((Yeah, I didn't know where to start, so I just played around with yours a bit... I'm sorry- please don't vaporize me!))
Raedou chuckled.
"Not just anyone can acquire a Penumbrellity." he said, looking up at the miraculous umbrella.
"They are the most sacred of all Ganzian Alchitems, and we never give them to anyone that we don't trust, no matter what. Believe it or not, but it's Ganzi code to die before giving up a Penumbrellity, and it has been for thousands of years. All Ganzis live by this code, or they suffer the consequences."
The symbolism here was simple; Raedou trusted Ephlas with his life.
Perrault screamed in frustration... for he, Farfarello and Krestere were hopelessly lost in the dark abyss that was the Antipass of the Gravity Mines. This route lacked the beautiful illumination of the route that Raedou and Ephlas had taken, and it was tedious and confusing, with many forks and sharp turns, and sometimes, dead ends. Perrault hated dead ends. They reminded him of failed research projects, which were his biggest dislike in the world.
"I can't TAKE THIS!!!" he wailed, "This mine is hell! HELL!!!"
He began to furiously kick around in rage, cursing and screaming at the top of his lungs.
"I hate this mine!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I HATE IT!!! I..."
"Get a hold ov'r yeself, lad!!!" yelled Krestere has he grabbed the young elf by the shoulders and shook him.
"Whine'n an' scream'n are NOT gonna get you out o' this cave, and ye better be accept'n dat!!! Now, c'mon. I'll be lead'n the way."
Perrault sniffled and trudged behind the Ganzi as they continued through the mines.

((Raedou trusts Farfarello and Ephlas with his life? And I know what you mean about the drawings D: Fun stuff though. I'm almost done coloring the base layer of Perrault smile ))
"My dear Perrault," Farfarello absentmindedly said, looking around, "if this were anything like Hell, no one would ever come here. Compaired to Hell," he ran his hand along one of the smooth, flourescent veins, seeming distant and a bit lost, "this is a tropical vacation home that only kings can afford and common people merely dream of where all of the ladies are clammoring to feed you and rub your feet as you lay out with a strong drink in the sun that is shining softly and not quite too hot." Coming more to his senses, he held his belly up against the wall, hoping to light it and see a bit better with the flower shining through his skin and organs. There seemed to be carvings of some sort, but perhaps it was just rock being its usual jagged self.

Ephlas walked along, still staring at the luminous magic with endless wonder. That Deep Magic was so thick - so thick! - as to leave behind visual evidence in its natural form, this was something to be treasured.
Gingerly, Ephlas reached out a hand layered in magic, touching the tip of his index finger to the wall... and felt gravity run its course on him. The mage stepped back warily, hiding under the safety of his umbrella.
If he were to lose it... the Magus might be able to stave off perilous gravity for a small time, but it would eventually wear him out and kill him. Or, if he was unlucky, not kill him but strand him in one spot, one position, until he died. And even then, his remains would be pervaded by gravity until they sunk into the ground, nothing more than dust.
Ephlas heard no yelling of his allies. They weren't close enough, apparently. Tales of the Dark Knight invaded his thoughts, and Ephlas wondered how powerful this being must be.
"Raedou," he asked, "if I step out from under this umbrella, would gravity attack me, or is it simply enough to be touching the device?"
~
Dakon followed Aria and her brother, focusing deeply on the inner tumbling of his own mind. Valthere... Valthere... was that name familiar to him? He'd been so far around the bend, that Dakon couldn't remember any longer....
~
To say the least, Tanessa and Cedric were astounded at the pure animosity at which the sudden Storm granted life. Thanks to Cedric's forewarning, and Tanessa's quick thinking, they were safe. Heading for the border, and they had almost gotten to it, when the lightning began to strike.
Tanessa was busily facing the storm, receiving and redirecting lightning with a determined focus and an unwavering resolve. That the water was streaming along below them, was actually a boon, and with their Magus friend's icy powers, they could actually be on an icy raft, where Tanessa could focus on diverting the massive electrical power without fear of being electrocuted in the water and without having to focus on moving herself.
Each bolt of lightning heading their way, Tanessa caught and redirected it back towards the sky. Each bolt was accompanied by booming thunder, but even such adversity did not cause Tanessa to flinch or turn away from her task.
((Assuming you don't mind that I set them up this way, SPI, with the ice raft and such.))

Raedou shook his head.
"I've wondered that as well, my friend." he mumbled quietly, as to respect the sacred aura surrounding them.
"The Penumbrellity acts as a "shower shield", meaning that it's field of protection curves slightly outward from the umbrella itself, covering the user's body like a sheet."
He looked up at his umbrella.
"The Penumbrellity must be held over the user's head for full protection. Doing other wise could prove fatal."

"Interesting," Ephlas replied. He briefly entertained the idea of tossing the umbrella straight up, and seeing if its field of protection would increase tenfold, but resisted the temptation after all.
Ephlas was inquisitive by nature, and testing nature in its awesome yet deadly and uncertain rules tempted him greatly. This was why he followed the route of the Magi - not power, wealth, knowledge, or any other kind of pursuit. Just for the ability to revel in nature's glory.
"Where do we proceed from here?" Ephlas asked quietly, exploring the cave with his eyes. "How do we descend?"

Ahead of them in the mine was a sphere of unnatural arcane magic. It was bizarre, as it was almost wrong in essence, but that was how Magitech functioned. The light from Clem's goggles shined at them. "It's you guys! I'm sorry I ran away, just, lightning and... I had to get this!" He held up a jar with a strange little rust-colored mushroom in it, "Ironcap! Almost impossible to harvest without my Gravatic Nullifier." A grin covered the green-haired biologist's face.
---
The town square was remarkably empty, of course, with the Storm on your doorstep, you'd stay inside too. The large building, the Palace itself, was the only building with the Ores Crest.
Aria knocked on the door.
a man in red armor opened it up slowly.
"Hello!" Aria said brightly.
"Lord Valthere is not seeing visitors today."
"I'm his cousin."
"Nice try. House Ores lives only in this city, and currently, in this palace."
"Fine, you got me. I'm a noble."
"More like nomad..."
Aria snorted at the joke, then pulled out a small round medallion. It was silver, with golden sails on it, "Sandglider house. Head of the Clan, Aria Sandglider by ascension. This is the Keeper of Records by ascension, Vinn Sandglider, and this is Mr. Dakon. I have official business concerning the Horde and you will let us in or I will have you charged with treason for delaying vital information." Aria looked back at Vinn.
"Perfect, sis. Exactly as rehearsed." He said with all seriousness.

zfatal ((Tanessa and Cedric? Anything to post on them? And you're posting on the weekends! Is everything resolved, then?)) (actually, I have to ask permission to 'check my stuff' online. because my comp is so slow, it can take 2-3 hours. It will be resolved when my grades are ready... I think my college posts them so dang slowly ON PURPOSE. Also, I'm fine with the raft.) Irwin concentrated on his raft, keeping the ice 'floor' rough enough for traction, and not allowing the raft itself to melt in the water. "If I'd have known I'd be doing this today, I would have made a full ice boat to carry us..." --- The second level of the mines, in front of the way to the third was where Hashmal wandered, blade swinging and reducing rocks to fine powder. The other six Arcanicite gems, once completed, would be placed in the six slots in Hashmal's armor, so that they would be moved with her as she traveled. The Draon and Ganzi were both allies in the past, however, that was long ago, and while the Ganzi might have forgotten, this last Draon did not.

Humorously enough, with both Tanessa and Irwin occupied by magecraft, Cedric was left to steer via calling out directions. The events that followed turned out something like this.
"...Left! Left! No, your other left, Irwin! Right! No, left! DID I NOT JUST SAY LEFT!? Crudiite! Right! ...Go straight ahead, you moron! STOP! ...Oh, wait, never mind. Go right!"
Eventually, the icy craft made its way across the border with speed and... not so much style. As soon as the border was crossed, however, the lightning ceased and the thundering, while still very loud, did not follow them across.
Eopia's borders they may be within, but any city was still far away. Any border village would be located near the passes, not by the stretch of mountain that they had come down from.
...Eventually, as well, there came the time when the ice raft ground to a halt in the dirt. The water was now barely a trickle, and they were already a good distance away from Baelta's borders.
If one looked back at Baelta, the skies would be black and inscrutable, a dark void of light, even from the lightning.
It was solemn and, mostly, mortifying.

Just after Ephlas asked his question, the two travelers came upon an old elevator. It was pulley-controlled, and made of rusted iron.
"We take the elevator." Raedou replied. "This will take us to the second level of the mines. Beware, however; the gravity there is more intense, and will put more strain on your Penumbrellity, so do not try anything drastic with it."
He nodded at Ephlas and Clem, and they stepped into the elevator, and Raedou pulled a rusted lever. Suddenly, the elevator shot down into the earth at an alarming speed.
As the elevator descended, the second level of the mines began to gradually reveal itself. It was darker than the first, but the purple aura was much brighter and tenfold more radiant than the last.
"Only three more levels to go..." mumbled Raedou, "Then we will-"
He stopped and began to listen. Somewhere in the glowing tunnels, metal was clashing with solid rock, making a sound much like the sound of a hammer on hot metal. The sound was close... Very close.
"Ephlas, follow me." whispered Raedou, "And proceed with stealth; we may be nearing the Dark Knight from the old Ganzian legends..."
He then slowly and quietly snuck towards the door of the elevator, and turned around, motioning for Ephlas to follow him.
Perrault stared at the glowing spot on Farfarello's belly with awe.
"Wow..." he mumbled, "That hasn't digested yet? You don't think that it's gonna be there forever, do you?"
((That's actually an awesome idea! Let's make the flower stay in Farfarello's belly!!! It can just be a glowing thing that helps him light up dark places! ...Uh-oh...preparing to be shot down...

((You have been officially shot))
"I don't think it will stay there forever..." Then he thought of the biology; if his body found use of it, it would disperse to his cells and a lot of his body would be mildly glow in the dark until the cells died... which could prove a problem.
