Dante sucks? Sounds more like your line of work. Impressive, for a gender confused shrimp. Did I mention Im cheating in this little tournament? You dont mind me making the players dance for a while, right Dante?

*Rake seemed infuriatingly amused at the little exchange between Dante and Quint, its mind brushing against hers to further rub the jibe in, its laughter flickering between them. It made no move to attack or stop Quint however*

A brief sigh fell from Quint. She wanted to make them pay for their jokes, and she would, but she understood that going in without a clear head would quickly cause her to lose her own. It almost felt like high school all over again, except the bullies could actually back up their taunts with violence.

"Cheating?" Quint asked, surprised that a being such as Rake would resort to dirty tactics. "...What do you mean?"

Catgirl Gatz appeared suddenly, wearing a cheerleading outfit and waving pompoms. Appearently the entity had decided to try and provide some emotional support for the alchemist.

"Quint, Quint, she's our man! If she can't do it, I probably can!" she yelled with a smile.

... Judging from the choice of lyrics, Gatz had some rather odd ideas when it came to supporting his friends.

Yes, cheating. Im the villan, remember? You said so yourselves.

*It smirked and lashed its tail*

As for what exactly I have in mind... I would so love to let you find out for yourself. You people just DONT pay attention. I'll give you a clue. Its a trick I pulled once already the FIRST time I kicked your a**. As for your friend over there... I suggest you tell it to stay out of this unless you want me to skip this fun little game and get stright down to slaughtering things. Maybe your sister first?

Mandy had been watching the rather boring scenario for some time. She leaned on a tree simply near bye, with Little intention of interfering at all, and only brought attention to her presence with the sound of a light yawn, at least, until she found Quint psyched out from the last exchange of words. She figured the girl had rather suddenly became unstable from such a statement, not to mention, it'd probably be sometime before she would be able to concentrate enough to create the blade she needed.. For now, the only real conclusion she could make was one simple fact: Judging from how heavily Quint had taken the comment, She must've really had herpes. Mandy then made mental note to keep even more distance from many of the islands inhabitants, who knows what illnesses may have spread...

Turning, Quint spotted Gatz, happy that someone had come to see her fight.

"Haha, thanks. Don't worry though, you probably won't have to." Quint smiled confidently.

"The first time?" She struggled to remember. She could recall the shock, blacking out, then not much else.. "You mean that shocky thing you did? Yea, I remember that. Fret not, I won't be making the same mistakes again."

Picking up the last unrefined piece of Bauxite, she calmly transmuted the element, slowly forming a sword. Quint toiled with the blade, sharpening and tempering it to give her sword a fine edge. However, with the last exchange of words, it leaving her head not fully focused, the sword wasn't as strong as should would have liked. The hilt would be made of her bats, giving it a great grip and feel, covering her hand fully, partially guarding her fingers and wrist from some likely shock. Quint nodded; she would need any help she could get.

Quint stretched her limbs, taking a few practice swings.

"We've been here for quite some time, and we--I'm just getting old by sitting around talking. I know we'd both like to get this over with, so let us do that."

Right hand on her hilt, the other covered in the Aluminum Oxide she created, Quint crouched slightly, ready to move at a moment's notice. With her deadly sword pointed at Rake, she mentally calmed her mind. It would take a sure head, steady sword, and powerful magic, but she felt that she was ready to take on the task.

Her life depended on it.

“Not at all. Besides, you seem more suited to fight Quint that I, what with the lack of reproductive organs and all.”

Such was the response that he gave to Rake. There was no way that Dante was going to back off from that dead horse. Though he honestly didn’t realize that Quint had herpes prior to her obvious overreaction to his jest, he damn well did now. Furthermore he had no intentions of letting anyone, not even Rake, know otherwise. The gears had already begun to turn in his mind of ways to utilize that anger of Quint’s. He had made her think that someone had revealed to him her darkest secrets, and he had in mind just the perfect martyr.

“Are you certain that you really want to do this Quint? If you die here, everyone will only remember you as the girl who wasn’t wise enough to wear protection. That and the person who’s been spreading such tales will still be alive. Wouldn’t you rather repair your reputation before your untimely demise?”

He had no intentions of revealing the name too quickly. That would make him seem far too eager to get the information out. Eager enough for one to see the fallacy, as far as he was concerned. Though Quint’s anger would probably keep her from realizing the lie right off, Dante wasn’t about to take the chance of being wrong.

Her stare still fixed on Rake, Quint's mouth frowned slightly.

"I have no intentions of dying. Even if I do, of which there's a small chance of happening.." She smirked, that a final, catty remark to Rake, "I don't care what they think."

Quint spoke loudly, telling everyone what she thought. "I am me, nothing more, nothing less. I did what I did for reasons of my own, and if there's anyone who will judge my motives, it will be ME!

I make the rules in MY life; I say what will and will not happen in it!

I. Will. Not. Die."

Dante would have made a great negotiator; he was good at getting under someone's skin, and into their heads. Quint was quite livid, but one had to ask: Would it work in her favor?

You like your heroes and martyrs, huh? Then fine. I have all the time in the world for this little diversion.

*Rake flared its wings back, spread its arms and brought its legs together, rising a few inches off the ground. Dropping its head, it looked crucified on an invisible cross.
When its eyes rose, they were dripping malice, its mouth drawn into a wicked grin as the red circles under its feet made their appearance, revolving gently*

Here I am. One lamb to the not-to assured slaughter. Give it your best shot Quint. Its the only one you'll get.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 16, 2006 10:46 am

A siren blared in Quint's head, courtesy of her bats.

"That's a trap if I've ever seen one."

They were right, Rake did seem too willing to be struck, and those circles meant something, or else they wouldn't be there. Shuffling forward, Quint spoke to Rake.

"I thought we were going to fight, not see how much pain I could inflict. But...if you're feeling masochistic today, I have no right in stopping you."

Running now, Quint prepared her attack, the sword in her hand still warm from transmutation. Wanting strength and speed in her strike, more bats were used to cover the left hand, having to use a lot considering that the hand was enveloped with a thick sheet of metal.

Closing in, Quint let out a stabilizing breath, paying close attention to Rake and its immediate surroundings. Rake said itself that it was playing dirty; Quint had no room for screw-ups.

Contact. With enough force to cause some sand to lift, Quint swung her blade at Rake's torso, simply trying to get past her first and now second layers of skin. After her first cleave, she did the reverse, cutting again. In a flash she continued her assault, still looking for any movement from Rake's arms or legs. She spotted none, so she went on to her next blow.

There was some scarring on Rake's body, enough to see a few ribs. This was all Quint would need, at least for now. Returning the sword to her side, Quint's bats released their hold on her left hand, and she quickly punched straight to Rake, past her electrical field, hitting its torso with great force. There was a slight sting as her hand passed the barrier, but it wasn't even close to stopping her while she opened her fist, intense heat coming from her palm. The fire was so strong, Quint began to sweat, but she couldn't tell if it was from the flame, or from her anxiety. Once enough heat was placed, so much that Rake's bones looked red, Quint changed the element, a sudden freeze being felt by the daemon. This stage of her attack left Quint a bit weaker with every casting of her spells, but onward they went, until the ribs that were affected looked brittle and weak.

Now Rake's chest looked like a cheap 'Operation' model, and with a final, fierce blow, its ribs would likely give up, causing the daemon to gain an acute case of Flail chest.

Backing her hand away, she wound it up. It was her left hand, which meant her weaker one, but the force from her blow would likely be great enough to fracture the fragile bones.

Quint's fist seemed to be a blur as she put her entire body into the blow.

"You say that like slaughtering things is a bad thing..." Gatz responded with a pout. She made no move to interfer at this point in time, however.

"Hmm... you really shouldn't cheat, Rake," the entity said off handly, hands on her hips. "I'm not delusional enough to think that there is really such a thing as 'cheating' in a real fight. And of course this is all just a game anyways... But all the purpose of playing a game in the first place is lost if one does not confine themselves to the rules of the contest. If you cheat the victory is empty--so even if you win, you wind up losing."

The entity's eyes windened a bit as it made a connection.

"--Hey! By admitting you've cheated, you've already lost the game that you precive!" Gatz raised an arm (and pompom) a triumphantly towards her friend. "Victory to Quint! heart "

Mandy shrugged in the background, and pushed her back off the Palm's trunk, taking a few steps forward in the sand, nearing Gatz as she continued forward.. "I don't think theres such a thing as Cheating.." She shared her own point of view.. "Do what you need to do to get what needs to be done... Done."

With that said, Mandy didn't fail to stop walking forward. She felt a certain 'need' for Rake's disappearance, for she completely doubted that Rake would leave the island in any profitable condition, no matter what deals were made. The shadow of Quint's blade began to tremble and spaz, Only to suddenly whip from the girl's body, rise from the ground, and completely Fuse itself Onto Mandy's right hand. The shorter blond girl's dead, dark eyes looked into those of Quint from behind Rake's levitating arms, "I don't see why such a plan wouldn't work." She said with her same monotone, and the black hues of her blade Gave away to reveal an exact replica of Quint's own blade, perfect to the last detail, and just had sturdy.

Mandy herself suddenly darted for Rake's own tail in attempts of severing such a useless limb, and would quickly thereafter jut it's length straight through the back of the beasts Abs, a move that would sever whatever Spinal cord it may have.

Shadows near the edge of the glade where the trees stop and the sande begins begin to bubble slightly; slowly it becomes dark and inky black, as though a pool of ink were slowly spreading on the ground in a rather large puddle. The bubbling becomes more fervent and a dark hand reaches up from it's depths. The darkness slips away to reveal golden bronze skin, slowly moving to a shoulder and then locks of shining silver spilling over swirling dark irises set in crimson almond-shaped hues. The rest of his handsome features follow soon after, soft lips and a strong jaw. Collarbone coming into view he flashes a smirk before the rest of his body emerges.

A lithe, but muscular stomach and chest, smooth flesh seemingly smoothed over hard muscle like silk over steel. His shoulders were broad, his waist slim. Leading to his slim waist dipping lower to reveal more perfect flesh over the shadowed girth of his leg muscles. Ridge over ridge tense as he rises to his feet. Smoothing back a few stray locks away from his face he tilts his head back and stretches his arms back and then crosses them to work the kinks out with a few audible pops here and there.

A rumbling growl echoes frm the back of his throat as swirls of the ichorous substance engulfs his body so that when it drips slowly down his lower backside and upper torso as he comes to the verge of the forest to view the situation at hand.

So this was the one known as Rake. Not too shabby.

He'd managed to catch the tail end of the exchange of insults and was now viewing the fight going on with interest. Ou of the corner of his vision he noticed Dante, who from what his informants told him was helping Rake with her machinations on this island.Personally, the incubus found it's actions quite entertaining. This island was in dire need of some excitement anyway. He simply hoped that whatever this Rake had planned didn't end up destroying the island. He'd been told by Morrigan to watch the Estate while she was away and doubted she'd like to come home to a dsetroyed one even though they could likely just create a new one.

So he decided to watch, crossing his arms over his chest he made no effort to hide nor did he really mak ehimself seen. He was just there. Dante would likely sense him and if he wanted tp engage in a litle conversation while Rake dealt with it's opposition then fine.

Dante had indeed felt Loki as he appeared in the shade just off the edge of the beach. The only reason that his presence was not yet acknowledged was because Dante was busy trading off insults. The first move of the fight was really all he needed to see at this point. He knew exactly what Rake was attempting, and was nothing less than befuddled at how easy not only Quint, but also Mandy, had made it. The only way this fight would not end in a fatal way at this point was through diving intervention, early into the fight though it may have been.

So as Dante had little to worry about, he headed in Loki’s direction. His intentions were far more friendly towards the Incubus than they were to the island’s residents simply because there was respect present. That and the fact that, should he win Morrigan and gain suitor-ship, Loki would be almost like family to him.

“I was wondering when you were going to show.”

"Dante-"
The whisper of a voice that spoke for his ears only sounds from behind him as a pair of hands reach around his head, arms that were soft and feminine yet elegantly muscled, pulled him into a tight embrace as the demi-goddess' head breaks the surface of the vertical pool of air she seemed to be emerging from, full lush lips parted in a gasp as if she had been holding her breath, her short silver platinum hair strewn about her face and partially concealing her wild matching silver eyes. The rest of her body slipped from the near invisible rupture in time and space, her body supported on her forearms on Dante's shoulders, his head nestled between the two orbs that made up her generous bust size.

She was dressed sparingly, a low cut blue bolero jacket that had not been zipped yet had not slipped from its possision from covering a decent portion of her breasts. Her sleeves were rolled past her elbows and the only item worn on her arms or hands was the slave, a peice of jewelery, hers silver, that attaches a bracelet to a ring with a chain, that jingled ever so slightly due to the two rings the bracelet was linked to. Her pants rode low on her hips, if, in fact, you could call them pants, for it was as ifhe wore tight lycra chaps that matched the blue of her jacket. Her outfit was completed with calf-high gray-black boots that remained fashionably loose from the ankle up.

"Dante, I have not seen you in ages, have you forgotten me?" she asked in a simple voice, akin to a child's curiousness in tone as well as a hint of a more adult playfullness.
