One or two weeks ago there was an article in my newspaper concerning crisis pregnancy centers as well as abortion clinics. They had POV's from two women, one said she was misled and the crisis pregnancy center tried to sway her views when she clearly wanted an abortion while the other woman was glad to have gone there.

Of course in the middle of the page was this box that had three columns... the catagory in the middle and what the abortion clinic and pregnancy center say about it.

Ex: Fetal pain
Pregnancy centers: The fetus can feel pain in all stages of the pregnancy.
Abortion clinics: The fetus cannot feel pain until at least the third trimester.

Or it was something like that. But when I read what information the pregnancy centers give out, I was shocked. The pro-lifers really can't use anything besides emotional appeal and false information, can they?

I genuinely believe that there MUST MUST MUST be pregnancy centers. To help women.

BUT

A pregnancy center should help women in an unbiased way... Not shove s**t down their throats to force them to do something they don't want to do.

I agree. Yet every time I hear something about pregnancy centers, their information is biased, inaccurate, or appeals to a person's emotions. They should give out real information since pregnancy and abortion are serious issues.

If they used sound logic and real information, their movement would fall to pieces and they know it.

No, no, they're just political agendas that should be advanced by whatever means necessary.

WHERE in St. Paul is this???

There was a Crisis center in Burnsville I drove by when I worked at the mall there. I think it said "Pregnant? Need Help? (phone number)"

What kind of help I can only imagine. I should go there as a parent and see if they want to help out a born child.

The billboards were all downtown. The pregnancy center is on White Bear Avenue, by Hazel Park Middle School and Blessed Sacrament (maybe you know the East Side as well as I do).

When I was traveling through Indiana in the back seat of my mom's Niisan, I dared to look up from the apocalyptic novel that is The Stand.

What met my eyes, my poor Liberal eyes, you ask?

"ABORTION KILLS BABIES
[insert four or five white, smiling, probably Christian infants]
CHOOSE LIFE"

I flicked it off in spite of its inablity to take insult to the one fingered saulte, and continued reading about how Project Blue was going through people faster than a blowtorch through butter. After reading about a pregnancy from on of the characters, I had to stretch my neck.

"ABSTINENCE UNTIL MARRIAGE!
[insert pictures of happy, smiling teens of (suprisingly) more than one race]
YOUR CHOICE, YOUR FUTURE!"

Once again, my eyes were scarred. I must admit the irony was hilarious, as the character had sex outside of marriage.

I saw around ten of the same Conservative bullshit before I decided to go to the happy land of heavy metal and delirium before a painful and breathless death.

*coughcough*TOOLSOFOPPRESSION*coughcough* No, pregnancy and abortion aren't tools of oppression, it's the use of it to control someone and should a belief down throat that is.

Aye, Cap'n. One should ONLY go there if you ABSOLUTELY wanna keep it... And don't expect any support whatsoever if you're considering or still in thought.

Santa Cruz, CA, has actually declared itself a "Pro-Choice" town.

The Planned Parenthood here can actually cover abortions, birth control (including IUD), and VASECTOMIES under the family PACT plan, which most low-income women and men qualify for.

Once again, I think this has something to do with the nasty racism and hate against "TEH MEXICAN BABIES!!!!!eleventyone!!!" and Latinos having tons of kid in the first place, (ie: the reasoning behind why the big white men in charge have been pretty quiet about this kind of stuff in CA), but I think that PP is doing it's best to be unbiased AND helpful.

The wait for a walk-in appointment was hell, though.

Why do these articles treat CPCs as real centers of help? They're the ones spewing false information and scaring women in keeping their pregnancy because of their own political agenda, and people are trying to treat CPCs like they're legitimate?

I agree with you completely. Seems as though all the big pro-life organizations can't do anything but throw emotional appeals and false information in your face to try to keep their dying campaign alive.

LOL'z, I've seen those exact same billboards.

My friends and I enjoy giggling at the sheer absurdity, and whenever we discuss abortion at the table that line is inevitably brought up.

And, every weekend when I drive home (if I take Highway 52) I see a sizable billboard that has two hands folded accompanied with the line "Pray to end abortion." On my way back up to the cities I see a much smaller billboard that says "We all start out small."

Tell me how it goes...
Or walk in (you're a teen, right?) with a kid and ask for help. My jaw will drop all the way to Australia if they give you more than a Bible and a business card.
I'm 21, but I think I look younger. I dress "trendy" I guess and have a lip piercing. I'm sure I'd get dirty looks.

Ok I'm not sure, but fairly certain, just based on the looks I'd get walking around Target while I was pregnant. The feeling I got was "She's pregnant and there isn't a man right next to her. Devildevildevil!"

I see similar bilboards when I drive to WI to visit my mom. Something about the heart beating 8 days after conception rolleyes

my mom used to know a woman who got pregnant when she wasn't really ready for a baby, but she went to one of those CPC type things and they shoved all kinds of propaganda down the poor lady's throat. so, becuase of that, she wound up having the baby. i guess she told my mom that story and said (to my mom) something along the lines of "you just don't seem to mind being a mom". my mom's says "that's because i CHOSE to be a mom."

stupid CPCs.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 3:35 pm

They have ESP too. According to the guest speaker on "sexual integrity" that came from a CPC, in one National Geographic movie on fetal development, the fetus apparently curled up and "shut down" when the woman reached for a cigarette.

Why does pregnancy take 9 months for a healthy fetus if according to lies and bs propaganda it is fully formed and functional at 10 weeks or less?

Next thing they're going to say is that born babies are adults at 6 years or less.

I used to travel between here and Madison a lot and I remember seeing TONS of billboards like that. I think there was even a cluster of crosses and sign telling me each one represented a bajillion babies murdered through abortion.

I saw the "america's greatest resource" one too, somewhere around Grand Ave iirc. It made me and my friend LOL. My friend is not all that empassioned about the abortion debate, but he knows tripe when he sees it.

I drove past that CPC again yesterday; their website is www.LCCE.org. Check it out, it's seriously disturbing (but at least they don't lie about being unbiased; they admit to being anti-choice). Check out the "epidemic" page.
