The first eps I saw were in English and I really don't think they did a half bad job with it, but I far prefer the original Japanese. Now I honestly can't go back and watch it in English because it just sounds way too weird to me ^_^;;;
...plus, all the name changes besides Jimmy and Rachel make me want to crawl in a hole and cry. rofl...

I prefer it in Japanese. I do buy the english manga, but I can't stand the name changes, like in the latest volume Ai Haibara becomes Anita Hailey, which deeply bugs me. I can admit though that I like the english voice actors, even though Conan sounds like a girl.

Solution : Conan's voice actor in japanese IS a girl not just a girl but gosho's wife X3 I was shocked lol Anita Hailey is Ai Haibara? I dont read english manga from funimation so i dont know :3 I thought conan's voice was a bit out of it but i love her voice. She's good at imitating a boy sorta

the manga is published by Viz in English...
I'm still reading it, even though they're following the dub instead of going their own way.
and.... it seems they have a penchant for changing the names of the main characters (I don't know if you noticed, but all the case-specific characters get to keep their names). I picked up volume 18 while I was at Otakon, and I read it in the airport today... when I got to Ai's introduction, I was majorly steamed - not surprised, but considerably pissed off

Oh hey, I just noticed that Haibara Ai's voice in Japanese is Megumi Hayashibara. I love her voice acting, but I never would have recognized her as Ai! I'm mostly used to her as Lime in Saber Marionette J for those of you who've seen that. You couldn't create a more opposite personality between the two characters! haha...

great_alvz whats the different between the 2 ? is it only the language ? the language is the biggest difference, since they were actually able to do a pretty accurate translation (which is unusual, usually the subtitles are noticeably more accurate) in detective conan, the biggest difference after the language is all the names they changed. now... I don't mind watching dubs as much as some people, but I am a purist when it comes to the characters' names

I love the Japanese version of DC... Don't like the English because they changed the names rather far from the original (like Heiji who became Harley and Sonoko who became Serena)... biggrin
Still, Japanese version with English subs are the greatest biggrin
