"Fair enough, lets get out of this tomb then."
Leading the way back to the side room that they had used to come in, Will would again grab hold of Iden and drag them into the earth; dragging them away from that cursed tomb and back towards the safety of their car. Once outside of the excavation site, Will would come up close to the surface and poke his head up to get a good idea of his surroundings; seeing that they where next to the walls surrounding the site. Making sure that there was nothing there to see them, either 'living' or artificial, Will would drag them back out into the world and make for the car; his desire to put as much distance between himself and the ruins encouraging him to make haste.
"You gonna be alright Iden, that thing in there acted like it knew you."
Will could tell his brother was upset about something, whatever that was Will wouldn't know unless Iden was feeling rather talkative. Still, making sure that the man was holding together given what had happened took precedent over most anything else.

Iden was wordless throughout the whole of their exit. He was at this point introspective; his thoughts revolved primarily about the truths revealed. The issue was, he knew O-Kuni. That alone meant he could not trust these "memories"...meaning he would need to speak with Roan. Given that last Iden knew, the matriarch was away with her eldest son...
Complications abound.
Once at the car, only then did Iden open up. He lit up the ignition and threw the vehicle in gear, then nodded slowly. His thoughts were focused on the here and now; he could worry about the past later.
You just encountered my skeleton in the closet, and one of the reasons why the DeSeer name is rightly feared. If you've never dabbled in daemonology, you can say you just had your first close encounter with the unholy kind. That was O-Kuni Nushu. He's one of several, and most of his kin are tied to the clan.

The moment Iden had the car in gear and the two of them where underway, Will slumped back in his seat and relaxed; finally glad to be away from the daemon's prison/resting place. Will's peace was quickly disrupted however by Iden explaining what exactly they had just dealt with, and why it seemed to have known Iden so well. While the fact that the clan has dealt with Daemon's before did not bother Will much; it was the fact that the daemon's where tied to the DeSeer's themselves and not the other way around that amazed him.
"Forgive me if I am skeptical, but are you telling me that these daemon's serve the DeSeer family; that we have managed to bind them to our will somehow?"
While Will knew of Daemon's and their kind, this was still his first actual experience with them; and from what he knew, they did as they pleased and never called anyone but themselves or another daemon master.
"You're gonna have to do a lot more talking on this one, because this seems a bit too incredible for me to believe; even given everything that I have been shown so far."

No, mate, I'm not telling you such. I'm saying we've worked with them. To assume they've taken a role of servitude is the biggest mistake you could make...and Kuni should have just proved that much just now.
Iden continued to drive. His eyes were on the road, but his mind was on the discussion. As shown by a few near misses with traffic, he was focusing less on driving and more on his current thoughts.
There are seven of them, all brothers. They lack a good nature even to each other, but are all to the last bound to a weapon and in most cases a shrine. THere's one under the house to the lightning god that was Roan's partner. To the last, they're all cunts that serve themselves first, though that DOES sometimes mean working with us lesser sorts. Roan and Take were partners, astounding enough. But Kuni...soulbound to him though I was, it was a daily struggle for dominance. I don't remember specifics, but I've hazy recollection of periods of total insanity and destruction from his influence. Power's got a cost.
The vehicle ground to a slow halt at a traffic signal. Taking a brief second to glance at Will, Iden made sure the younger blood was taking this all in.
The reason we're here is because bad people have interest in binding the daemon to themselves, to do bad things. This is apocalyptic level s**t I'm talking here, and that dig? It's going to find its funding cut and resources removed, with all public files being quickly covered up, even if I have to burn them and assassinate the people who know its location personally. Some things must remain secret. Especially since the daemon seems to still have power, despite what I did to him. And because of that...I'm ******** terrified. That thing scares me more than Ice scares you, I'll put it that way.
Eyes back on the road, Iden lifted his foot from the brakes; they were off again.
When we get home, ask Yoh about his counterpart, or better still, about the lore behind the whole lot. There's a lot of history, both with our clan and before it. He's the person to ask. I just want you to be aware of some of what we deal with, so it doesn't blindside you if it all heads south.

As Iden spoke William listened and listened very closely; taking in each and every little bit of information. William's skepticism being quickly replaced by a growing sense of dread, the idea of that thing back in the crypt being bound to a person, no matter their temperament, and being loosed upon the world terrified William to his core.
"That explains the urgency in getting out here on the double, you wanted to make sure that whatever fool was poking about those ruins hadn't let this Kuni thing loose. ******** me, if that thing was let out by one of those idiots, it could very well be the end for a lot of people; s**t even us if we weren't very careful about how we dealt with it."
Will would go quiet for a moment on that note, thinking to himself about not only what he had just learned and encountered, but of the other Daemon's lurking inside of the mansion. Iden had said that one was Roan's partner, so that afforded them some safety where it was involved; but what of the others? Iden was right, he needed to talk to Yoh, maybe even Roan, about this. He needed to know more in case the worst happened; he needed to be prepared for the eventuality that Kuni was going to get out. That would have to wait though, there was a more pressing matter for them to deal with.
"So, what now? We make sure that their resources dry up one way or another and get them to leave, but then what? Just leave that crypt there for the next unwitting explorer to poke around in or Sabbat a*****e to try and take advantage of?"

Iden chuckled softly. True, this was hardly a discussion worth any levity, but still he couldn't help it. That damnable grin worked along his face, until he looked like he was enjoying himself rather thoroughly.
Works by bloodline. Odds of a random shovelhead having the proper ancestry to be able to touch a bound blade or shrine without having their arm blown apart and their mind pulverized are a million to one. Second, the odds of said shovelhead having the willpower to not die immediately by having their mind explode is even more unlikely.
Yup, still driving.
If I drew my ancestry far enough back, I'm biologically related to the bint that put O-Kuni into the weapon he's stuck in. That said, I don't know if the bad man HAS that perk, but I do know there's an unfortunate habit Kuni has of drawing cultists to use as puppets. Infinitely less scary than the daemon, but that million to one gig? Yeah, let's not play the odds. As for what we do after the shrine gets sealed, we keep a watchful eye on the place. That ******** is MY problem, nobody elses.

"So, what exactly qualifies one as being of a worthy bloodline? You said that one of your ancestors had bound Kuni to a weapon; is that all that is needed to be able to use one of these daemons?"
Now that he knew that not just anyone could wield these things and not have their minds and bodies destroyed instantly, Will wanted to know what exactly allowed one to be a partner or host for one of these things. Will also wanted to look into his own viability to be bound to one of those things; his desire for power not strong enough to be willing to have one of those this put in him.
"Also, can one become a host for one of those things involuntarily? As in the daemon possess a body on its own?"

Literally, you gotta be biologically related to the original individual to be tied to the daemon. There aren't that many folk around who can boast that, but it IS all you need to start the process. The thing is...even if you have the appropriate genealogy, you still need mental fortitude above and beyond the norm, or your head'll just pop.
And by now, they were about at the hotel. Good times. Iden killed the motor, climbed out of the car, and made for the entrance.
You'll need to talk to Yoh for too much more. He's the scholar, I'm just the pyromaniac. Mostly I just want you to be aware of what's out there, right?
Iden led the way back to the room they had booked, where their equipment lay stashed. It was here that he was going to make a single phone call, looking to get in touch with Jan.

*Contacting Jan wasnt hard most of the time, and this was no exception. The phone was answered within a few rings, the austere voice of the house butler coming over the line, recognising the number calling*
Good evening Master Iden. How may I help you?

Iden had his phone to his ear as he sorted himself out. After the shrine, he had little intent on doing much anything except wind down and wait until the next evening.
Jan? O-Kuni's shrine is being touched upon by an archaeological team, and I'm wary of letting the place fall under the public eye. It's funded by HBL and findings are to be routed to the UK...do me a favor and see if intel can get anything on the details.

I will look into it Sir, and give you my findings. This may take me a while. For your information, the Lady has returned to the mansion. I am sure she would like to see you upon your return.
If you require anything else, please let me know.
*If there was no more, Jan would hang up and begin his investigations.*

It was here that he was going to make a single phone call, looking to get in touch with Jan. Getting out of the car and following Iden inside, Will would give Iden a quick but sincere 'thanks' before going back to thinking; the fact that the DeSeer's watched over such insane weapons and beasts still rattling about in his mind. Though given the mentality's and genetics of the clan members themselves it was infinitely more believable then the usual crackpot dictator telling his underlings and enemies that he had the weapons to conquer them all; technically speaking Will himself could be classified as such a thing. Once in the room, Will would go and flop down onto the bed, kicking off his shoes and relaxing on the semi-comfy mattress while half listening to Iden make his phone call; chuckling to himself when he thought of how pissed that professor was going to be when he found out his grants and funding had all run screaming from the very mention of his name. "So, what is our next course of action, just sit and wait for word from Jan, or are we going to be heading home? Or are we going to be taking a much more active role in the loss of interest in this excavation site?" By now Will was sitting on the edge of the bed, shifted back into his 'normal' form, allowing him to relax and let his brain recoup before their next big outing into the normal world.

The phone sank from Iden's ear. With a casual flick of his fingers the device snapped shut, and he pocketed it. The chat with Jan over, the young DeSeer's attention went immediately to the hybrid.
Technically, we're done here. The rest of the work is entirely in the hands of the intel division operating out of the house. But I'm not leaving for a few days yet; I intend to observe the shrine directly. Mostly, I don't trust this. Secondly, there are some details I need to ascertain for myself...nothing that'll have any bearing on you, though, so if you're homesick, I can arrange you to head back that way. I'm sure Roan will like the company.

The mention that Roan was back in the mansion immediately caught Will's attention; it had been a while since he had heard from her, or heard anything on how she and the others had been doing for that matter.
"Roan's back? Damn, we must have just missed her when we left. No matter, I'm not going to be heading back just yet; your mission here is not over yet so that means that mine isn't over yet either. I still remember my promise to Roan to watch over you, and just because she is back at the mansion doesn't mean that my job is over yet. Though since we are not currently doing anything, I think I'm going to catch some shuteye; wake me up if you head out to do anything."
And with that, Will would lay back on the bed and slip off into unconsciousness.

Will do, kiddo.
With that, Iden took to a quiet, solemn vigil. Mostly, he had his own thoughts to contend with. Such would last for a fair while.
Come morning he would awaken Will, and take his shift for sleeping. And so things would continue; Iden was waiting for something; his forays into the shrine would persist for so long as they were there, but he doubted the Daemon would do anything worth the effort. No, Iden was waiting on word from the home office before charting his next course of action. That...or waiting for the outside influence he heavily suspected in being involved to take notice of the interlopers.
