I went to see Disturbia on Saturday. It was good but a bit different.

i want to see disturbia it looks good.

we saw the reaping and dead silence last night at the drive in.

The reaping was surprisingly good. I'm not a big Hilary Swank fan, but I'm a fool for biblical horror stories (think Omen, exorcist, stigmata etc)

If you don't know the story, essentially Hilary Swank is a prof in Louisiana who is called into a small town in middle LA to figure out what is causing what appears to be the biblical 10 plagues of Egypt (river of blood, raining frogs etc). In the bei=ginning of the movie we see her debunk a "miracle" in chile and we later learn she has successfully debunked 48 miracles out of 48.

The town thinks a young female child is the cause of the plagues and she wants to disprove it. Might I mention she is not a religious woman, she is all about the science of things. She even scientifically "proves" that the original plagues weren't caused by god.

Kevin and I are fanatics about trying to figure out movies before they end. This movie kept us guessing right up to the end. It was stunning. When it was over we couldn't believe we didn't figure out the ending. They did a great job of giving you all the information, but leading you down the path they wanted you to follow until they were ready to reveal the whole thing to you.

Dead Silence on the other hand, sucked. I was prepared to be totally frightened by it and it completely disappointed me. I have to go do some housework, but I'll fill you in on Dead Silence later

*hugs*

edit: btw, the Reaping was filmed in St. Francisville, LA ... where we went last year in sept for our honeymoon and stayed at the haunted plantation. ^_^

We saw 300 this weekend with the free movie tickets we found at the family Easter egg hunt. 3nodding I lovedLOVEDLOVED it! The best battle scenes I've ever seen in a movie! I love how they slow it down so you can see what happens, and I like the drama and surprise of the little details they put into the battles. We agree this one needs to be bought on Blu-Ray when it comes out. If you don't like blood and gore, uh.. I suppose you can avoid watching it if you want. I heard before going in that there were generous amounts of male muscle shown, and there were! But I think there might have been equal amounts of topless females to offset it with. stare

Jason wants to see the Reaping, but I don't really care to. I like that you weren't able to predict it though.. does that mean it has a nice twist? I like twists.

We saw previews for something called The Invisible, I think, and I really want to see that. It sounds kind of like a guy who gets killed (or maybe nearly? I'm not sure from the previews) and doesn't realize it and walks about and nobody can see/hear him, and to undo it, he has to solve his own murder, I think.

yea there's a twist in the reaping. I hate saying that cuz then you'll look for it, but it was so unexpected it threw us completely off

told you 300 was amazing!!! It was actually playing in the drive in screen next to us last night. after our movies were over we actually tuned into the other screen's sound on the radio and watched the last bits of it. I can't wait to own that movie. We still have to see it on IMAX

Just saw the preview for the invisible yesterday too. Now that looks really good

too bad we don't live closer we'd have so much fun seeing movies and eating sushi(you know, once the little one is born and all)

I acquired a copy of 300 in New York. Also have a copy of Blades of Glory and The Last Mimsy. Finally I got to see 300. That was soooo awesome. I still want to see it on the big screen but wow...

Is Disturbia the one with Anthony Hopkins?

When it comes out, avoid Disaster Movie at all costs. I went to an advanced screening because my friend got free tickets. Seriously, I want my money back. Talk about horrible, it has to be about the worst film I've ever had to sit through. I've seen Troma movies that were infinitely better than this piece of garbage. There's no excuse for just how bad it is.
