The wave of flame rushed out of my wand and into the dirt below my body burning the snare who dared to try and end my life in such an demeaning manner. The power I put behind that spell not only burned the snare deep down in the earth but the hedges in the immediate area, where singed as the spell burned up though the roots of them as well.

Aludra Yvette...

She didnt dare open her eyes as long as her spell was still active. Aludra had never used it before so she didnt know of it effect on her eyes, and in this competition it was too risky to test it out now. Slowly, she felt the Devil's Snare loosen up its hold on her neck, but it still had a bloody good grip on the rest of her. The light had done its job of mellowing it down, now she had to relax to. The more she moved and was fearful, the angrier the vines would get and the faster it would kill her. "I just have to calm down. If I am calm, you cant hurt me, you'll just go away." she said soothingly to herself, though it was hard to be soothed when you were on a rock hard ground, but nonetheless she had to try.

Aludra envisioned herself laying in a herbal bath, the lavender steams filling up her senses and releasing all the tension that was building up inside of her body. She gave an release of breath and the Devils Snare seemed to do the same. The vines unraveled themselves from her and slithered back into its confinds in the dark depths of the maze. Aludra flicked her wand to remove the effects of the Lumo Solem and sat up just in time to see the last of the wines going under the hedged wall to her left. The last of the vines that were going in seemed to be waving her a goodbye, thanking her for the soothing bath.

It took her a few minutes to realize now was not the time to by laying on the ground saying goodbye to a deadly plant. She had more important things to do, but still couldnt help but feel a chuckle developed and tickle her throat. "Goodbye little friend, I deeply hope we never do meet again." she confinded into the leaves. Aludra got up to her feet and set off on a brisk run. She had lost too much time, she would probably never make it out of the maze before her time limit was up, but she had to try. It wasnt long before she came to another dead end, and when she tried to go back to rerun the way she came, that way was blocked off and a new path had opened. Maybe the maze wanted her to go this way. It wasnt like she had a choice in the matter otherwise. It was the only way to go. Against her better judgement, Aludra followed the new path the maze had made for her, praying that no more misfortune lay ahead of her.

I drew in ragged breaths, the air had an ash taste to it, but none the less it was sweet oxygen and my body needed it desperately. Massaging my throat I felt around to see if the snare had fractured my hyoid bone. I didn't seem that way but it hurt something terrible, I wouldn't be singing any time soon.

Getting up off the ground, i brushed the dirt off my robes, and took in the sight of the carnage I let loose with that spell. It had burned quite a bit of the hedges in both directions. Shrugging it off, I thought well the bloody plant was trying to do me in, and it paid for it.

Right....Left....Right...another left...more dead ends...retracing my steps I took the right path instead. Jogging along this path hoping that I was drawing closer to the exit, I'd been in here for over 2 hours, beaten bitten, kicked around and nearly suffocated. This entire time I hadn't given a thought toward Aludra and Liv and how they were faring. Whispering a prayer to what ever god was listening I hoped that nothing had happened to either one of them.

Liviana was moving even slower than before. Her gnome wounds were bleeding again, but she had no time to stop and tend them. With all the time she has wasted, the others were certainly out of the maze and making jokes on the sidelines about how slow she was.

Liviana cringed. 'Stop that,' she said to herself. 'They would be happy you're alive.'

Still, she could not find her way around this gardener's nightmare. Coming to yet another fork in the paths, she decided to go left. No, right.

The girl stood between the two walkways, and shook her curled hair in frustration. Each path led to disaster. Slowly, she hobbled to the right and took a few steps, then turned on her heel and went back to the left. This had to be the right way.

Or not.

The maze continued to block her path each time she thought she was near her goal. Each turn Liviana took only landed her deeper and deeper into the unknown; unknown if it was the right way, unknown if she was the only champion left, and unknown if she would meet a swift death.

Quickly, like the other distractions had been, another creature emerged to distract the champions. This creature also made a hissing noise, but it was not like the spider's had been. It was real, clearer, coming from an actual snake. It was huge, coiled up in the darkness, making hissing and spitting noising, inclining it's head slightly from the shadows. It then began to curl itself around the champion's waiting feet, ready to squeeze the life from their body.

I was seriously getting tired of things trying to strangle me in this bloody maze. My frustration was reaching a blowing point. I didn't care that I was a trained wizard just about to graduate and start his career with the Auror's. I gripped my wand in my hand and lashed out with an upper cut, hitting the snake square in the jaw.

Aludra Yvette...

So far the new path before her held no suprises that she saw, but looks can be so deceiving in so many ways. Aludra broke into a frantic run just incase some hazardous plant or wicked little beastie was waiting for her to come creeping by before snatching her up. Instead of the beasties or wicked plants wanted to snatch her up, it seemed the maze wanted her as well. Just as she made it to the end of the long pathway, the maze shut close behind her, catching her robe.

"Oh! You little.." she fumed. Aludra tugged on the bottom of her school robes and ripped them loose from the monster hedge, leaving a great deal of the robes inside. At least now her school clothing had a bit of a ruffled edge on them. But why had the hedge closed so suddenly... maybe danger was near and it wanted to make sure that it found her. Aludra raised her wand, ready for whatever was lieing ahead.

Liviana was once again certain she had been this was before. But, then the entire place looked to be the smae all the way around. She shivered with a mixture of fear, pain, and cold as she watched a few snowflakes that escaped from the canopy of harsh frozen greenery covering the high walls of the maze.

Her feet ached, but she plodded along, wary of the time limit closing in. Maybe if she kept going, she would not run into anything else?

Crunch, crunch, crunch. The snow had begun falling heavier now, and a light coating landed on the ground, despite the thick briars that served as a ceiling.

Crunch, crunch, crunch. It was a pleasant sound, which Liviana found comforting in the uncaring maze. 'Though,' she thought, 'it may give away my position.'

Crunch, crunch, tump. Liviana paused. That was not snow she just stepped on. It felt like a root, or a branch. She turned around to inspect this mystery object under her petite foot.

A hissing noise came from very close by.

The sudden physical impact to its soft underside, caused the snake to let my go. Scurrying away I shouted at the snake, "WHY THE BLOODY HELL DOES EVERYTHING IN THIS MAZE WANT TO STRANGLE ME!" I narrowed my eye at this snake, this single target was about to experience all my built up frustration at this bloody maze. Laughing manic like I raised my wand and prepared to cast, the snake who had now regain its since struck again.

Liviana swiftly pointed her wand at this intruder, and cried, "Lumos!" Her efforts were awarded by two fangs snapping at the end of the wand.

Liviana jumped back, toppling over, and landing square on her backside. The reptile reared up, and came closer to the girl, and began trying to wrap itself around her legs.

Liviana would have none of that. She had already been bitten in the same place, strapped up and almost eaten once before, and nearly strangled before as well.

The Ravenclaw gripped her wand, and said with a still gruff voice, "If you think I'm going to let you do all that to me again, you're wrong!"

The snake hissed, and began striking at Liviana, who did her best to dodge the serpent's attacks. Forcing herself up, she aimed her wand, and waited for the right moment.

Just as the snake opened wide for another lunge, Liviana shouted, "Stupefy!" The snake took the spell full in the mouth, and was down for the count.

Grinning, Liviana took in the moment. She was not even close to death this time!

And then suddenly everything in her vision slanted. She backed up against one of the thorny hedges and held her hand to her face. Though everything was off-kilter, Liviana could clearly see two bleeding puncture wounds on her hand. In the filtered moonlight, they looked almost surreal.

Liviana began convulsing.

"I don't think so" I said crazed like, slashing with my wand I caused the snakes jaws to clamp shut. The snake trashed around trying to reopen its mouth and attack me. It lashed out with its tail hitting me in the chest causing the air to be forced out of my lungs and sent me flying though the air.

Getting up off the ground and swearing so much that it would cause even the saltest pirate to blush. I pointed my wand at the snake as it lased out again with its tail. The tail stopped mind way and then slowly tied it self in a loop, removing yet another tool the snake had in its arsenal.

The snake hissed and retreated, much like the spider had done, but somehow quieter and more menacing. ((The rest is now cosplaying, there will be no more distractions))
PostPosted: Wed Dec 29, 2010 9:32 pm

The snake trashed around unable to attack and unable to move properly thanks to my spells. My foe was defeated I should have just walked around it and continued on my way. But I had lost it I was crazed, this snake would pay for everything that had happened in this maze. A dark thought crept into my mind, it was a spell that I had felt used on my before. Once I was able to I learned what that spell was, I had to know. But I had always promised that I would never use it, however logic was all but lost on me now. I lashed out with my wand, a blue light whipped across the snaked body causing the snake to trash more, not in frustration but in pain.

Aludra Yvette...

Finally, one of Aludra's prediction was right, even if it wasnt in the greatest of circumstances. A snake, the mascot of her Hogwarts house and a well liked species of Aludra's, came slythering from under the hedged and wrapped itself around her feet. As a reptile, it hated the cold and dampness of the maze and it must have been searching for a warm body to wrap around. She smiled at the little creature and inclinded her own head at it, following its movements carefully. Aludra was a great lover of animals and would do anything to harm one, unless it tried to harm her first.

"Hello, my pet. Are we a little cold tonight." she said calmly, pointing her wand over at a nearby portion of brush. Mentally casting a spell, the brush caught flame, immediantly warming the air around them, making it comfortable for any cold-blooded creature of the night. But apparently not comfortable for this snake, it continued to slither up her body and wrap itself around her, as though she were a lover. It got more forceful as it winded it way around her waist and opened it mouth, flicking its reptile-like tongue across her arm. She had enough experience with snakes to know you need to stay absolutely still and clam. The restless ones will usually get bored and go off to find more of a challenge.

But of course, Aludra's predictions had to be wrong some time. The snake continued on its path up and settled itself upon her shoulders, wrapping its tail end around her neck as the Devils Snare had did. What was it with dark creautres and their fasination with her neck? Aludra didnt want the snake to get too comfortable there, so she pointed her wand at the snakes face and prayed the spell worked properly. If it didnt... the snake would only be aggrivated further and get her bitten. "Alarte Ascendare!" she yelled. The snake let out a deafening hiss as it was shot 30 feet into the air, well above the height of the maze walls. Before the snake could land right back on her head, Aludra bolted from the area the snake was going to land and blazed around the corner with a silent prayer the snake would leave her in peace.
