virus. Two very curious things happened. We saw the symbiotic relationship form between animal and machine, but we also saw the Yeti gain an odd understanding of the weapon they were fused with. They suddenly knew how to use it like an expert. This is indeed very interesting; though it did result in the loss of security at the time.

Upon elimination of the problem Yetis, the mechanical parts fell from the lifeless bodies- perhaps they had nothing left to gain from their partner, or perhaps there was another factor at work. We will be looking into ways to implement this technology into the suit upgrades.

Santa has stabalized as well as someone in death can. His body has been prepared for reanimation. We are reasonably certain that the G-Virus, with the assistance of the mechanical suit, can bring Santa back to a fully functional level. We need about 2-3 more weeks for testing though, since we are not sure if this has any side effects we should be aware of.)

Yeti pillows and nitemare parasols are all over the place, it seems like every elf has one other the other or both equipped. I have a yeti pillow too, but i leave mine at home so no one knows.. wouldn't want to show my sensitive side to just anyone ;;;

Speaking of sensitive, Elftech 138 who's normally sort of quiet and shy was so odd today. She came right up to me with this strange gleam in her eye and asked if i would like to meet her for a date tomorrow @w@; Of course I had to accept just to be polite but let me tell ya, I was weirded out. I mean, its flattering and all when a girl asks a guy out, but my instincts are telling me that something isn't kosher. Only one way to find out > surprised

*gkkk*...

is anyone out there...?

need help..... we're trapped....

this doesnt make any sense.. wait..

i had gone to elftech138's apartment to visit her.. then after a nice meal things went haywire. there was some kind of explosion and the entire room dropped a entire floor or so before stabilizing, leaving us both caged in rubble.

it was weird though... she wasnt upset at all.. it seemed like she was actually sort of happy. her closet door had opened and inside was a tiny sculpture of a elf. it had jewels for eyes and was surrounded by used candles.. perhaps some sort of shrine? it seemed to be built from various knick knacks.. a deck of cards? some tickle me lamo parts.. paper mache... its so weird and yet familiar..

after some time we were able to get full power back to the room, but were still sealed in together. i decided to use my journal to call the others for help and explain what happened. i dont know whether to gather strength from her positive outlook or to be creeped out that shes not concerned about the cave in at all...

it doesnt make sense.... unless.. she knew.. @w@;;;;;;;;;

i have to go now.. shes coming this way with a bowl of soup or something... if you read this please get help and do whatever is possible to get us out of here....!!

Does anybody clean up after their yetis around here? gonk

I can't tell you how many times I stepped in yeti doo. This is a serious occupational hazard and nobody seems to want to do anything about it. Sure they're cute and all but if they're running around unchecked through the hallways throwing their feces all over, somebody's going to get hurt. cry I'm going to make a stand and demand that if you bring your yetis to work then you sure as heck better bring a leash and a pooper scooper. Be accountable for your yetis people!

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones i used to know ....

Even the sound of my own beautiful voice cannot cheer me up today. Mrs. Claus will not let me leave the facility anymore.
"I want to keep an eye on you at all times! You will scrub those floors from 4 AM to 11 PM each day," she said. "The rest of the time you will spend in this storage closet!""
She had a cot set up for me in the closet. I did not get much sleep last night. I keep imagining spiders crawling over me in the dark.

On an interesting sidenote, I was scrubbing the floors late at night and heard some strange noises coming from deep inside the facility. I went to investigate, but found the door had been locked up exiting my floor. Very curious indeed! Sometimes I get the feeling that all the elves are all suspicious about something, but I can't tell what. No matter. I have more important things on my mind.

I think my magic skills are getting rusty. crying I tried to show a new trick to Elftech003 during the lunch hour today, but she was completely un-impressed. I even offered to let her be the first one to see me turn Prancer into a rubber chicken. It was as if she didn't even hear me. She took a lot of food from the cafeteria and stuffed it into her pockets and into a napsack. She must have the munchies in a bad way ....

If Mrs. Claus doesn't let up soon, I may have to postpone my magic show. If only I could get a petition signed to get Mrs. Claus to let me off for an evening ...

Wednesday, November 23, 2005 :: Still confused as to what time it is.

hooo boy. what happened? one minute i was thinking about updating my journal, and the next i realize, it's almost a week later, and i still haven't updated.

so... last week there was another shipping accident, this time some crazed yetis. they were cute, but... they just run around all the place getting in the way. i tripped over dozens in the past few days. and then today? it seems that all the elves have these new yeti pillows that they're carrying. i guess that everyone liked the yetis, as they have become a new holiday item.

the next day, there were lots of warning sirens, and the flashy lights on the ceiling turned on for a while. i was a bit scared, as i heard that two of the security guards were hurt, but the lights on the ceiling calmed me. maybe a bit too much, as i didn't get much done while they were on...

i kept trying to think of things to do with 912 over the weekend, but didn't come up with any ideas. i've got a box of chocolates that someone gave me, so maybe i could give it to her, and i may. also, i was thinking that while the security is lax over the holiday, i'll be able to sneak out with 912 and go for a moonlit stroll in the snow. hopefully she'll enjoy my company out of work just as much as she does while we're working!

work has been going very well, 912 and i are way ahead of schedule with our production of the coffee cups, and maybe we'll have our quota finished early, and get to work on something else.

santa's speech today was elightening, but all the talk about dark and bad things kinda put me in a bad mood. then, to my suprise, 912 gave me a new watch, one that works! it's got little blinky blue lights on it, and i'm pretty sure that it even had the right time! maybe she does like me after all.
