"I know I don't like those women that Uncle Mark was watching on the television," he said, crossing his arms. "They're yucky! All kissy and gross and stuff. Shows like that will melt your eyes if you continue watching them. The only reason you still have your eyes today is because your Uncle Mark took the blow for you." he said it with a completely straight face and a serious tone. He opened his eyes and looked down at Daniel. " I've had many cases where people would run into things because of their melted eyes. Don't watch those kinds of shows, okay?" Daniel's eyes were wide with horror, his jaw dropped and his fists clenching his father's shirt. Tears surfaced, and he bowed his head and touched Fredrich's chest with his forehead. "Gahhh! I'm sorry, Daddy, I'll never watch them again, I promise, please don't let my eyes get melted out, I need them to see and stuff!!!"

Daniel followed his father's gaze, looking at the twitching young man who only continued to sleep on. A thought occurred to the boy, who sat upright and clapped his hands. "After we put Mama to bed, teach me how to play." Daniel gazed away, looking towards a stray violin case. "Teach me."

" You want to learn violin?" he asked. He glanced at his watch then at Daniel. " It's getting late, maybe tomorrow. Why the sudden interest?" "Who knows? I just want to learn," he answered cryptically, who then sighed and laid his head on his father's chest. "It sounds so pretty when I hear you play, and I get to hear it so rarely. So I want to play it for myself, and make my own music."

He slipped one glove off and held it underneath the water that slowly filled the tub, testing the water. Hearing Daniel's next question, he sighed through his nose. " I barely have the time, Daniel.
