You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

[I've been left behind... :{
I know no one is near my characters yet, but would anyone mind telling me who is fighting and why and where?]

Cal stared out the window in a daze as Jaeto sat, leaning on the back legs of his chair whistling. Damn, this is boring... Jaeto thought as he looked across the table at the princess. She looks just as bored as I am... Er! I can't keep her locked up in this hotel until he gets here. I'm sure it wouldn't be too dangerous to take her around the city... he cleared his throat and was about to talk when the princess interrupted.

"I think I'll go see what's in that market down the street..." she said softly.
"Huh?"
"There's a market down the street... You can see it from the window."
"Oh, yeah." Jaeto blushed for reasons he was unsure of. "I was just about to take you there myself, actually. Hehe..."
Calisto smiled and got up from her seat. She made sure her cloak was securely on her before walking outside and with Jaeto beside her, they walked into the market.

((Raedou and Telgove WERE fighting over something or another that happened in the past [a betrayal, it seems,] and Bael is there trying to slaughter all magi, which includes only Ephlas.))

(Fayt is trying to find you, but he's collapsed somewhere near the border.)

Clem Ducked under the cover of some trees, searching his amazing pack for a whatchamacallit or a somethingorrather to help him in this situation. he pulled out a metal rod... that attracted lightning, "Ahhh!" he quickly placed it back in it's case, to prevent being struck.

Frantically looking around, he'd lost the others. "I should make my way back to the gravity mines so..." he drew out his map and compass. "I'm... here, so, this way!" He made it back to the mines quickly and without incident.

((Hold the phone. Ganzian techniques are for Ganzis. Humans cannot use them, let alone put them into cursers.))

((I will reveal the reason that Raedou hates Telgove so much very soon.))

((I'm sorry, Technicolor; I'm going as fast as I can!))

Raedou looked at Clem's lightningrod in confusion. He then dug into his own pack and pulled out a lightningrod identical to the biologist's in every way.

Either this is a coincidence, he thought, Or this man has ties with the Ganzi...

Suddenly, the lightning rod in his hand absorbed a rather large bolt of lightning, scaring Raedou out of his mind.

"I'm gonna die of a heart attack before I get killed by lightning out here!" he yelled, "Everyone, we need to run for the house!"

However, the Ganzi stayed there; he needed to make sure that everyone got inside safely.

Perrault ran inside first, but then poked his head out the door, frantically looking around for Farfarello (Perrault cares much about Farfarello at this point).

Raedou held his lightningrod up high, and then began to walk around, searching for Ephlas.

"Ephlas?! Where are you?! Can you hear me, Ephlas?!"

As he searched, thoughts of Callisto and Jaeto rushed through his mind.

Oh, my dear friends..., he thought, Please be safe...

"That retard," Farfarello said, looking out the widow, "taking out a lightning rod while Ephlas is going spellhappy." He stuck his hand into a new jar of strawberries. "Close that door Perrault, that biologist's demon gas," he laughed at his slip-up, "might get in."

"Oh- uhh, yes." stuttered Perrault as he shut the door.

"By Lady Elysia's crown," he mumbled to Farfarello, "Ephlas screwed up pretty bad, huh...?"

Perrault was worried about Raedou, who was still outside, looking around for Ephlas. He turned to Farfarello, frowning.

"Hey, where is Krestere?"

"I dunno." He simply replied.

Perrault walked around the lodge, looking in every room, hoping to find Krestere. Pretty soon, he began to get worried.

"Krestere! Krestere, were are you?" he called as he searched around.

"Farfarello, help me look for Krestere." he said as he walked into the bedroom, looking for the Ganzi.

((I have to go, but I might get back on again today.))

"Maybe he's in the closet..." He trailed off, looking longingly out the window as he scratched his horns on the wall absently.

The carts with fresh fruit and flowers were lovely but could not mask the order of the fish carts in a different part of the market. People rushed past the princess and her escort, busy with their shopping or arguing with merchants for discounts. Cal looked up as they passed a cart and saw a pair of chicken eyes looking back at her curiously through a cage during it's last few seconds of life. Suddenly the chicken was grabbed, killed and sold. Calisto just removed her attention from the scene and focused on the friendlier carts. The whole place had a very pungent aroma, it was over crowded but had a generally pleasant atmosphere despite that. And the best thing was, it appeared that no one recognized the princess.

Perrault shrugged and opened the closet, but found nothing but various tools and a old sack of flour, covered with dust.

"Were could he be?!" asked Perrault, double checking where he had already looked.

As he walked toward the kitchen again, he tripped on Krestere's broadsword and bumped into a nearby bookshelf. The bookshelf moved a little bit, revealing a crack in the wall behind it.

Perrault stared in awe. "A secret entrance!" he yelled to Farfarello, "Maybe Krestere is down there!"

He motioned for Farfarello to follow him. "C'mon, Far, let's go!"

Meanwhile, Raedou just stood outside, looking around. There was no sign of Ephlas anywhere, and it started to rain.

"At least the storm ceased..." he mumbled to himself as the fog was cleansed by the rain.

Although the rain was calming, he was still worried about the mage.

Ephlas... where the hell are you?

Farfarello stared out at the battlefield, but the secret passageway caught his curiosity. Leaving his post, he slipped inside with Perrault.

Clem was now at the Gravity mine entrance, checking his pack. He pulled out numerous devices and trinkets, all of which had special purposes for his research. The last thing he pulled out was a piece of technology beyond almost everything else he had (which was saying something... the man carried around a microscope.) It was small, about the size of a ripe apple, with a splendid amount of little switches and buttons, as well as a plastic light. It was a gravitational nullifier. A very rare, and thus expensive piece of Magitech, something he'd received from his academy.

Clem began to pack his things into the pack, save the nullifier. He missed the academy. The Eopian Academy of Science and Magic, possibly the most advanced place in Mythicaa, where both Magi and scientists gathered to find out more about everything. The Academy maintained ties around the world, though the Baeltan outreach center was unsurprisingly unsuccessful, The Adacemy still received ideas and all sorts of things from the rest of the landmass. It could afford such wondrous items for it's researchers, since they were few in number (It's rare to find a man of science who prefers to risk his neck in a dangerous world instead of walking the relatively safe halls of the Academy.)

He removed his goggles from a side pocket, a small lightstone providing a soft glow to see with. folding his glasses carefully, he placed them in their respective container before fitting the much larger goggles over his eyes.

(Clem has gear for his work. and you find out where he gets it.)

---

Darkness... only the glow of dim lightstones broke the inky black. A blade, masterfully crafted by inhuman hands rested along the stones and dust. A shifting sound of metal broke the dead silence. twin glows of yellow on a helm meant for neither human, elf, nor Ganzi glared with life unheard of in these depths. in the light of the stones, a form was revealed, armored, powerful, sharp, alien. This was not a creature whose species had seen the light of day for generations. This creature was a Draon. A reptilian humanoid, long though extinct. this one was young by it's races standards, but this very one had lived when Lady Elysia still walked Mythicaa. No... this creature had actually MET Elysia. It lifted the blade with a clawed hand, then slashed downward, breaking the stone into the same dust covering the floor. This was Hashmal the Dread, the Dark Knight of the Gravity Mines. The cavern that the sword had rested in was carve through this beings handiwork... most of the uncharted reaches in the mines were. Hashmal was the sole guardian of the Arcanicite gems, of which there were only six crystals. It was Hashmal's duty to guard these gems, for they were to be harvested. But when the time came, Hashmal's treasure, the very thing Hashmal had waited for was stolen away, and Hashmal cast from the fifth level. Without those gems, Hashmal didn't stand a chance against the creature that had tossed the Dark Knight out, and Hashmal's vengeance would never be carried out.

The Horde was what Hashmal lived for... destroying it, that is. The Horde had wiped out the Draon race without mercy. The bones of Hashmal's people were lost as their great cemeteries and mausoleums were destroyed by Baelta to make their cities and towns.

They walked down the stairs, and eventually they made it to the bottom.
In front of them was a great stone, pulsing and riveting with circuit-like flows of energy colored with vivid reds and yellows.

And as Perrault suspected, there stood Krestere, tending to the stone.

"What is this, Krestere?!" said Perrault, amazed at such a grand sight as this.

Krestere jumped and quickly looked up. He then sighed in relief and continued working.

"This, me lad," he said proudly, "be a Fracture Stone, a powerful spawn o' alchemy, able ta shield me lodge from magic attacks, like dat beam o' light that pounded me precious cannons..."

He looked away in sadness, but then shrugged and went back to work.

"This is AMAZING!!!" screamed Perrault, "It's... a giant curser!! Where did you get this, Krestere?!"
