Mie-tanuki Kon watched avidly, wide-open eyes fixed on the other's movements. He trotted forward to come closer so he could see what Ryu was doing better. After all, it was very interesting. Kon had never seen anyone make a man out of snow before - he'd have to watch carefully so he would be able to get it right if he ever tried. But... then... why would someone want to create a living being out of snow. His expression mingling confusion with perplexion, Kon asked, "Neh... Ryu... why do people make other people out of snow...?" Ryu looked up at Kon and laughed a little, his eyes glittering just like the snow. "You don't really make people- I mean, they don't come to life or anything. They just...look like people, so we call them snowmen. Snow in the shape of a man."

"Ah..." Kon murmured. He thought he understood better now, but he couldn't help but blush with embarrassment at his own stupidity. Eyes lowering to his own feet, he fidgitted slightly in the crisp snow. He should have known that humans wouldn't create artificial humans out of snow. "But then... why do you do that?" he asked, unable to contain his curiosity.

Ryu stood up, abandoning the mound of packed snow, and brushed off his hands of the snow that insisted on clinging upon his warm flesh. Hands at least decently warmed up, he put one under Kon's chin, forcing the boy to look back up. "What's wrong...?" He said rather softly, his concern glittering in his eyes but otherwise undetectable.

"Nothing..." he murmured, confusion lingering in his gaze. "Kon just... Kon has a hard time understanding," he mumbled, flushhing a delicate shade of pink. He was also having a hard time meeting the other's gaze. Snow... snow reminded him of his family. He still loved it as well as them, but snow was no longer something purely happy for him. Part of him - the part that wasn't forcing itself not to pay attention to his memories - was saddened by what thoughts he allowed to penetrate his mind.

Ryu could tell that Kon was upset by something, but decided not to question it. He was feeling a bit down himself, and he didn't want to make things worse by bringing up painful memories. Ryu nodded, retracting his hand, and softly murmured "As long as you are sure..." His concern for the boy still showed clearly in his eyes, though Ryu was unaware of this fact.

Kon nodded and smiled, although it was a rather less bright smile than his usual care-free one. "Yes... Kon's sure..." he murmured. Kon had no idea just how transparent he was. All of his emotions showed clearly on his face and he didn't exactly look happy at that moment.

He was trying hard to ignore the sadness like he had been doing almost all day, but now that it was so much more obvoius it was impossible. "...You...aren't all right..." Why does he lie to me? " Can you tell me what is wrong? Can you tell me...anything?" Anything? Can you do that? Anything would be better than this...at least I would have something to work off of...but...Nothing...Please- don't leave me with nothing...

Kon sighed and ran his hand through his bright locks - a nervous tendancy he had picked up from one of his brothers. "Kon... Kon used to be in the snow a lot..." he murmured, eyes intently examining his shoes and the snow around them. "With Kon's family...." His voice was so quiet it was nearly inaudible, and yet it wasn't a whisper.

"I used to too...But I never had a 'family' per se- it was always just my mother and me...but she died..." He laughed a little, forcing a smile on his face " Haven't really been in the snow since- it just never could be the same..."

"Kon... Kon had a mother and father and three brothers and five sisters," he said, for once raising his gaze to meet the other's. He liked... he liked to remember his family. But only the good memories. The bad ones... that bad one - he didn't want to remember that. "But... Kon doesn't have them any more..."

He had asumed as much...and he could sympathise with Kon. "I...know you probably won't believe me when I say this, but I know how you feel..." Ryu looked up at the sky, the falling snow once again stinging his eyes but he really didn't care.

Kon shrugged. He didn't beleive anyone could really understand what it was like to see the murder of loved ones. He had, after all, seen it. Not all... but the end. He had watched as the men did their evil and then left, silent tears dripping from his eyes. He had burried what was left of them... The men had, after all, taken their fur. It was... It was disgusting just how evil men could be. So then why was Kon drawn to them...?

Tears normally accompanied discussions such as these, and honestly he was fighting back tears in his own eyes. "I...I know I don't know everything...can't understand everything- not exactly anyway. But..." slowly he lost his mask of calmness and a tear rolled down his cheek, soon accompanied by another. "I...I do know your pain..." He looked away, not wanting the other to see his anguish so clearly written on his face.

The other might hide his tears, but Kon was now openly wailing, large, diamond tears rolling down his cheeks until they hardened and froze in the cold, turning into tiny crystals. He rubbed at his eyes, sniffling loudly. But the tears kept comming. He was completely blinded by his own tears now - unable to see anything clearly. "Kon... Kon hates living without them!!" he sobbed, tears cascading down his rosy cheeks and dripping saltily into his mouth.
