"You really think I'd risk my safety like that? Dude, just call me the overprotective bodyguard for her." Riley said with a sweatdrop before buying the two rooms.
Van smiled as he led Mala by the hand through a nice park he'd spotted earlier. They'd had their dinner and now he was just finding that perfect moonlit spot to truly end the night.

"Alek shouldn't be threatening my lover," Angel murmured after her brother had left with the two ladies. "I don't mind if you do something to me again." She winked and kissed Jez's forehead. "Now let's get little Jezzy to bed."

"Good night Jez." Riley said with a small smile as he gave Jez a kiss on the forehead once they got up to their room and got the baby all tucked in.

Jez made little noises that sounded vaguely like 'good night,' and then fell asleep. Angel made a soft, happy noise. "She's replicating speech patterns," she whispered. "Ooh, they grow up so fast." She stroked Jez's head.

Van stopped once they came to a nice little gazebo in the center of the park. "Yeah, this should be perfect..." he said before turning to Mala with a small smile. He'd been holding her hand, specifically her left hand, the entire time since they'd left the restaurant and continued to do so as he spoke. "Mala, there's something I've been meaning to ask you for a while now....I was hoping to wait until after you were immortal, but after that stint with me on my death bed, I decided I'd rather do it sooner when we're both still alive and well rather in the future when lord only knows what could happen...." Van looked a bit more nervous now as his free hand fiddled with the old ring in his pocket, his heart starting to quicken in his chest. "It's hardly anything fancy, but I know we've been a little strapped for cash, and it just didn't seem right stealing something like this...Now here I am rambling and sounding like an idiot so I'm just going to come right out and say it..." he said as he got down on one knee, pulling the troublesome ring from his pocket and gently slipping it onto Mala's ring finger. "Mala....will you marry me?" he asked looking hopefully back up at her while his heart felt like it was about to explode out of his chest, all the while maintaining his gentle hold on her hand.

Mala gazed down silently at the ring for many moments, completely shocked by what she was hearing. Her face was as rosy a red as it could be, her heart thumping just as irratically as Van's as the secconds drew on. To be perfectly honest, she never expected to be in such a situation. If anything, she had believed that she'd somehow die an early death if she didn't find a way to escape mortality and would never be able to experience something like this. Before her thoughts could become all the more frantic she murmured sheepishly, "Yes, I'll marry you."

Angel smiled and kissed Riley. "You should help me plan our wedding." She smiled her happiest smile at Riley, because she was already imagining it. "Ooh! And Van and Lala's wedding, in advance, 'cause I know they have to get married sooner or later!"

((Not posting too much since I'm hanging with the bf and family today.=) ))
A bright grin spread across his reddened cheeks as took in her answer and what were probably the best words he'd ever heard and never believed he'd actually hear. Without another word he stood back up and gently pulled his beloved into his arms and gave her a passionate kiss, one hand moving to intertwine his fingers with the hand that was now adorned with the ultimate symbol of their love, if only temporary until Van could get a nicer ring for her.

Angel giggled quietly. "Mostly the flowers. Did you know that you can breed two different kinds of flowers to get an entirely new species? Momma taught me to make all kinds of stuff. Aphrodesiacs, sedatives, cures... there's one flower that puts sex pheromones in the air. Really, really powerful pheromones."

Mala almost couldn't believe it - she was actually engaged! Never in her life had she guessed she would be where she was, getting engaged to someone like Van of all people. Had you mentioned the notion to her eight years ago, she would've scoffed at he mere thought of it. But now...here she was, sharing a passionate kiss with her love inside the moonlit gazebo that held them.

Once their lips parted, Van chuckled a bit as he moved some stray hairs from out of her face. "Of course, Angel's never going to leave us alone now, what with her many wedding fantasies. But for once...I think I'm okay with that." he said with a warm smile. "We just can't let her plan it, or who knows how over-the-top it'll bed."

Mala chuckled. "We definately shouldn't let her plan it." she said, shaking her head slightly with a stupidly happy grin stuck on her lips. She could only imagine what would happen then. "I'm almost curious as to how long it'd take for her to figure out if we didn't say anything."
