Everyone's Grudge is in FFXI as well. But I avoid tonberries at all costs also im not at the level where I think I could fight them with a party. There have been screenshots of the attack doing about 30-50k damage. And the most HP you can get in the game is around 1400-1500 or something. It could be raised higher with other equipment but then your character will probably be lacking in attack. Also I heard they have an attack called throat stab when honestly I dont want to fight anything with an attack called that.

In april in the expansion they added this event call besieged where monsters wander into the city and capture shopkeepers and stuff and try to steal this item that gives you more exp if your in there area. One day I was playing and it says something where my character took 5000 damage and I had a max of lets say 700. There were bodies everywhere. Found out later by shouting the area over the damage that monsters will self destruct on you.

Absolute virtue a nortorius monster in the game is probably the hardest enemy in FFXI. It summons wyverns that wander out and self destruct near people. Has access to I think every spell. Has access to every 2 hour ability. There is only one 2 hour ability per job class for instance Black mage ability allows all magic to be casted for 30 seconds to cost 0 MP. It has high regen and its very resistant to everything Black mages are most effective just casting magic. It takes I believe at the minimum 18 people to kill it. And even then its only been killed maybe 4-5 times in total on all servers. It also gets the White mage 2 hour which restores the HP back to full on everyone in the area and to kill Absolute Virtue you need to do about 40,000-50,000 HP. Each spell casted does maybe 200 so its just hours of fun ><

FFXII I heard there is a boss that also has 50 million HP. And the max damage you can do is 9999. Supposedly taking 3 hours to kill. Its entirely optional though.

Ouch, every spell? That's insane. Even in World of Warcraft (My MMO of choice), the hardest boss currently in the game only takes about fifteen minutes to defeat. 40k HP doesn't seem like much, but when you have all of the major cooldown abilities, spells, and adds that do a lot of damage, you become one tough cookie to break.

Still, 50 million HP is a serious assload, and I would think that the reward from killing it would be immensely powerful. Kinda remindes me of a boss in FFX, called Nemesis. It boasted a huge 10 million HP stat, along with maxed Magic attack, Power, and 250 Speed (Max is 255). He's quite difficult, near impossible unless you had one of those 220+ hour save files with everyone having every skill unlocked and every node filled. Then Quick Hit + Aeons meant an easy battle with Nemesis.

I haven't really fought an extremely hard 'super boss' in years, dating back to Zeromus in FF4, or 2, if you're using the 'States version. He took me over a couple weeks to actually kill, even after looking at a FAQ.

Wow, no RPG has ever taken me very long to beat, but I will admit, this one quest in WoW is impossible to beat without strategy, Quint, I'm sure you know of the mission to kill the mother dragon, preferably without hatching the baby dragons?

I assume you're talking about URBS? If that's the case, then no, there's no real way to not aggro any whelps, so just deal. Try however to keep from being hit into them, and keep from fearing. Warrior should do what he does, and every other class should follow their classes, and everything should be fine. 3nodding

Here is absolute virtue's abilities. It doesnt have all spells like I thought.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Absolute_Virtue

Hardest boss I probably fought in a RPG was playing Dragon Quest VIII. There is an area where you fight these different elemental dragons. Once you beat them all you can test your strength by fighting them all in a row and there are 7. All there HP is halved and you dont get your health back after killing one.

Im going to buy Disgaea 2 when it comes out I need a new video game.

Oh and I replayed FF8 cause my memory card crashed near the end of the game save I had so I started over. Found out you can make your characters insanely strong just by junctioning. Beat the game with all 42,43,44 oh and beat omega or ultimate weapon but I was using hero's which give you invincibility for about 20-30 seconds and I had 100 >< Ill try without it next time. Except for the fact omega weapon attacks fast. Has one attack that does 9999 damage regardless. Level 5 death ( The max level you can have is 100 and he casts it on his first turn.) Another attack that does 9998 damage to all characters. And the last one does 3000-4000 a hit but hits randomly. And he has 1 million HP.

Another note monsters level up with you in this game which I didnt know so I tried not to level up as much as possible.

eek I can see why it's called Absolute Virtue. But those items that you can get from it are really awesome, really making it worth it to kill him. If you can.

I thought Disgaea 2 was already out, in fact here it is..Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories It's looks to be a great game, better than the first (Which I absolutely adored), with new options, places, and a new way the Assembly is done. Not to mention the ability to turn off battle animations! I would have loved that in Disgaea, when I was using Winged Slayer ad infinum to kill a 3x3 square of enemies. It was fun for a while, but as Laharl got to level 500, it became a little boring.

I never did play FF8, mainly because when it came out, I was occupied with Legend of Mana, an RPG that had a Vs. mode! Add that with the fact that you can make your own weapons and armor, and that meant that I spent many an hour making new fist weapons to use on my friends' skulls. xd

Though I did hear about Omega, and how difficult he was. Any super-boss that gives an item that does nothing but prove you've beaten said boss is a hard one in my book.

Wasn't Dragon Quest VIII on the PS/2? If so, I might get that one. I haven't played a DQ since the NES...

I made a mistake about the regen thing I was thinking of this monster. ^^;

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Jailer_of_Love

And I want this for my black mage but I dont even have the +5 MAB ring >< http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Novio_Earring

Dragon Quest VIII is for the PS2. And I havent played another DQ game before. My friend had it and it looked interested and hard so im like oh a game with a challenege I guess ill buy it. Also bought it cause someone passed away in my family and I was looking for anything to distract myself. The game is long takes maybe 40-50 hours to beat? My data is maybe on 70?

Disgaea I can find but ive beaten. Disgaea 2 seems to come out next week so ill probably buy it.

Yea, I looked through Jailer's profile when I learned that Absolute can spawn after killing him. Nice ring from him, even though +5 doesn't seem like that much to me, being used to crits from Mages for about 4k and all. Usually to me and my non-resistance having warrior. xd

Gotta get Dragon Quest then. I'll probably pick it up after Disgaea 2, which is next week. (I didn't look at the release date, I just assumed since someone had a full FAQ out for the game, that it was out already.. sweatdrop )

And Rioushu, could you also be talking about Onyxia? Because then, it's a different story, and the strat behind her is a bit more complicated. I can probably link you to a strat somewhere, as people have downed her with 10 druids, and a solid 6 person raid.

Magic attack bonus items are rare and add I think a larger percentage of damage than just regular int rings. Black mages are used alot on bosses due to high damage and the spells dont miss but they can be resisted to a point where its a waste to cast. Sometimes people make manaburn parties where you take 5 BLM and 1 bard that pulls a monster and puts it to sleep while the mages cast there strongest spells. Due to the expansion though its better to have wandering melee parties.

And dragonquest VIII has a very old school feel to it. But its also addictive.

Here is the list of 18 jobs in FFXI.

Sorry I got so off topic this should be in the spam section probably.

And I had some onyxia ytmnds but they dont work anymore well the one I thought was funny. This is an animation though but youve probably seen it.

18 Jobs, most of them able to sub some other class, that's a lot of different combinations! WoW only has 7 classes, and they can't be subbed.

Yea, the Onyxia guy is hilarious. "That's a ******** 50 DKP* minus!"

(*DKP, or Dragon Killing Points aren't points you get from killing dragons, as the name would imply. It's really a system of scoring given out to a raid while going through a raid instance. These scores are spent on items that are dropped inside the instances, and are added and subtracted as needed.)

I love the old school feel, mainly because I'm an old school gamer. I loved FF9 for that reason; it was a new game, but it took a few pages from the original Final Fantasy, in battle, and in story.

Items in FFXI have a lotting system. Where you see a list of items dropped from the enemy and they are randomly given out. Or you can lot on them which gives a number randomly betwen 1-999. The higher the number on the scale the more likely the chance you will get it. If everyone has lotted and you have the highest number you take the item.

I also like old school games too. I wish there were more 2D games but its seems people dont like to do that and its probably easier to make a 3D model and animate the movement then to create a sprite from scratch.

A few weeks ago or maybe a month they added an update to all jobs in FFXI. At 75 you can still level up for every 10,000 exp you get you can level up a stat or unlock new abilities. BLM gets level 2 Ancient magic like Flare. I wish they added Ultima crying . THF gets an ability that always hits 3 times and with weapon skills thats a lot of damage. Also daggers got upgraded above 61-68. DRK gets the ability Absorb TP so they can kinda keep up with SAM now which is pissing off the SAMs.

Puppetmaster is now considered the worst job by the FFXI community and needs to be fixed. Dragoon looks better in comparison. They are a strong class up to 30-40 but after that it starts to get worse.

Corsair the Ranger/Bard hybrid I really enjoy but after playing BLM and having to buy bullets and food all the time has made me poor. All items that I sell for money are on the decline so I havent been playing. They gain a roll to increase critical hits (( boost if THF in pt)) Increase double attack.(( Boost if WAR in pt)) melee seem to love that but its dependent on what I roll.

Blue mage. It can solo at 75 with the help of NIN. They also can self skillchain every 3 minutes. (( A skillchain is when one person does a weapon skill and another person in the party does a weapon skill after. Its specific since all combinations dont work and each combination does a magic burst which does like a special magic attack affect. During this time a mage can cast a spell which does more damage also depending on what element and what magic burst occured. I dont know if that makes a lot of sense >< ))
(( This video should help http://www.stfcc.org/ffxi/videos/purepwnage.wmv ))

Well anyway they do these to abilities I cant remember the names cause my Blue mage is level 5. First ability they do a WS. Then with the 2nd one they do a physical attack Blue mage ability. Which does a Skillchain then they can MB ontop of it. In total they have 94 abilities but you can only set so many and each on you set takes up a certain amount of points and to change it there is a 1 minute cooldown.

And on the topic of 2D (( Sorry im ranting cause Im bored at home lol))
This is my favorite boss battle and one of my favorite genesis games. Too bad I dont own it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiAXWYzSJUs

Has anyone else noticed that all these RPGs are being dicussed in the Plot/Member profile thread..? lol

As for what happened to the RPing in the guild... well, with Onne gone for now, Morri offline for the past few days, and Quint's RP wrapping up, there's been an understandalbe lull of sorts. I blame it on the fact everyone is probably busy going to/getting ready for school again, as well.
