Sheila's eyes went wide. "You are? Really? Sorry, it's just..." She shrugged slightly, then finished "It's just that I've never actually met a real human before." She smiled, unwittingly showing off her pointed teeth, as she looked curiously at the human girl. Then, remembering her manners, she held out her lightly scaled hand to shake and said "My name's Sheila. What's yours?" I hope she doesn't freak out. I don't think she's ever met someone who isn't human before. But that's perfect!

Sarah furrowed her brow. "So wait.. y- you... arent human?" She knew this school was for special people, but she didnt think that that meant like, non-human people. She didnt think non-human people existed. She shook the girls hand hesitantly, noticing it felt different that her own hand, but she wasnt completely willing to look to see why. "I- Im Sarah, but my friend back home called me Xander, so you can call me either"

"It's nice to meet you, Sarah," Sheila said politely, making a graceful half-bow. She shook her head, grinning, at what she had said about her not being human. "No, I'm not human. I'm one of the Nagah." Maybe she won't know what that is. Which would be pretty good, all things considered, 'cause she wouldn't know what the other clans are like either. Her smile faded away slowly, leaving her looking solemn, and a little worried. I just hope telling that wasn't a mistake. Otherwise, I'll be in big trouble with the elders.

"You t- too" sarah said quietly. She was still pretty shocked this girl wasnt human. She heard the girl call hersself one of the Nagah, but had no idea what that was. She couldnt decide if she should ask or not, seeing as it might seem rude that she doesnt know, but curiosity was driving her mad already. She thought for a minuet before suddenly asking "Whats the N- Nagah?" without really grasping that she'd actually asked.

Sheila looked relieved, and sighed softly. She doesn't know. Thank goodness. "The Nagah are snake people," she explained patiently. She held out her hand again, this time with her palm down. "See? Scales. Like a snake. There are other snake-like things too, but that's the obvious way to tell one of us from any other race." She held her hands clasped in front of herself, her smile coming back now that she didn't have to worry about what Sarah knew about her people.

Sarah nodded in understanding, looking at her hand curiously. She shivered lightly from her fear of snakes. She didnt want to seem mean, but snakes really creeped her out. "Uhm... W- well, thats... cool i guess..." she said, trying not to think of her like a snake. The last thing she needed was to be afraid of the first person that had talked to her at her new school.

Clyde wakes up after all that and saw someone standing over him. He sits up quickly and collides heads with her. "Owwww" He rubs his head a tear at the corner of his eyes. "owowowowowowowow!"

Sheila looked at Sarah, frowning slightly. Something in her reaction made Sheila think that something was off, but for the moment she pretended she hadn't seen anything unusual. Instead, she said "Really? Most people don't like us very much." She sighed softly. She hadn't meant to say anything more about her people, but somehow the words ended up spilling out of her mouth anyways. "I don't see why. I mean, just because we look like snakes a little doesn't mean we act like them." She bit her lip. "Sorry. I don't mean to just dump my problems on you," she murmured.

Sarah shuddered again, the thought of a snake moving across the grass and then picturing the snake with the girls face. It freaked her out a little. "O- oh" she said, "Well, i dont know a- about them, but snakes scare me kind of..." She didnt want to hurt the girls feelings, she just didnt know what to think of a snake-girl. "its okay, i- im a good listener, and i dont mind if you d- do want to dump any sort of problem on me."

Sheila looked down at the ground. "Oh," she said softly. "I'm sorry. I didn't..." She took a couple of steps backwards. "I didn't realize." Stupid. I don't really understand how someone could be afraid of snakes, but something was obviously wrong. Me and my big mouth. She folded her arms across her chest, thinking that maybe she should just leave. After a moment, she did turn towards the stairs, but paused before she went to leave. "I should just go," she said over her shoulder. "I'm sorry for disturbing you."

Sarah stood up, she felt bad for making her feel like she needed to go. Shes not a snake. Not really. Theres no reason Sarah should be afraid of her. Sarah ran to catch her, grabbing her shoulder lightly. "I, uh, I didnt mean to make y-you feel bad. You dont n-need to go. We can still be f-friends?" Sarah asked timidly.

Sheila looked at Sarah, confused. "Really? You...still want to be friends with me? Even though I'm...like this?" She had stopped in her tracks, and slowly turned to face Sarah, not really believing what she had heard. Does she really mean that, or is she just trying to make me feel better? If some humans can be like this, why are the Elders so afraid of them? She looked at Sarah closely, searching for some sign in her face that she wasn't telling the truth.

Sarah nodded, she was still kinda nervous about her being snake-ish, but she would ignore it, and hopefully get over one of her many fears. "J- just so long as you like, dont turn into a s- snake, like completely. Or at least, not a- around me" she said quietly, biting her lip nervously.

Sheila shook her head emphatically, trying to reassure the girl. "I wouldn't do that...actually, to tell you the truth, I can't do that," she admitted. "I'm not old enough to change form. I'm just a baby, compared to most of the others in my clan." She smiled slightly. "So you don't have to worry about it. Promise." She held up one hand, as though taking a vow, as she spoke, then lowered it slowly back to her side when she had finished. Suddenly grinning, she said excitedly "You know what? That makes you my first human friend ever!"

Sarah sighed in relief hearing Sheila couldnt turn completely into a snake. "Okay, th- thats good, for me at least" She said, visibly relaxing. "Well, youre my first non-human f- friend too" She said with a small smile, which was a step up, she almost never smiles.
