DarkElf27 Plastic Valkyries would be fun, if the do come out, I might pick one up myself... For me it would be the cheap way to expand on my Elysians, I'd just get six Valkyries and make my entire platoon airmobile instead of getting more squads.

Hell hounds move and fire at the same speed as a Russ, but with less armor and power (albeit cheaper). Rough Riders are cool, but only fast on the charge, not to mention they are not vehicles. Valkeries ands Vultures would actually be fast, in all liklyhood. And even if thye're not, they will be more manuverable than standard guard vehicles due to their non-ground based nature. Honestly, I'm excited at the idea. Having an air-mobile guard army sounds like fun whee

Lady Blodwynn There's always the Salamander scout if theres a need for speed. For those who frequent Forgeworld and Imperial Armor books, most IG players don't. sweatdrop Hellhounds and cavalry still only move 6" most turns; the hellhound wouldn't be able to fire if it went faster, and the riders are crap in everything but the charge, that makes them mostly an expendable unit as all their power is on that first attack.

Rough Riders are efficient cavalry that can if good with the dice move and charge 24" in a single turn.
But the Imperial Guard never really was about fast support vehicles. The entire force moves as one juggernaut, with Sentinels, Rough Riders and Salamanders ranging ahead of the main force.
A Salamander can easily be converted from a Chimera or Griffon kit, all you need is a little plastic card, a spare autocannon and some crew for the back.

One of the guys I used to game with had a salamander. I never really saw the draw, though I considered converting one anyway. Basically, you're paying out your a** for an under strength, fast moving heavy weapons squad. I guess it could be useful for objective grabbing, but it was too underpowered to really amount to much.

Like most FW models its not meant for little kids or regular scenarios. Though it would've been better if it had improved comms right from the start.

A very deranged leftenant came up with this one some time ago during a long MSN chat about ze Germans, tanks, airplanes and superglue.
0 - 1 Cannister shot for the Leman Russ: +20 pts
Range: Hellstorm template Str 10 AP - Type: heavy1 / rending
Instead of firing a regular HE round the tank may opt to fire the cannister round. You select a target within range, place the template so that the narrow end is touching the gun barrel and roll to hit. If missed all models covered by the template are wounded on a 4+ (much like the rules regarding the Hellhound really)
Special Rule Shredder: Such is the force of the shot loaded within the shell that it ignores cover saves of 5+ and less. Any cover of this type hit by the template is removed from play, the massive amount of shot contained within the round simply shreds the cover, destroying it utterly!

Lady Blodwynn You really ought to give in to those cravings then, I know I would if I had the money 3nodding And in the latter part of that sentence, you hit the reason why I, and all those other drooling Guard players, don't.
