((I accidently posted before I was finished, sorry sweatdrop ))

Hebishi's eyes narrowed as he listened to the man went on and one about how he couldn't be the basilisk. After a few moments he lowered his glasses and stared at a bird that was flying over head, it's little eyes were drawn to his gaze and within seconds it was plummeting to the earth where it landed before the human. A realistic stone carving of a sparrow.
The man was, finally, speachless.

"Now, human, your Pact?" he hissed as his cobalt blue eyes flashed behind his glasses.

The man, after he had regained his wits, sneered at Hebishi again, sight into the furture and to be immune to all illnesses!" His runny, little pig eyes leered at Hebishi as though thinking him uncapiable of granting such a pact.

Hebishi cocked a eyebrow, "for?"

"My right arm, my right eye, and my compassion."

Hebishi licked his lips, compassion, now that is something he hadn't tasted in awhile. He desided to take this man's Pact instead of killing him like he had planned, "I accept your terms, mortal."

Kon watched avidly, eyes shining with enthusiasm as he crouched near Ryu, his bright eyes following his hands' every movement. "Ryuuuu.... You've done this a lot, haven't you?" he asked. Of course he must have. How else would be so good at rolling the snow and such? It looked like it would be something difficult to do.

How could he... why in the world would he make a pact with such a man?! But then... he was a basalisk... Zephyr frowned, truly horrified at the hunger of other magical beings. And this man... that man reiked of abuse and lust for power. The willow brought one hand up to cover his mouth and nose so that he would not have to smell that man's corruption. It made him want to cry bitter, cleansing tears. Maybe if he cried... then the man would be washed away. A tree's tears were much stronger and much more moving than any human's could be. But the basalisk, then, was likely to be angry with him... and Zaphyr didn't want that. Not at all.

Hebishi smirked as the he took one of his long finger nails and sliced the palm of the power hungry noble and then pricked his own finger letting his blood enter the man before him. The wind picked up and the man was wrenched back in agony as his eye twirled and spun in his head and his arm was pulled violently outward causing bones to snap, blood vessels to explode and muscles to stretch and strain before ripping. Then he howled in pain as a misty lavander hazy seemed to left from him. An eye, an arm, and his compassion. Hebishi smirked.

Soon the man collapsed in agony while the Hebishi lifted his new arm and eye. After studying them for a bit he set them aside. Now the compassion, that he held lightly in his grasp before plucking a pouch from his disgarded pants and placed the emotion inside. As he did all this a green hazy had come forth and settled itself over the man, giving him the gifts he had wished for. As the gifts settled in Hebishi walked forward and stared into the one good eye of the nobel that was clouded with pain and agony.
"No human is allowed the gift of sight when they hold no kindness in there heart. You gave up kindness for wealth years ago," Hebishi's eyes flashed with sadistic joy and the man's eye widened in fear. "You have broken the rule." With that he snapped the nobles neck. Just because you completed a pact did not mean you couldn't still kill them...

((Sorry for any mistakes... I'm typing this with two kittens on my lap, rubbing their heads on my hands to get me to pet them (like I haven't already been petting them for the last half hour)... xD;;;; ))

Zephyr watched, horrified. Anything he had thought before of the cold, merciless cruelty of the basilisk was doubled, trippled... worsened so much by this display of dark, shameless intention. First to take things from a man - even such a horrible man - only to kill him? Hot, salty tears began to tumble down the youth's pale cheeks, uncounsiously turning his skin human again. He felt as if he were going to be sick. His vision swam with the sight of cold mallace and he leaned forwards, his entire weight leaned against the old pine. The tree's branches swayed as if in sympathy as Zephyr's hot tears trickled down his flesh to stain its bark with hot, salty sobs.

Hebishi's cold, dark eyes then turned to the dog and horse, the horse didn't move because of fright and the dog could only whimper. With three long strides he grabbed the horses reins. His eyes softened and he stroked the animals neck a few times before unsaddling, and unbrideling the gorgeous animal. He then, after calming the steed, knelt down and stroked the dog. Hebishi may have a cold heart to humans but animals, and Hebishi's eyes when over the bruises on the canines side and the red welts on the horses sides, expecially abused ones made him gentle.
"That man didn't have enough compassion to begin with," he muttered as he lead the horse into the cave and the dog followed. Within a few moments the horse was grazing with a snake skin blanket and the dog was curled next to the rock as Hebishi climbed on it again to sun some more.

At first, Zephyr thought it was merely the tears clouding his vision. But after he rubbed at his eyes - and he rubbed at them vigorously, just to make sure - he perceived that he had been, after all, correct. The basalisk - that creature that had moments before so mercilessly laid away the life of a man directly after a Pact - was helping the animals... Perhaps he wasn't so bad... or maybe he was just luring them into a false sense of security so that he could fatten them up and eat them. But somehow Zephyr doubted that. The man... well... not man, creature was more like it... was a basalisk and could have killed them instantly with just a look.

And Zephyr was a caring tree - he always wanted to beleive the best in... well, anyone. Truth be told, he wanted the basalisk to have a good heart, despite his previous actions. And as it was, the youth found, as he watched, that his heart had warmed towards the snake. He made a slight clicking sound with his tongue and held a soft, pale hand out away from the tree. The dog looked up, wagged its tail a couple times, and then made its way over to the willow. He smiled and patted it softly.

Hebishi glanced up at the sound and watched as his new companion of a mutt left him for a young boy. Hebishi cocked an eye brow and tasted the air with his tongue. His eyes widened the boy was a... a... tree! As he looked at the male he realized it was the same boy that was in the water. He also remembered how embarrased he had been with Hebishi looking at him when he was nude. Because of that he gracefully slid his lean body off the warm stone and pulled on his light jade tunic and soft tan pants.
He then muttered mockingly under his breath that the dog left him for a pretty face and would come back to him crying. He then adorned his glasses. Even though his gaze, even unsheilded, wouldn't harm the tree he knew his gaze was made softer under the lenses.
He then took a step back and sat on the boulder with his legs crossed. Lean, powerful, ancient, and deadly his pale skin seemed to shimmer in the light as he watched the two interact lazily.

Kotoro just assumed he meant the occasional family or friend visit, so he took the answer without further question on the certain subject. He took a moment of silence, just observing the youth sitting across from him as if trying to read him.. If that was the case, it wasn't working. Just as he suddenly opened his mouth once more, a loud beeping alarm went off.

"Oh, uh.. Food's done," he stated, getting up and hurrying into the kitchen to turn off the oven alarm and pull the two dinner trays out. He hadn't bothered to get it out with assistance of a cloth. It seemed his gloves were enough protection to his hands as it was.
Oliver returned the gaze, his own golden orbs sweeping over and taking in the details of the other's facial features. He gave a start with the beeping alarm and a defensive growl began to escape his throat before Kotoro seemed to casually respond to the noise. ... So the noise meant cooked food? 'Interesting...' he noted. Oliver pulled a little at his collar before standing and moving back to the kitchen. When he arrived he saw the rather odd sight of the human handling the plate with such ease. Was the pan cool to the touch? As soon as it was set upon the counter, Oliver reached out a curious hand to feel it.

HOT.

He jerked back his hand reflexively and yelped softly. "Ow! Hot!" Unaware of what else to do, he stuck the two burned fingers into his mouth, licking them protectively. Alas, it only irritated the burn. He frowned, confused, and removed them, looking about the foreign kitchen helplessly. Where was the water?! Nixes were always so wet... he'd never encountered a burn before. But he didn't like them.

Zephyr felt the other's gaze sweep over him and he shivered, but he resisted the temptation to look up. If he met the other's eyes... well, he didn't want to die any time soon. Then the gaze seemed to... diminish. It wasn't gone... just... lessened somehow. He looked up to see the other staring at him, his eyes sheilded by dark lenses. Huh. Zephyr hadn't know basalisks could lessen their gaze's intensity with sun glasses. He probably would have figured that the glasses would shatter, if he'd thought about it. But, of course, he had never thought of it. In fact, before this, he had never actually seen a real basalisk - just pictures. Apart from the whole eye-thing and the feeling of fear eminating from the snake, the guy looked normal enough as a human - not as intimidating as one would have thought it would be. Through all his thoughts, he had continued to pet the dog, although occasionally his eyes had traveled to the other's form. He couldn't help it. He was curious. At last, he straightened up and turned fully to the snake-man, noting with a slight blush that he was fully dressed, and asked, "Are you just going to watch me?" Zephyr didn't like being watched by others. That was a tree's job - to watch. Trees weren't often watched by normal humans for longer than several minutes, unless it was a scientist doing some weird research.

Hebishi smiled and calmly spoke in his cool voice, "Now what would you have me do young sappling? I have never before been in the presence of a tree spirit, which is saying something considering my age." He pondered that for a moment before turning his attention back on the boy.
"I assume it's because I'm cold-blooded..." he smirked a humorless smile, "and I must admite--" He strode up close to boy and placed a finger under the boys chin lifting his eyes to his, "one does not normally converse willingly with a snake."

Zephyr held the other's gaze and although he had a strong to jerk his head away from the other's touch, he kept it firmly and determinedly in place. "Snake or no snake... I at least prefure to talk than to be watched... It's unnerving," he said with a bit of a wry smile, his eyes traveling from the other's face back down to the dog, which his hand continued to stroke slowly. "I suppose that's strange coming from a tree, as we always watch... but..." He sighed, pale green orbs fluttering shut for the breifest of moment before opening again. Glasses or no glasses - prefurably glasses - the basalisk was still intimidating, especially at so close a range. "Mmm... well... this is Eden, you know. I suppose if I'm talking to you, that makes me Eve, right?" he said, nto quite realising what he was saying until after it was said. Then he added, thinking he might as well finish, "But I don't see any apples..."

The Basilisk laughed before stroking the boys cheek bone with his thumb, "now, now, who said the fruit was a apple?" A sly smirk flittered onto his lips, "besides I'm not just a serpent, though I am flattered that you refered to me as such a sly, gorgeous creature." He then cocked his head to the side letting his dark forest green hair to flutter off his shoulder as he looked at the awkward youth before him.
"I guess it does surprise me a bit that you would rather speak with me. I'm not a particulary verbose creature-- unless you catch me on a good day." He stroked the young boys soft cheek once more before stepping back with a smirk. He then twirled once and did a bow with one leg extending further, "which you just happened to catch me in. Now my dear sir--" His cold eyes seemed to flash behind the glasses, "ask of me what you wish, I shall indulge your social conversation craving."

((wow- we are all having posting problems...for whatever reason my post didn't show up...sorry!))

Ryu grinned softly. "Sorta...I used to do it a lot when I was a kid, but not anymore..." Not since she died.... "It's not hard- you wanna give it a shot? All you do is roll it like this..." Ryu showed Kon how to roll the show so that it stuck together. "You keep doing that until it gets to the right size...." Ryu gave Kon an encouraging smile, then murmured "Go on...give it a try..."
