Quote: Out of curiosity, what is the movie about? Jim Carrey plays a dim-witted limo driver named Lloyd, whose life changes one day when he falls madly in love with Mary Swanson, a beautiful young woman whom he was chauffeuring to the airport. As she prepares for her flight, Lloyd notices that she has left her briefcase in the middle of the airport. He recovers it, but is unable to catch her before the flight. Since he and his best friend, Harry, have dead-end lives in their home town, they decide to drive across the country to Aspen and return Ms. Swanson's briefcase to her. Little do they know, however, that the "left" briefcase was actually a ransom drop, and that they've inadvertently pissed off the bad guys...

So it's basically...a romantic comedy?
Urgh.

Naw. The "romance" is nothing more than a plot device. The film really revolves around the duo's silly adventures.

Oh, that's not as bad, then.
(But I don't like Jim Carrey much - his style of humour lacks finesse and subtlety.)

[Shadow.Elven-mage] Oh, that's not as bad, then. (But I don't like Jim Carrey much - his style of humour lacks finesse and subtlety.) Watch The Truman Show. He was amazing in that.

Actually, I've seen it. It was a very long time ago. I don't plan to repeat the experience.

I'm not so much of a fan of Jim Carrey in his overexaggerated roles such as Ace Ventura or The Mask but he is a good actor. The Majestic was good as was Bruce Almighty where his humor wasn't overblown.

I think he's a good actor and all, I just don't particularly like his style of humour. I've seen only snippets of Bruce Almighty, and I wasn't particularly convinced that I'd want to see more (though it is, by all accounts, a fairly good movie, or so I've heard).

Ace Ventura is about a guy that is unrealistically close with animals. He's like a really goofy Sherlock Holmes that solves animal-related crimes. In the first movie, a football's team mascot (a dolphin) went missing, and in the second movie he's doing... Er, I forget, but it has something to do with a rare white bat.

Wait, dolphins? I would watch it for dolphins. They are awesome creatures.
(Now I remember - Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, right?)
