"thanks, Bijin," he said taking the Maneki Neko's. This was the first time anyone treated him like an actual person. " I just hope no one know what I really am. But I am glad a I came here. Maybe I can pick up on some Japanese phrases while we are here.
Kinnara could tell that Bijin was worried about him. He had been having nightmare each night but he could never tell who the figure was in his dream.

"Well, if they don't think you are a neko, then they will think you are an American cosplayer. So don't worry."
Bijin looked up at the trees as a gust of wind sent petals falling all around. He giggled and started dancing in a circle as the petals fell. He took two fans out of his sleeves and opened them do perform a simple fan dance. Couples near by smiled and motioned towards the two. Bijin was just happy to have a friend who accepted his differences.

Kinnara was American in a strange way. Though being thought as an American cosplayer was worse. That would mean he was just dressed for a silly reason. He shrugged it off. He then just watched Bijin dance.

Bijin was very graceful as he slowly danced. His black hair shone in the afternoon sunlight like raven's wings. His small hands held the delicate fans gently as he moved them in different positions. Even his little feet, clad in white socks and sandels, were very careful in their step. As the dance ended, a few people claped. He giggled and bowed respectively then took his seat next to Kinnara.
"I just hope we can discover my fable while we are here. All of my dreams confuse me. They never show me enough to get an idea of what I am suppose to be."
He looked into his friend's eyes, a small glimmer of concern hidden there.
"What about....your dreams, Kin-sempai?"

"well I haven't been dreaming," he said which was a lie. He rather not worry his friend all to much. He then got up and folded his arms. "Hey Bijin I picked up this tour guide map thing at the air port earlier and it talks about a cat temple called The Gotoku-ji Temple," started Kinnara," I figure we can go there to see what it all about. But it really up to you if you want to go."

"Oh sure! I know where that is too! We will have to take the bus though so let me call Okaa-san."
Bijin took his cell phone out of his sleeve and called his mother to inform her where they were going. She thought it was a wonderful idea and told him to stop along the way to get some offerings. Bijin said he would and took Kinnara's hand to lead him.
"The Gotoku-ji Temple is very pretty Kin-sempai. I think you will like it. And it will make you feel better about yourself."
They took a bus for about an hour into the suburbs of Tokyo and got off at the correct stop. Bijin stopped and bought some food offerings to the spirit of the monk's cat that protected the cemetary there, then lead his feline friend to the gates. The whole place was covered in the little cat statues like the one Bijin had bought for Kinnara. He bowed respectfully before entering.
"Well, here it is Kin-sempai. The Gotoku-ji Temple. This is where that tale I told you happened. The cat is buried here and that big statue is over her grave. It is said she protects all cats. Maybe if you pray to her she will protect you."

"Yeah I hope so," said Kinnara. He wasn't sure if this temple would drag him down or make him fell like the world actually wants him. "What kind of offering did you get for the temple? Fish? or something elese."
He he followed Bijin he could feel something strange dark and familiar watching him. Kinnara would constantly turn around just to see birds to fly away. "I think there something here. Something that doesn't want me here." He could feel shivers down his spine.

"I brought some cat shaped rice balls."
He placed them at the foot of the statue with other offerings and kneeled to pray. He pulled Kinnara down into the same position. He held both his friend's hands in his own and looked up into his eyes.
"Then ask for help, Kin-sempai. Some things you can't do on your own. Nema will listen. And I am here."
He smiled up at his friend before he turned to pray. His prayer was not for himself but for Kinnara. "Nema-sama, please watch over Kinnara-san. He is my good friend and something is trying to hurt him. Please protect him, or show me a way that I can help him." He bowed to the statue and waited for Kinnara to finish whatever he was doing.

Kinnara nodded. He then bowed down before the statue and prey.
'Please great Nema god, I know that I am not a cat from your time or from your faith but will you please guide me from this darkness in which I have been in trapped from.'
Kinnara hoped his payer would be answered. Though he could still feel something dark and ominous behind them. His tail had become very puffy.

Bijin smiled softly as Kinnara prayed, he hoped his prayers would be heard and answered. Then he thought of something. He walked over to a monk who was there and spoke to him for a bit while his friend prayed. The monk looked over at Kinnara, then smiled and nodded to Bijin. Once Kinnara was done, Bijin brought him over to the monk.
"Ne Kin-sempai. He has something for you."
The monk, an elderly fellow with a warm friendly face and smiling eyes took out a small red cloth and tied it like a loose scarf around Kinnara's neck. He also put a small light back with a coin attached to it around his neck. Then he spoke something Japanese. Bijin promptly translated.
"He says he wishes you luck in your journey and will pray for your health and happiness. The things around your neck are symbols of the cat, and he hopes they will offer protection in your times of distress. If you want to thank him, just say 'Arigato, gozaimus."

Kinnara did a proper Japanese bow and then said , " Arigato, gozaimus." Then he stood back up and smile. He wonder if this charm would protect him from what lye ahead or not. He hoped so. He could use all the luck he can get.
"So ummm where do you want to go know. It only like 1: 00 pm. The day is still young." said Kinnara with a smile.

"Well we have to take bus back to the city. Why don't we go to the local market and get something to eat. I'll be hungry by then, and you can have good Japanese food!"
Bijin smiled, he was glad his friend was feeling better. On the way to the bus stop, people would sometimes stop and bow to Kinnara with a small smile. Some even patted his head. Bijin giggled a bit.
"You are very popular Kin-sempai. People think you are a sign of good things to come."
They boarded the bus and arrived back in the city and hour later.
"So what are you hungry for, Kin-sempai?"

"Alright that sound promising." As they road the bus Kinnara could feel eye just watching him. It made him somewhat neverous and his tail and ears flared out a bit. He didn't know that looking like a cat would get him this much attention. He got off the bus with Bijin. "Umm...anything good. I like dragon rolls and catapiller sushi rolls. " he said.

The merry little boy lead Kinnara to a nice sushi shop that looked more like a family owned business. It was small and comfortable, not loud or crowded. The hostess bowed polietely to them and showed them to a table. She offered them both menus, Bijin requested one in English for Kinnara. Then he proceeded to look for anything that had fried tofu in it.
"Mmmmm, real japanese tofu. Not the Gaian stuff okaa-san buys at the store."

Kinnara read through the menu. "I am going to get a dragon roll and a tofu stir fry. If that is okay with you?" He looked at Bijin with a smile. He would feel bad if he order something really expensive. He wanted to make sure the money that Bijin's mom gave them would last a while and not run out all in one place.
