Something changed, every fiber in her being suddenly seemed to turn on him. Quicker then he could figure the injured girl could she was turned with rage flashing in her eyes, a threat surely echoing behind them now. "It has not ended me yet, and so I persue it, if you even had a fracture of an idea as to what I've done..."
He laughed harshly, "And what will happen? Will I be banished again only to be called on to save those who banished me? They call me the betrayer but they betrayed me and begged for me to help them in the end because I was right and I knew I was from the beginning."
As she pushed by his anger began to rise, like a dragon waking from a deep sleep, the imbalanced portion of his mind, so paranoid and twisted started to whisper into his ear. "Do not walk their path... do not misjudge my intentions and my power..." he hissed quietly, "And this is what you give to me in return after your life and my offer were given."

Teti could feel his rage mounting and yet she remained unaffected somehow, as though the notion that he could really do her damage did not frighten her. "And you forget where you are." She said, her tone calm again all though she raged beneath the surface. She turned to face him again, her body rigid and emotionless. "This is not your home, this is not your world, the rules are different here. The penalties here are not as safe as banishment. Stop playing the fool and be a man. Or are you so deluded by your past existance that without such fantasies and illusions you cannot function?" Her eyes flashed in the light, her long hair illuminated by the dancing flames that now stood at her back while she looked defiantly up at this male who seemed to stretch her nerves and her patience to the breaking point.
"No one asked you to save me, to pity me. You want gratitude? You picked the wrong b***h." She was ungrateful, she was infuriated and she was helpless to stop or to change herself. If she could she wouldn't. This was how things were. "I walk my own path, I choose to see what's really there as opposed to what I wish to see. I never said I was any better or any worse than others. I am stronger because I am not deluded. Perhaps you would do well to take a lesson from reality." She was still injured, yes, but she felt a renewed vigor course through her lithe frame.

The voices demanded blood but common sense held out and he held his blows for the injured Triackster. "It does not matter where I am, I can still gain my power. And perhaps you would realize is the past that influences the future, mistakes have been made and they will not be repeated." He glared down at her, his 'eyes' flaring with rage.
"Keep talking like that, you would wish to be dead? It can be easily arranged so that its exactly what you get." He snarled flexing his fists in controlled rage debating simply striking now and being done with it all. "Is that what you really want? To have died out there?" Slowly his hands would reach out open and harmless at the moment to rest open on her shoulders claws menacing and ready to sink should she attack. He leaned closer his blind fold now hardly able to conceal the dark sockets filled with ghastly green flames "With power, you can make reality, and I am going to stress this one more time, you either take that, or I be rid of you..."

She felt the weight of his paws like a cold clamp of repression, but she flinched not. Her eyes still locked upon his face where she noted the flicker of green flame behind the concealing fabric. Yet this did not distract her for long, her tail raising, swaying warily behind her in the event he attacked her, she would not be the only one suffering. "The past is only useful if you learn from your mistakes. You seem to be unable to do this and therefore you will fail, utterly and completely."
Ah, the threat of death. How many times had death looked at her and found her wanting? Many. Her slender eyebrows furrowed as she looked at him, an expression of anger and coldness yet she did not answer him until his ultimatum came, at which time she finally chose to speak again. "You cannot be rid of that which you never had." Her choice was made, she would stand for none of his so called 'ideals', she found him arrogant and foolish.

"Have you known me to be anything else?" Came his reply. Kebas was never only to really tip toe around things. At least not all that much anyway. His ears twitched from the sound of her tail brushing against the furs beneath them. The silken fur meshing with the slightly rougher and much less 'groomed' furs. It was a lovely sound. And the feel of her fur was even more exciting. If she wasn't careful he'd just have to make a little rug out of her. The thought brought a smirk to his lips before he banished it to the back of his mind.
No, he'd not want to turn her into a rug. What was the point in having a Rinko rug if he couldn't make it squeal?
As she stood up and declared that she was hungry, the male rolled over and flopped onto his back. A heavy sigh sound escaping his lips as the air was pushed from his lungs from the flop. Long hair spreading around his head and draping across his shoulders. "That's a total mood killer..." Kebas whispered it under his breath. Dammit, she had gotten him all riled up and now this? If she kept this up he didn't know how he'd survive. "What are you hungry for then?" Gold eyes lidded half way as he glanced up at her. The tip of his tail flicking back and forth across the floor as he moved his paws behind his head to give himself a little pillow. He, himself had already eaten. So really it was all her. And he hoped he wasn't going to have to go running about in the rain. Though he figured that's what was going to happen.
Ventash'ma shook his head as she offered him the bottle. He was fine for now. The run hadn't left him too winded. Of course, he was used to running so much that he could pretty much run for quite some time before becoming tired.
His tail intertwined with his mate's as he lead them all off towards the hot springs. And not too long after the air started to grow thick with moisture and a light mist. As they drew closer the sound of bubbling water filled the air and the mist had thickened, growing warmer and warmer as the springs soon came into view.
"See, told you it wouldn't take us too long to get here. Just a few minutes walk." Relinquishing his arm from around her shoulders Ventash'ma moved towards one of the larger spring's edges. Kneeling just a bit to run his paw through the water. "And I don't think it'll be too hot for Chath either, so that's a plus." Even if he wasn't too keen about water a nice dip in the hot springs was always a welcome event. Something about the water just made everything melt away.
She hadn't payed much attention to the goings on as her mother had carried her to wherever it was going. Tiny bits of Aullana's fur were still clasped in her paws.
But once the air started to thicken, Chath's ears perked up. It was an odd change in the atmosphere of where they had been. And her curiosity grew a little bit more as the sound of the bubbling springs reached her ears. Turning her head slightly, she watched as her father walked over to one of the pools of water. Mist and steam rising up towards the sky. Some lingering in the air around them. Reaching out a paw, the kit tried to grab at some but once opening her paw realized that she had missed. But how was that possible? She could see it but not grab it?
Odd.

Rinko cocked a brow, looking at him almost haughtily for a moment as she raised up and leaned on one leg more than the other, her hip jutting out enticingly as she placed a paw upon it. "I heard you. Mood killer huh?" She pursed her lip, batting those long, lovely eyelashes at him slowly and tilting her head to the side while placing a delicate claw to her chin in thought. "How can we solve this dillema, hmn? I suppose I could eat my dinner off of you if you really need it. That actually sounds delightful." The Meanki gave a soft, purring sound as she slipped atop her mate, softly, enticingly. "What do you think about that? Or I could just eat you, instead." She bit him in the shoulder roughly, smiling like an imp, her tail swaying as she gave a half growl, half purr.
Rinko found herself quite aroused by the play and her need for food was put on hold. Her ears perked forward, feeling quite feral for some reason as she released herself from his shoulder and bit the upper portion of his neck, her legs straddling him as she sat on his stomach and her claws prickled his chest, as though testing the strength of his pelt and muscle. She wanted to play, she wanted to make love, she wanted it all and she was growing tired of drawing her needs out. She'd have him soon, or she'd be a b***h about it. You can take the Meanki out of the city but you can't take the city out of the Meanki.. in a manner of speaking anyway. She seemed to be enjoying his style of living well enough anyway.
{-Hahaha, Aullana's diiiiirty. XDDD-}
Aullana followed Ventash'ma up until he released her to check the heat, she stood, holding their baby and enjoying the warm sensation of the air surrounding the hot springs. It had been a while since they'd last been and she found herself missing the time spent in the steamy waters, especially with Ventash'ma. She blushed and looked off into the forest, trying to think clean. It wasn't working. Oh dear, well, she supposed it was bound to happen sometime. Of course, she always thought of him, just not always like this. Chath snapped her back to reality and she blinked, a little ashamed of herself for spacing off and thinking dirty thoughts about her mate while holding a baby of all things.
She shook her head, quite pink aross the cheeks by now as she stood beside Ventash'ma and looked into the waters, trying not to make eye contact. "O-oh.. is it? Good, bath-time should be a bit easier then.." Yep, easy. Easier for the baby. Why was the warm air and the thought of bathing in a hotsprings so, sultry? She never felt so strongly about.. well, ok, that wasn't true. But not like this anyway. She tested the water with a footpaw and scooped a bit up for Chath to sniff or drink or splash in, whatever she'd like to do while her mother tried not to slip into shame. Aiya..

Kebas chuckled deeply, running his claws through her long hair with an almost distant look in his eyes. "Well, at least we know your ears are working properly." His ears perked slightly as she bit his shoulder, watching her tail sway back and forth before a delightful grin came upon his face. "Might get kinda sticky. And if you eat me then where would you be? Someone with a half eaten mate I'm sure."
Another chuckle came. He didn't want to keep Rinko from eating anything if that was what she wanted, but it seemed at the moment food was the least of her thoughts. Who knew food could be so...sensual? The male wondered if that was the correct term to use. Either way.
He let out a small growl as she bit his neck, paws sliding up and down her thighs. Digging his claws lightly into her skin as he moved upward and then retracting them as his paws moved downward. "So I guess your not as hungry as you thought, eh?"
(( *giggles* XD ))
The male had no clue what his mate was thinking. And he cocked an eyebrow as he spotted the small blush upon her cheeks. A slight chuckle passing through his lips as he shook his head.
Silly girl.
The last time they had been here was before Chath was born. And what they had done while here probably would make anyone blush. Of course, that was the reason their little girl was here today. After that life had become a little too busy with the kit for much alone time. Perhaps sometime they'd be able to find a babysitter for her and then they could have some time to themselves. He was sure that his father, or even his grandfather might not mind watching over her for an evening.
"Mmhmm." Nodding his head, Ventash'ma took to sitting on the edge of the spring. Dipping his feet into the warm waters before entirely slipping in. Submerging himself for a brief moment before his head broke the surface of the water. "Well come on then. No time like the present to take a nice dip."
Chath leaned forward. Sniffing at the water her mother had scooped up and held up to her. A small mist rose from it which caused her to go slightly wide eyed.
What kind of water was this?
She tapped a little paw in it. Testing it. Didn't seem dangerous. And soon a large grin spread across her face as she splashed her paw in it a few more times. A little giggle every now and again.
Didn't seem like it would be too bad.

Her words spoken their was nothing left to be spoken of. Quietly he would continue to stare at her, flames flickering silently behind his blindfold. "My mistake, was thinking I was untouchable, I've learned otherwise, but I will still reach my goal." He finally said in a hushed tone, like a father to a child.
"Then be gone." And with that his hands quickly shifted, pressure points were hit, her throat was held tight, the world would begin to spin, a hand would come free and a fist would form in her blurring vision before a thumping throb of pain crossed her forehead and the world would turn to black.
With the girl dealt with he would turn to face his cave wall, at once he started to remove everything he had put in place. He would then go into the wall again, quietly working as the Trickster slept in her forced sleep. When she awake again a message would be left behind.
You would have been useful, and maybe you still are. Live to fight another day God-Child. Beyond this message was a rough map, a sun rising and setting, east to west, and an arrow pointing up from their, suggesting north. The path the Betrayer would take.

"Oh I'm still hungry, you're just more interesting than food." Rinko sat on his hips, she didn't weigh a lot so it shouldn't have been too uncomfortable for the larger male. She leaned forward, brushing her lips across his own before she kissed him deeply, biting his lower lip and sliding away gently before releasing. Looking down at him and tilting her head to one side, her long hair falling over her shoulders and across her body like earthen silk. Rinko wondered how life out here would be, she wondered how life would progress. The Meanki was strong willed and more than willing to sacrifice the posh life to live outdoors with her man. Though she might have to make trips into town to sate her urban needs. It could easily work out. And besides, they were both pretty self-sufficient. Even if they missed one another as soon as they were apart.
Rinko's tail swayed across his legs, her legs tucked back for comfort as she looked down at him. Placing her paws on his chest, she leaned forward slightly in order to see his face better. The sound of the rain relaxed her muscles and cleared her mind, the atmosphere charged and refreshed. How she loved the rain, it always took her bad mood and squashed it. Not that she was always in a bad mood. "I'd rather have you for dessert anyway, but following dinner rules is silly. So dessert always comes first." She smiled, flashing her sharp, white canines as she leaned forward and kissed him along his neck, her tail swaying slowly, rhythmically.
Aullana closed one eye as the water in her paw was splashed up and about across her face. But she found it rather humorous and giggled softly. Her eyes lifted, watching as her mate submerged himself and bade them join him in the relaxing waters of the Hotsprings. Yeah, she remembered what had taken place here and the memories made her face heat up as if she'd already spent too long bathing. But she took a step forward and slipped in, trusting her mate's judgement on temperature. She wasn't the type to have to test everything herself or distrust others she had faith in. The water was so warm that she instantly sighed, submerging her body up to her chest and Chath, slowly, up to her waist.
It felt so wonderful. "It's great! It's always so nice here." Her gaze roved the smokey looking waters before coming to rest on Ventash'ma. Oh, he was so handsome. How had she lucked out? She'd been so shy and he was so much more confident. She held the baby close to her chest as she watched him, blinking away quickly when she noticed she'd been staring and placing her attention on Chath. "What do you think?" She smiled, moving the baby out a little so she had room to splash and play. There was a shallower portion and if Chath felt confident, Aullana would place her there so she could play and bathe freely.

"I would hope so. If I ever became less interesting than food I'd probably just roll over and die." Kebas placed the back of one paw across his forehead. His fingers clenching into a fist as his claws overlapped his palms. Rinko's weight was nothing of discomfort. He was no tiny little male that'd be crushed under the slightest bit of pressure. And he always prided himself on his strength. But even he could be gentle at times. Though those times were short lived. No one could be soft all the time and he wasn't sure how some did it.
He knew his mate would easily as possible adjust to living out here. The male preferred it really. It kept him close to his roots and the clutter of Fae in the cities always made him feel claustrophobic. If she wanted to head into town to satisfy her urban needs, he'd wait patiently for her return.
His toes curled a bit as her tail brushed against his legs. The feel of her soft lips against his neck gave him goosebumps. Almost made him restless. "As long as you don't cover me in whipped cream and chocolate unless your willing to make sure it all comes off."
Smoothing back his wet hair, Ventash'ma moved to sitting beside his mate. Wrapping an arm around her shoulders. He'd noticed her staring at him out of the corner of his eye, in which he chuckled at internally. He didn't want to draw any attention to the fact that he had indeed seen her do it and spotted that blush that had taken to roaming across her face.
"Yea. These springs are always nice no matter what time of the year it is." His mind wandered back to the last time they were here. He wasn't one to blush as much as Aullana was, but it did give him a slightly tingly feeling in the base of his spine. His attention soon turned to their daughter who seemed to be enjoying the springs as well. That was a good thing.
She tensed her body a bit as she was lowered into the warm water. But as soon as she realized that nothing bad had happened, Chath took to splashing about in the water. Letting out a small squeal as she was held out a little furthur.
The kit could feel the shallow edge just out of the reach of her toes. And leaning back she kicked forward with her legs, trying to get her feet to land firmly on it. Little arms waving about as she let out another squeal, turning her head to look over her shoulder at her mother. Wondering if she'd actually let her go so she could explore this little area that wasn't too deep.

Rinko gave a slow, sultry laugh and slipped her paws into his own, resettling them above his head but carefully so as not to strain the joins and shoulders. She nibbled along the underside of one arm slowly, then moved back to look him in the eyes. Her own were pools of dark brown, the cavelight, low as it was, causing them to be resemble obsidian more than brown. The sound of rain was only growing stronger outside of their cave and she grew anxious as well as excited in the arms of her lover. "If that is what I become, a woman more obsessed with food than with men, I shall die myself!" Her ears flickered, giving a nod of both certainty and false distress before a smile curled along her lips and her claws flexed, toying with his own.
His words caught her attention and she leaned forward, stretching both of their paws up so her lips could hover above his own. Tilting her head she smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you'd like that, wouldn't you? Is that your idea of a bath?" She licked his cheek suddenly, giving him a nibble and chuckling despite herself over the humor she found in such a notion. "Don't tell me that's what I'm in for when I come home. A whipped cream covered mate saying 'I'm ready for my bath now, babe.' Because I don't get paid enough for that no matter how delicious.. wait, I don't get paid. Hmn.." The Meanki leaned back just a bit so that her face was a few more inches away from his own, giving her a clear view of the male. Damn, she felt sassy.
Aullana found herself the recipient of even more splashing, the water clinging to her hair like tiny dew-drops as she smiled over Chath's reaction to the Spring. The feel of Ventash'ma's arm about her shoulders made her sigh and smile warmly. Oh now, what was this? It looked like Chath wanted down. Aullana was a bit hesitant to let her go but gave in shortly after. She might as well explore, she couldn't go anywhere and they could easily scoop her up should she fall in. Setting the baby down on the shallow portion she smoothed back her wild hair, leaning back into her mate's embrace and looking up at him. "Do you remember when we were here last? It was so beautiful, the water feels exactly the same now as it did then." That blush still present. She remembered their last visit. It was hard to forget. Not that she wanted to forget. Never.
Aullana rested her head against his shoulder, her paw sliding into his lap and resting there casually and innocently enough. Her long hair was trailing across the surface of the water like silk, spreading out as it tumbled down her back and over her shoulders. She felt so content, completely happy and at ease. Though she couldn't quite understand her sudden sexual spike. It was odd and almost completely unlike her. Which was why she was doing her best to keep it quiet. A hard task when the man you loved was right beside you, holding you close. There she went again.. oh what was wrong with her? She was going mad. Right?

Kebas' fingers closed around Rinko's paws as she slipped her's into his. His arms stretching above his head once again and the muscle in his arm twitching slightly. His own golden eyes peering up at her beneath dark gray bangs that had fallen over them. A wry smile on his lips. "We'll just have to make sure that never happens then, won't we?"
"It sounds exciting, none the less." He laughed at the thought of it as she licked his cheek. Paws a bit too preoccupied at the moment to wipe it. His tail flicking back and forth against the ground beneath him. Dragging the crescent moon shaped charm along with it. "You never know. I'm just full of surprises." Another laugh as he cocked an eyebrow at her. "I wouldn't completely cover myself in whipped cream. That'd take too long to get off." The male's eyes squinted shut as he shot her a wide grin. The faint light glistening off his teeth. He tried so hard not to laugh too much. With his teeth clamped shut what did come out was mostly in a hissing snicker.
Ventash'ma slouched slightly against the side of the pool. Watching Chath with a cautious eye as she set off to do whatever bit of exploring she was going to do. Though he'd still be quick to react in case she did decide to take the plunge. Of course, it would be a pretty good way of teaching her how to swing on her own. That's how he was taught."Of course I do. Its not that hard to forget." Leaning over he kissed the top of his mate's head.
It really wasn't hard to forget. And thinking more about it kind of riled him up a bit. But he had to be good. It not like they were the only ones around. And it wasn't like they could just plop Chath into a tree and go trotting off somewhere. Casting a glance down at her, he chuckled at the blush still on her cheeks. "Seems you still remember it as well."
Chath squealed as she was finally let go. Her feet firmly planted onto the shallow little ledge. The bubbling water made her bob left and right. Nearly falling over into the water until she was able to get the hang of the moving water.
Moving just a tiny bit away from her cuddling parents, she poked at the drop off of the ledge before plopping her bottom down. The water coming up to right beneath her chin as she let out a giggle. It was like just her head was floating on top of the water. At least, one might think if they hadn't seen her out of the water in the first place. What an exciting though! A floating head! That'd be one sure fire way to startle someone.

"Oh I whole heartidly agree." She cooed, giving his lower lip another swift bite, her ears flickering as she smiled into the bite. Rinko leaned up, releasing him and sitting down. "While we have much to talk about, dear, you want to make with the chatter or make with the loving? Because if we're going to talk, I'm going to eat." She gave him a smug look, her paws sliding out of his and wrapping about her waist, accentuating her curves as she blinked seductively at her mate. Rinko could honestly do either at this point. He riled her up enough that she would forget about food. But if they kept playing cute she'd want to eat. At least she was giving him a choice.
Her tail swayed, brushing across his legs and over his thighs as she cocked her head down at the handsome, rougish male. Biting her lower lip, her eyes practically glossy in the darkness. She reached up a paw and brushed back a great mass of her long, silky hair. Sweeping it over one shoulder to get it out her her way while she sat contemplating him and awaiting his reply. "Hungry or Horny? Decisions, decisions.." She lifted both paws, making a show of weighing the options and favoring one then the other in turn. Her lips curling into a coy, flirtatious smirk.
Aullana managed to keep from spluttering and settled for a bright blush instead. Her eyes going elsewhere as she kept quiet. Of course she did.. and of course he saw it. She snuggled herself in closer to her mate, flooded by a kind of calm in his presence and relishing the closeness. It had been a while since they were alone. A good while. She sighed, not unhappily, merely in thought. Not since Chath was born. Yet she loved their baby and had no ill will or regrets in regards to their adorable little girl. Aullana found herself smiling then laughing as she spotted Chath's antics from across the way. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say we have a floating head for a daughter."
The springs bubbled and churned, the birds chirping overhead, as if accenting the air with complimnetary music. The female yawned softly, finding the heat was making her sleepy. Oh yes, they came here to bathe, didn't they? She looked up at her mate and offered him a warm smile. "Here, let me scrub your back. The trails made us all a little dusty." She liked that kind of work when it came to Ventash'ma. She liked the bonding it allowed and the time spent together. It wasn't just because she was being a little.. romantic.

The listless moon hung obscured in the late evening sky. Silver lined threads of cloud cover illuminated as they passed before the great orb, startling in both beauty and presence, the only beautiful thing for miles. The thin, half-dead sprawl of woods, however, was nothing but ominous. Sickly trees stood intermingled with the skeletal remains of their long dead brethren. Reaching skyward, as though for forgiveness or perhaps relief from their accursed plight. The ground lay barren, devoid of both plant and animal life with the exception of brushy, tumble-weed-like shrubs that half-heartidly dotted the landscape but offered little, if any, peace of mind to the wayward traveler.
In the thick of these trees lay a house, in fact, it was far more than a simple house. It was a grand, though long past it's prime, plantation. It sat looking melancholy and in disrepair, the only sign of life being the few lights flickering in various window-panes. Yet even those did little to comfort as it appeared perfectly capable of ghostly residents in place of the flesh and blood variety. The air was warm, sticky as the swamps lay not too far from the plantations property line, lightning bugs flashed and died away, somewhere in the distance a nightingale called mournfully. The soft crying of a baby shocked it's way through the air, adding an eerie warning to the already malevolently charged atmosphere. It was no wonder this place was avoided like the plague, then again, The Black Cat would have had it no other way.
The house had a large, wrap around deck that must have been handsome in it's prime but now was weather worn and creaky with age. The two story, widely spread building was made of sturdy, hand crafted oak wood, stained dark and crawling with long dead ivy at its base. There had been beautiful gardens here once, wonderful, lush green grass, now long dead with neglect. It looked as though the former owners had even ripped out some of the deceased rosebushes, in either an effort to clean up the rubbish or in a less honorable fit of rage, both seemed possible. The front door had no screen but the bolts were there, hinting that once upon a time time there had been one.
The windows were all intact but dusty, large french windows on either side of the door at ground level stood out from the house, providing a place where one could sit and enjoy the scenery, what little there was to enjoy. The second story added a looming, severe presence to the Plantation with a single windowed tower set as an afterthought on the left-hand side of the roof. It clung tenaciously to the siding, as though unstable. The last feature would be the balconies, one around front and the other directly opposite for the owner to stargaze or enjoy a nice sunny day undisturbed by ground-level visitors. It was impressive in it's might.

Making their way through the dead landscape, three baddie males, a buck and one Devlyn hurried along. Apparently the area spooked them greatly, causing their pace to become hurried and direct. The final cross from ground to porch appeared not to have come soon enough. Two of the baddies made the others in the group wait while they knocked on the door, listening as the crying abruptly stopped and the sound of pawsteps echoed towards them after what felt to be an eternity of nothing. The deadbolts on the inside of the door slid open, one after another until all five had been swept aside and the door opened on silent hinges. The Black Cat's silver eye glistened intimidatingly from inside, his face a mask of nothingness and his disposition nightmarish. The two baddies seemed to converse with him momentarily before he would allow them inside, everyone was on edge with the exception of their host who remained calm.
Raine had hurried as fast as she could and huddled in a corner of the room, the fur under her eyes dark and tear streaked. It was a bad day. TBC was mad and she didn't understand why. He was more mad than usual. She reached out a little paw and latched onto a pillow, pulling it close to her body and burying her face in it for comfort. Peeking up every now and again to make sure she wasn't noticed or called.
The Black Cat shut the door fluidly behind the lot, watching as the buck and singled out baddie made their way to the couch and leaned against it, observing but staying out of the limelight. The two leaders of the rag-tag bunch pulled the Devlyn forward roughly and stood her in the center of the room before backing off, leaving her alone. She looked defiant and smug, yet a twinge of fear could not completely be voided from her bright gaze. The Black Cat wasted no time. SMACK! The connection of paw against flesh as he struck her, hard, across the face resounded. His face remained unchanged, his tone easy and controlled. "I told you. I warned you and you disobeyed. What did you think would happen? That everything would end up just fine so long as you kept your head down?" His eyes narrowed, the Devlyn holding her paw to her flushed and stinging cheek, a look of utter shock upon her face. Apparently, she hadn't thought her actions through as well as she should have. "This is the last time you cross me." He turned his back on her, the two baddies melting from the shadows and latching onto her arms firmly as she pleaded for another chance, pleaded for forgiveness. Yet he was deaf to her cries and mercy was out of the question.
In the background Raine cried softly into her pillow.
