"Where...
Where did I go wrong..."

User Image

Lyon raised his head as a gentle wind swept across the area, the soft rustling of the sakura leaves the only sound on the harmonious plain. It was moments such as these that the Necromancer with a dark past could feel free--a brief respite from the sin that weighed so heavily on him. Too heavily. Not a day passed that he didn't feel like he would break under the weight of his own misdeeds. His gentle heart was not made to sin, and yet sin he had--too much. Too much...
"Where..." He muttered, leaning his head against the tree's sturdy trunk. "Where did I go wrong..." His words echoed those he spoke out when Ephraim had plunged his Sacred spear through Lyon's chest and ended his life. And in that moment, he didn't feel any hatred towards his childhood friend. He had done what was right--he had done what Lyon had expected.
He had begun with good intentions... he truly had. And yet in the end, he was left with nothing except grief, regret, and guilt. He wanted to save his people. All their hopes, all their dreams, and their futures... they all rested upon his shoulders. And his shoulders were far too weak to carry such a burden.
He let out a sigh as he turned, sliding down the tree and leaning his back against it as he sat there, the gentle breeze continuing the grace the picturesque landscape before him. It was a beautiful, serene setting...
One wasted on a wretch like himself.

Seraphim Lylatt

User Image

"Huff... huff..." A young demigod let out, as the end of the sword he held with both his hands laid against the ground below.
"I think we should take a break."
"No!" Seraphim let out a strained grunt as he lifted his sword up, still taking deep breaths. "Need to get stronger..." A snap from the one he faced sent a tiny jolt of lightning, which smacked his blade and sent it flying out of his hands. "Ughh..." Seraphim put his hands on his knees as he continued to take deep breaths, clearly very exhausted. "Alright, I... guess... if you're that tired we can... take a break..."
"Heh. How considerate." Balder crossed his arms as Seraphim collapsed backwards into a seated position in the lush grass below. "You've never had such a strong drive to get stronger before. You used to hate the idea of fighting."
"Still do..." Seraphim said inbetween breaths. "I'd rather... solve my problems with words... I don't like... hurting anyone..."
"Well, your father's a god, and your mother... uh... has some fighting ability. Kinda. Sometimes? And you also have a lot of very capable siblings." Not the least of which was him, of course. "You don't have to fight at all. Leave the hurting people to us."
Seraphim shook his head, finally seeming to regain his breath somewhat; "No, I... can't just do nothing. Not anymore. I... When The Beast took control of you, I felt so helpless. So powerless. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't even help battle him. Maybe if I had been stronger, I could've helped you. And... Grandpa Roy died because I was weak." He had been revived when the Beast was defeated by the Beast himself, of course, but that sight of his grandfather trying to stay tough and shooing Seraphim away like he had... when he was on the verge of death... it kept playing in his mind. He couldn't stop thinking about it. "I doubt I'll ever be as strong as you or Arty, but... I can't just stand by and hope for the best. Not anymore. I'm not the same kid I used to be." Balder nodded, seeming to understand and respect his motivation.
"Well if that's how you feel, I can keep training you."
"Sorry for the bother. I'm sure you have better things you could be doing." Seraphim said politely.
"Heh, what could be more important than helping out my adorable little bro? Besides, things are tense between the kingdoms right now, but nothing's escalated yet. And I can't search the Forest Kingdom without a unanimous decision from the entire council, and that's about as likely as the sun turning into ice cream." Few things were ever unanimously decided upon by the council of High Serenitians, which is why they so rarely involved themselves in the affairs of Common Serenitians. "How've you been feeling? Any... issues?"
"..." Seraphim knew what he was referring to immediately. "I... can still feel the darkness. It's like... it's like it's sleeping there, just under my skin. It's nothing I can't handle, but when I become distressed, I sometimes get so angry I sort of black out..." He continues to act, but after the fact he can't recall his actions. "He's still here, in a way. I don't... know if I'll ever lose that part of me. The emptiness and hatred that manifested itself after I killed Malak." He closed his eyes, lowering his head. "Seraph... If not for you, he and I would still be split." After he killed Malak, acting in the moment, his consciousness had been split in two--the self-hatred and emptiness he felt manifesting itself as Seraph, and the love he still had becoming a faint wisp of light. Balder had worked tirelessly to recombine these two--to bring Seraphim back--and he had succeeded, clearly. But the remnant of Seraph did not just vanish. It still existed within Seraphim, a darkness that slumbered, a separate consciousness within Seraphim. As long as the two could not become one, Seraphim would never be completely restored, and he would still suffer from it at times. And the likelihood of their complete refusion was low to say the least. "I have to get stronger and overcome this darkness. If I can find a way to dispel it completely..."
"Hmm, I wonder..." Balder had pondered his unique situation for a while. This was a situation that could not be simply solved away, even by Nero--Nero could force the two parts together again, but the ramifications could break Seraphim's mind and cause a complete mental shutdown from which he could never recover. Nero had explained such before when Balder and Seraphim asked. And ejecting the darkness out unnaturally would send Seraphim into shock and likely cause heart failure. And even if it didn't, it could cripple Seraphim for the rest of his very, very long lifespan. It was a problem with no easy solution, but... "I'll help you through this no matter what, Seraphim. You can count on that. And I'm sure if Arty and the others were here, they'd say the same."
Seraphim showed his oldest brother a warm smile. "Thank you, big bro. I'm sorry to be such a burden. I hope to repay your kindness one day, somehow."
"It's no burden, but if you really want to help me out, maybe you should be the one to finally break it to our dear mother that she's completely useless in battle."
"B-but, mother is so cool when she fights!"
"I think you need to reevaluate your definition of cool..." Balder grinned, obviously just messing around at the expense of his poor bird-mother.

She could feel the wind against her body, and the sound of it through a tree, but what really was catching her attention was the distinct sound of a voice calling out to her, in the momentarily deep sleep she was in, everything seemed a blur. Her mind wasn't quite yet awake to distinguish what was actually happening, or where she was, for that matter.
"Siiissster! Sister! Wake up!." Nami grabbed her arm, shaking it! "C-a-t-a-r-i-n-a! Waaake uuuuuuup!! " It seemed like she was never going to wake up at this point! .....until a tiny sakura pedal fell onto her face, and she immediately shot up! "Nami..?? ...Wait...what?.." She was still in quite the daze, transporting through time could be a hectic thing for some. "...Oh...oh! We made it.." "Gosh, you sleep just like her.." Nami sounded a little irritated, clearly! But it wouldn't last long, as her bright smile quickly returned. "Mmhmm! And best of all, we arrived at the safest place ever! " Well, it seemed like it. But it was kind of out in the middle of no where also, they would have a long walk before they found something safe to really stay at. "Unkie Nero-tree!" She said with a big, goofy grin. "Shh! Don't say stuff like that! We have to be extra careful. Remember, we came knowing mother hasn't found father yet. We shouldn't be here, and we cannot let anyone know who we are, especially our parents. I meant it when I said we have to avoid them..you understand, don't you?." Nami's expression fell, but she soon came to nod softly. "This is the unfortunate part of coming here so early..We have to do what is right, even if it isn't exactly how we want it to go.."
They would remain here for a short time longer, to catch a little rest time before starting on their journey to find a suitable location that they might be able to stay at.....

Kaden

User Image

Everyone's favorite pastime upon visiting this tree was to sit beneath it against the trunk, and it seemed the wolf prince of the Frozen Kingdom was no different. There seemed to be much on his mind, not the least of which was likely his dear friend's relationship with a woman he considered to be toxic. Perhaps it was unfair to judge Alisa so harshly, but Kaden couldn't exactly help that. He let out a short sigh--if not for them all being brought to this stupid world, they may have never even met. He bent the coolness in the air, materializing a small ball of ice, which he chucked forward like tossing a stone, and every time it nearly hit the ground, ice would form under it to bounce it up and forward slightly, as though it were a rock skipping across the water. That provided mild amusement for the moment, though it just brought his thoughts back home. "What are we even doing here..." he muttered to himself. Ever since their worlds intersected, it had been nothing but trouble constantly. Life was so much simpler before.
His thoughts were mildly interrupted as a guest approached. Kaden glanced over to the grey wolf, which wasn't at all wary towards him--quite the opposite behavior that wolves tended to display towards humans. The wolf leaned towards him, sniffing his arm for a moment--as if confirming something--before leaning back, and very soon after laying down and placing its head on his leg, falling to sleep soon after. It seemed rather tired. Long hunt today, Kaden assumed.
Kaden didn't smell bad to humans or anything of the such, but animals could tell from his smell the wolf that hid beneath this human skin. For many animals, this instilled fear. For wolves, naturally, it inspired comradery, and comfort. Which form was Kaden, really? The short answer was that both were. And so was his third form, when his wolf blood ran hotter and quicker than he could fully control. It was even more difficult to keep contained under the moonlight. The fuller the moon, the "worse" it became.
Still, no need to dwell on that right now. This wolf had the right idea, Kaden decided, and leaned back to rest his eyes. He figured this must have been a lone wolf, but after he had dozed off into a peaceful sleep, that theory would prove wrong, as the rest of its pack joined the two. After confirmatory sniffs, they'd all accept Kaden as the first did, and they'd all join in the rest. Some laid with their heads propped on his legs, some others curled up against his side, others simply slept right next to him. The wolves--Kaden included--were all going to have a nice rest in each other's company. And one thing was for sure: to any typical bystander, this scene would be really weird.

With the help of a friendly, sweet golden Chocobo, Athena decided to venture out, away from the citys and towns. Everyone was almost always busy, and she didn't seem to have the best of relationships with them, an almost impossible thing to believe, given how kind and gentle Athena was, still, she didn't find much connection, and out here in nature, she felt what she lacked from the humans and Serenitians. Her connection with nature was very strong, she could befriend the most vicious of animals just by looking at them! So there she was, her Chocobo striding on through the plains of Gaia, with no real destination in mind but to explore and enjoy the scenery. "Just a little further, and we can set up camp! " She said to her feathery friend, who gave her a little 'Wark' in response. "The next forest we come by, will be our stop for the coming night." Would the Chocobo understand to look for a forest? Probably, with Athena being the one talking to it!

.....But there would be no forest, rather, a massive beautifully flowing Sakura tree, it's pedals flowing in the wind like a rain of pink 'snow'. A beautiful sight it was, and as they got closer to it, Athena would hurriedly hop off the chocobo, rushing into play in the rain of sakura pedals, it was an endless amount, they just seemed to keep falling and never having any end! How mysterious, she didn't seem to notice it's softly glowing aura as she became so entranced in the beauty of it all..she was practically dancing in the falling pink pedals, giggling as they too would cover the golden Chocobo, who seemed very confused at what was falling into it's feathers! "It's so beautiful..! "

If Athena had any survival instincts, she may feel the uncomfortable feeling of being watched. This feeling may have caused her to looked over her shoulder one moment and see nothing, yet in the very next moment, she'd feel an oppressive presence behind her. A single moment separated those two looks she may have given, yet now there stood a hooded woman with eyes intently locked onto her--the eyes of a killer, and a blade held back-handed in her hand. She began to slowly walk towards her, and if Athena turned to run, she'd see the very same woman on the other side of her now, also approaching her. No matter which way she turned to try to run, she'd find this woman in every direction--never more than one in her line of sight, yet still every single direction she turned to try to flee.
She'd feel herself grabbed by the throat shortly thereafter, and her back pushed against the tree she had been admiring. "Helpless Forest princess. Should you be alone?" Her cold voice came at last as her listless gaze continued to stare into her. She raised her blade, stabbing it forward alarmingly quickly--right next to her skull, into the tree beside her. After a moment, her grip on her neck loosened a bit. "...You're cute." She said, though the words sounded bizarre with her dead tone. Still, her words would be accentuated by Athena suddenly feeling her knee pressing up inbetween her legs. ...That was likely surprising. "I came to kill you when I felt you alone." She reached up her now free hand, beginning to massage her ear, all the while continuing to stare at her with that listless gaze. "But... seeing you now, helpless like this, and so... cute... I suppose I can understand to some extent why the rest of my kind are so keen to enslave yours. Perhaps Krul is less of a fool than I thought." She had never understood the others' obsession with enslaving Serenitians. Yet this one certainly gave her pause... Were all the royals this alluring? She felt somewhat doubtful. "...Which would you prefer, Forest princess? Enslavement or death? I find both have their merits, so I'll let you decide. It is your life after all." How generous!

It wasn't in Athena's good nature to have such a battle-ready mind, nor did she have any real survival instincts. Her attention was so set on the beauty of the mysterious Sakura tree, she didn't feel the presence of being watched. It was only when the woman was behind her, that she felt the presence of a Reaper, and that, after possibly moments after she was oblivious to her stalker, that she would turn around to see the hooded woman standing there. "...Oh.! ...H-hello.." She said softly, she couldn't quite shake off the obvious nervousness in her voice, despite always trying to welcome people and not judge them right away, there was obviously something with this woman that sent chills down her body. "I'm sorry if I disturbed you...I didn't know anyone was here..I will leave.." She could hurry to her chocobo, but somehow she doubted that would be very affective against a Reaper, especially if she was hostel. What else could she do? "...Unless you would like company....You are out here all alone..." Nervous as she was, maybe kindness would pull through? It was Athena's strongest trait, maybe not her best, but she believed in it.
But maybe kindness wasn't going to help her in this moment, as she was grabbed by the throat, and felt herself pushed back against the tree with a small gasp of surprise. "...I-I am not a child...." She responded defensively, it bothered her when everyone tended to baby her, but for that to happen even with a Reaper? It was further more irritating! Her eyes closed as if that would somehow teleport her away from this situation, stabbing her knife into the tree beside her head was already more then alarming, and she probably did wish she had teleporting abilities right now. "... We don't have to hate each --!! Ahh! " Well, her new playful kill-happy Reaper friend really caught her surprise with that even more playful knee that pressed up between her legs. For one such as the untouched, innocent princess, that feeling came rather...strongly, but then she had to really drive her to new experiences when she began to message her ear. How did she even know of that weakness of the Forest Serenitians?! She gasped again, though following was the faintest sound of a moan as the Reaper continued to attack her weakness with just that simple touch to her pointy ears. Her mind was no longer focused on that kindness she tried to hard to spread, but rather the new feelings she was experiencing.. "..P-please...stop.." She couldn't give into these feelings, she would not be enslaved by a Reaper! The woman might feel a slight difference in her weight, as she might feel a little heavier. This was due to her body giving out to the cursed weakness the longer she continued to massage her ear. This only made the pressure of the Reapers knee against her even rougher as she could barely hold her own self up. "N-none! ..You don't have to...we...we can be friends.! " She managed to get out through growingly heavy breaths.

Estella

User Image

The somewhat ironically-named Reaper's attention was so dead set upon this cute Serenitian that she didn't notice another presence approaching, until she'd feel an arm wrapped around her neck. Lilac's listless eye moved in response, though she didn't seem to be startled in any grand way. Turning, the new arrival on the scene would hurl the Reaper away, who would upon nearing the ground deftly spring off both her hands to land upon her feet, turning her still listless gaze to the two. "Athena." Estella said seriously, positioning herself where she belonged--standing protectively in front of the young Forest princess.
"You." Lilac said, unimpressed. "Still alive." She raised her hand, and the blade that was lodged into the tree ripped out of it and shot to her hand.
"She's some sort of demonic Reaper assassin. I don't know where her allegiance lies, but I know she's dangerous. I've clashed with her before. Be careful, and stay behind me."
"I don't know why you expect this fight to go any different than our last." Lilac said emotionlessly. "You won't survive a second time." She raised her hand, pointing a finger at Athena. "The Forest princess hasn't given me an answer, so I don't want her hurt yet. Move away from her before we begin our pointless battle."
"Yeah, I'll just do that." As if she was going to just move away from the one she was sworn--and determined--to protect. She obviously wasn't going to take this woman at her word, so she raised her blade, her eyes narrowing as she watched for an opening, or for Lilac to go on the offensive.

Athena's physical strength was terrible, but if it was anything she had going for her, it was the strength of her mind, and that clearly showed well enough as she didn't instantly fall right for this Reaper the moment she touched her ear, any other Forest Serenitian would probably already given into the temptation and lust. Her body on the other hand, wasn't handling so well, as it was so obvious. She could barely stand as the weakness to her entire body took place. From the Reapers knee in a area it shouldn't be, to her massaging her sensitive ear, it was pretty intense stuff to fight off! Who knew what would have happened if the crimson haired woman didn't just grab the Reaper off of her, and send her hurling away....
Crimson haired, well armored young woman....
Athena's swirly little mind could just barely focus, but that red hair was certainly enough to snap her mind back into place. Her body would have to catch up, as those feelings that drove it a little mad would start to fade away. Still, she found herself practically sitting on the ground, as when the Reaper was pulled away, her weak body didn't just stay standing, and she slid down to a seated position, her face flushed a deep red. As seconds passed, realization also began to hit her, and that crimson haired woman there, now standing so protectively in front of her, would have the forest princess staring up at her with shocked eyes. What a terrible way for Estella to to see her, after so, soo long. She could hardly be embarrassed though, because she was so happy to see her there anything of that sort kind of faded away. "Estella! " It wasn't just her weak knees keeping her from jumping up to hug her, but the situation, even she knew not to be that ridiculous in the presence of someone who was so dead set on killing them. "...O-okay..there is no hope for her, then..? " Kindness towards the killer Reaper probably was a big no, nothing of her way would sway her to change her evil ways, and if Estella believed that, she would take her word for it too. Finally, at what Lilac said, Athena looked at her as she finally began to stand on those shaky legs. "...I did answer.. I said no! None! "

Lilac tilted her head slightly, her listless gaze settling upon the cute princess once again. "That's not an answer. I haven't spoken to many Serenitians. I wasn't aware they had a difficulty grasping basic questions."
"She's not having trouble grasping it, you idiot."
"...Is that so? I'm confused, then." She responded emotionlessly, shaking her head in minor confusion. "Why not just answer the question in that case?"
"Ugh." How dense was this Reaper? "It doesn't matter--any explanation would be a waste because you're about to be dead, demon-Reaper!" She shouted passionately, drawing her blade with a flourish and plunging her blade directly into the Reaper's torso.
"..." Yet as the blade attempted to pierce her chest, it would be stopped at the skin, scratching down her chest slightly and leaving a surface-level scratch mark, but not actually breaking the skin. It was as if one tried to cut through steel with a regular knife. Estella actually did more damage to her own arms than she did to her foe. "...I'm not a demon." Lilac responded emotionlessly, as though her foe hadn't done a thing to her. Estella hopped backwards, grunting as she held her blade up and narrowed her eyes. "One of my mothers is a Reaper, the other is a Serenitian goddess. I haven't met the latter."
"I didn't ask for your damn life's story--you're going to die here." Rearing her blade back, she slashed horizontally, sending out a plume of intensely hot fire which engulfed her foe. And after the fire died down, her foe was still standing there, with that same listless gaze, her clothes affected more than she was. "...Rrgh." She was starting to feel a little embarrassed, having Athena see these failures. She was usually such a competent warrior. "Just die!" She leaped forward, swinging her blade towards her foe's neck, intending to decapitate her. And that ended about as well as one might expect.
Her listless gaze blinked, not out of confusion, just... a natural response as she stood there mostly motionless, the blade failing to break the skin of her neck. Estella would finally get a reaction from her as she'd feel her chest punched hard enough to force her stumbling backwards, her back quickly finding its way to the tree. Her foe was upon her quickly, her hand on her throat as she pushed her back against the tree to pin her into place. Lilac paused a moment, as if thinking. Then, suddenly, Estella would feel something Athena had experienced moments before--a knee pushing up between her legs. Estella inhaled sharply at the sudden sensation, trying to manage words of protest, until the Reaper began to rub her apparent victory in a little, so to speak. Estella clenched her teeth, though she involuntarily dropped her blade, gasping and letting out a moan much louder than she wanted to as her body went limp in the Reaper's hold. "...Hmm. Never tried this tactic before. Usually just go for the kill quickly. Surprisingly effective. Why isn't it a more commonly used tactic?" After Athena's reaction, Lilac apparently grew curious how well it would work against someone much more openly hostile. It seemed it was still alarmingly effective...

".....Stay away from her! " Not the words she was used to saying, but hey, there was a time for everything. It seemed this Reaper wasn't some ordinary foe, to see Estella struggling so much against her, not that she thought anything bad of her, at some point she knew there would be a enemy that would put up a fight. From behind Lilac, Athena raised her now glowing bow, a soft golden aura around it's form as she raised her other hand into position behind it, a pure golden holy light arrow forming in it that she would no later send it straight for the Reapers back. It was a holy arrow, of course if she tried to disappear and hope to let the arrow strike Estella and hurt her, she would think wrong, as it would only heal her, but cause great pain to Lilac if it actually did hit her..

Lilac's head tilted slightly at Estella's reaction, as she tried desperately to resist the temptations being forced upon her body. She pushed herself further against her would-be adversary, though Athena's yelling caused her to turn towards her. She stepped back, causing Estella to let out a gasp and fall forward to her knees which felt particularly weak right now. As Athena let loose her arrow, she might be alarmed when Lilac very casually swung her arm, quite literally slapping the arrow out of the air. She took a step towards Athena, reaching out and grabbing her, moving behind her and forcefully planting her down on her knees. She'd continue to overpower her, forcing her head down against the ground while she was still on her knees and her hips remained raised due to that, and Athena would be able to feel her front pressing against her back. She'd be a little surprised by everything she was feeling, if it could register to her, all things considered. She'd feel herself gripped by the hair, her head turned towards Lilac's lowering face, pulling her into a surprisingly gentle, soft kiss. "I've never wanted to join with someone before, but you..." She pushed herself against Athena, rubbing against her a bit, and though they were still clothed, well... it would still be quite the stirring of feelings. "You're special. Athena. Cute name. Cute you." With this position, there was no guesswork needed on what she desired, or on who was going to be in charge...
