"Wait, why? What's going on?" Natsumi asked as she stood up. Then she thought for a second and asked, "Do you know what happened to Travis?"

Kate nodded, but did not come closer to Travis. Actually, instead of thirst, a very different reaction was flowing through her body. It was repulsion. A deep, biased repulsion against Travis that made it take all of Kate's strength not to turn and run out of the room. It was the smell. The smell, it aggravated her entirely.
You see, when a human is bitten, and instead of turning completely into a Mythling, they develop two or more personalities. Because they are so repulsed with the idea (not of themselves, but of the others like them), that their mind does all it can to separate the two beings--the body of the mythling, and the mind of the human.
Kate is just as strong, fast, and skilled as Sheo is. They are one and the same. However, it was Kate's mind which prevented her from having the same abilities, and prevented the thirst as well. It was a subconscious thing, something the mind did automatically to protect Kate from such disgust and repulsion of herself that she would have otherwise died. Not literally, but every ounce of soul, morality and compassion, would have deteriorated out of Kate's body, had she not been able to channel all Mythling abilities to an alter ego, Sheo.
Sheo knew all of this, although Kate did not. Or, she wouldn't know consciously. It was all subconscious. But Kate had done considerable research on Mythlings, all the same, and her knowledge was more complete than any other human.
And Kate was human. She felt no thirst, no desire to hunt. Because she was human. Because she rejected the truth and reality of her own nature so violently, so vehemently, that she put herself in pain just to not realize all this incomparable truth.
"Please, nothing is immediately wrong. Just step away from the m- from Travis...."

Natsumi looked over at Travis for a bit, then walked over to Kate. "Do you know what a mythling is exactly?" she asked Kate.

Travis would be able to hear the conversation--the breathing--of everyone in this apartment building, unless he had somehow gone through the same transformation as Kate, developing an alternate personality unlike his current one.
Kate whispered anyway. "A vampire, a werewolf, a demon, a devil, who knows...? They're immortal creatures, unaffected by aging, unaffected by the needs of normal beings," Kate told her, eyes still refusing to stray to Travis. "...He's the same as me."

Kate was suddenly struggling, wide-eyed, against some invisible force against her. The veins on her forehead and neck bulged, throbbing, and she convulsed, dropping to her knees, attempting to prevent something that was about to happen. Kate was trying to prevent herself from changing into Sheo. Which, in the presence of Travis, would be a very bad idea.

"Kn-knock me out," Kate hissed. "Sheo's coming. If she--and Travis--bad... aagh!" She shrieked, in pain now, from trying to prevent Sheo from coming.

Natsumi was confused. "Sheo's coming?" No one had explained to her that Sheo and Kate were the same person, and she thought she was talking to Sheo.

((One question before I continue: Is Alpha in the room? Sheo and Kate look exactly alike, so Natsumi might think Kate is Sheo at the moment, but she wouldn't think that this was anyone other than Sheo in that case.))

It was too late. Kate was now Sheo. The mythling stood up, straightening, before looking around coolly at all the occupants of her apartment. Then her gaze fell on Travis. Sheo said nothing (she still had every right to be angry at Travis for the shooting before), and only leaned against the refrigerator behind her, hands folded, her expression being one of general amusement, tinted with anger. There could be no determining what was going through Sheo's mind, until she chose to speak or do something. Travis might be well within his right to feel nervous and afraid, at the moment. Sheo was like a ticking time bomb. There was no telling what she would do.
