You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

He stood in the entryway of the kitchen. "Okay," he said, "what's safe?" The demon began infiltrating the various cupboards and shelves, mumbling strange things under his breath. He examined a jar of what seemed to be strawberry preserves with a look on his face that would suggest he was gutting a fish for the first time. He unscrewed the lid and poked his finger inside and swirled it around. "I once knew an alchemist that kept stuff like this in jars on the shelf in the transmutation basement..." He muttered.

((Urg don't remind me @_@ Also, take my name off there, will you? I don't like it on the internet.
And I know what you mean, Z; I could stay here all night and into the next day XD ))

Another Shrak's call, and Clem's legs buckled, "Oh Damn it all!" he swore as he lost his handle. Clem tumbled down, he was really high up... his hand hit a loose cord from his pack, however, and a flat triangular pair of canvas wings shot out... his hanglider. he suddenly was flying, albeit very fast. So fast, in fact, he practically broke the window of the smith's home when he hit it.

Aria reached out a hand to Dakon, "c'mon... We need to find Valthere..."

Dakon took the outstretched hand and hopped down. He landed on concrete ((is that right?)) with a thud, straightening and turning to look in the direction of the city.

The tall spire marked the capital, he had heard them say. Valthere... was the king of Rantuinne, was he not? Dakon had vague memories of pissing one king or another off very badly, one time some time ago. He hoped it hadn't been this particular king. It was possible, however.

Then Dakon waited to follow his companions.

In the end, Tanessa and Cedric decided that now was their chance. The border patrol had been recruited by a local Mindbreaker raiding party to attack... someone. Now the border was left relatively unguarded. It would be a good time to try and cross.

Of course, there might be the moral issues of saving fellow Magi, but that concerned Tanessa very little. Cedric was, as usual, silent about his opinions on the matter.

Raedou nodded and rushed toward Krestere to warn him about the possible upcoming attack.

"Do we have a defense, my friend?" asked Raedou, worried.

"Aye," mumbled Krestere, "Ye need a place to hide, mate?"

He looked around and nodded, chuckling to himself.

"Whoever you're assailants be, we be havin' a surprise attack for the scum!
Do ye be remembrin' me cannons, mate?"

Raedou thought for a moment, and then smiled.

"That should hold them quite well. Thank you, Krestere." he said as he ran back to Ephlas to explain what Krestere had planned.

"Krestere's lodge is armed with four bomb cannons that can easily raze entire armies to the ground... It's done so in the past, trust me."

Perrault jumped back at the disruption, cursers in hand and ready to attack.

"What kind of bird creature is this?!" he yelled, staring in horror at the wings sprouting from the groaning mass.

Farfarello absentmindedly followed Perrault to the crash site, still stirring around the preserves. "More importantly," he said, "what is this?"

Perrault gently kicked the mass, and frowned in confusion.

"I don't think that Krestere would wanna see this... What should we do with it?"

((I have permission!))
"Just put it in the closet... He can deal with it when we leave. I'll get this end." He set down the jar and lifted up 'his end', while Perrault took the other side and indiscreetly carried it to the closet. "On three, then... One, two, three!" They heaved the mass inside and with difficulty shut the door.

There was a long silence after that. Perrault stared at Farfarello, thinking of what to do next.

Finally, he broke the silence.

"So, you were wondering if those were safe?" he said, pointing at the strawberries in the jar.

Quickly approaching was the army. At the top of the peak of the farthest hill still in view, rested Bael. His two-handed sword rested on his back, too large for an ordinary belt-scabbard.

Beside him were two Ganzi... Mindbreakers, like him. They had all three ceased their mental assault for a moment, as Bael was noticing a strange change amongst the enemy force.

They were preparing something powerful... very powerful.

Slowly, Bael lowered his looking glass, studying the house with renewed interest from afar.

"Tell me, do either of you sense anything... threatening, coming from that building?" He asked his two Mindbreaker subordinates.

"Yeah," he held it out in front of Perrault, "what is this? It looks like people's bloody, pulpy remains stuffed in a jar. What a sicko."

((New character! Hooray! Telgove's posts will be colored in red.))

The caped Ganzi spoke first. He wore a darkly colored helmet adorned with four vicious horns, two on the nose and two more on the head. His deep, dark voice echoed from the inside of his helmet.

"I sense..." he said, "a mage... a powerful one."

The other Ganzian Mindbreaker was shorter than his partner, with a somewhat plain looking helmet. It had no designs or horns, but it did have a very large visor, bigger than most helm-wearers would care to have.

"He is trying his hardest to stay my attempts to control him," the shorter one mumbled, "He's a hard one to crack."

Suddenly, the shorter Mindbreaker began to groan in pain, and pretty soon he was swiftly pushed back by an unseen force.

"My hold on the mage has been broken..." he said in frustration. "My apologies, my lord."

The caped Ganzi snorted and turned to Bael.

"Lord Bael, what is your command?" he asked hopefully.

Perrault laughed.

"Those are strawberries, silly!" he said as he opened the jar, popped one into his mouth, and smiled.

"Delicious!" he said happily, "Here, try one, Far!"

He handed the jar to Farfarello.

Bael grimaced. "Send the army in. Focus on the Magus, of course, with your minds. I think, however," Bael added, "that we should move further away. We don't have to be in view to attack. Send the soldiers in."

Ephlas struggled again. He was sweating very much, now. Plus, it didn't hurt that he was tired. "Raedou," he shouted, "Faelnirv!"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 11, 2008 7:52 pm

The caped Ganzi held up two fingers at the lodge, and 16 soldiers immediately drew their blades and slowly closed in on the lodge.

The two Ganzis bowed and backed deeper into the shadows...

"Ah, yes! Right away!" said Raedou, as he rushed to Krestere and asked him where he kept his Faelnirv.

Krestere opened his cupboard, took out a small bundle of red herbs, and handed them to Raedou, who rushed back to Ephlas and handed them to him.

"What is happening?" he asked worriedly.

"Raedou!" yelled Perrault, pointing at the window. "We've got company!!"

Raedou looked out the window and saw the soldiers walking towards the lodge, swords in hand.

"Right..." he mumbled.

He put his hand on Ephlas' shoulder. "You stay here," he said, "I'll man the cannons."

And with that said, he ran upstairs and out to the roof, and sat in one of the cannons, ready to fire...

The caped Ganzi saw Raedou on the roof, and could not believe his eyes.

"By Lady Elysia's Crown!" he bellowed, "Well, well, it can't be!! It's little Raedou...!!"

He laughed at the thought of Raedou standing up to such an army.

"This'll be much easier than I thought!" he said, cackling, "Well, Raedou, you'd better prepare for a surprise visit from your older brother!!"

Farfarello stuck his hand inside the jar and pulled out a handful of strawberry glop. He tentatively sucked in a slice to see what would happen.
For a minute he was silent.
"Oh... my... jumping jehozafatz..." His eyes widened and he dipped his hand in for more, gaining speed as he went.
Farfarello, it seemed, had a sweet tooth.
