I was fine with 7, and 8 was preloaded into this laptop. Thus far it works much the same and I am not computer savvy enough to put it through enough stress to worry about it. Right now, all I wonder is if Starcraft II Wings of Libterty will run well on this thing. ninja

StarCraft 2 should run well enough. I tend to cringe at new Windows version since old games I love to play tend to get less playable each generation.

Agreed . . . I ended up deleting McAfee from the system (it was preloaded). That allowed me to load all I needed to. Today, I went out and got AVG Internet Security and Antivirus. This was the plan anyway, so that was not a big deal. Tell you what . . . it is nice and pretty to zoom in on the zerg now.

McAfee and Norton are terrible. I use Avast, but AVG is great as well.
Glad you're enjoying it! I'm loving rocking slightly older games at 1920x1080 resolution.

Yeah, my system is not totally happy with it, but I am pleased. Likely will blow through it fairly quickly, though.
Soooooooooooooooooo. . . . what is this Nosgoth MMO you mentioned? ninja

There's very little info, as it was only just revealed. There was a canceled game, Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun. The MMO devs took the codebase for Dead Sun and are working it into something. We'll have to see.

Same here. It's a shame they're going the MMO route. With how successful the recent Tomb Raider was, you'd think they'd have enough money and know-how to make a normal game instead. Well, here's hoping the MMO can get the tone of Nosgoth right, because 1,000 reavers running around would ruin everything. Something focusing on the conflict between the Hylden and the Vampires or between the Humans and the Vampires could prove interesting if done well.

The video game developing market has become so convoluted that making a one-off game (non-indie) is too expensive, too risky to do anymore. Thus, only franchises are given any serious credentials anymore in the triple-A market.
A Hylden vs Vampire game would work VERY well for MMO. 3nodding

Sadly, yes, there's so much wrong with the market right now, but I was talking about a Legacy of Kain game. Or, is the franchise old enough now to the extent that a new one would be considered one-off?
NPCs were exclusively humans, so they were just cattle for the vampires, yet Hylden would know to lurk around human populations to ambush the feeding raids. Ah, speculating about it is getting me excited. I'm not at all an MMO person, but Elder Scrolls Online and Nosgoth have me excited about the potential they have.
Here's hoping they can get the plot and dialogue done well without the series writer with the company anymore.

Defiance was the last release that I am aware of, and that was in December of 2003. Ten years ago? That is a lot of time between games being developed. I won't say it would be a one-off, but I would say that unless a reboot . . . that is a bit of a cold trail to follow. Still, there is potential. Humans being supported and manipulated by the Hylden. Vampires losing support among Humans because the older (blue) ones were allies, but the younger ones see them as food.
It would be so awesome to play, though.

It has indeed, but the problem is that the series is old enough to be nostalgic, but not old enough to be worth the effort of remaking. Alas, I do not expect much from Nosgoth for a while. I'd love to be proven wrong . . . but Kain will be shelved for a while.

Yeah, you're probably right on that one, though Legacy of Kain 1 could really use a remake (removing glitches and improving performance at the very least).

Agreed . . . though that would not be a refit- that would be a from the ground up remake. Such is what has kept FF VII from being remade for years.
