"No, I wish YOU would compose YOUR apology to Aileron," she hissed form somewhere inside the rose bush. "I'm not the one who almost killed him, YOU did. I don't mind assisting you in this Corvus, but if you aren't even going to PRETEND to apologize to him, then find someone else. I'm through cleaning up your messes."

At that, Corvus threw up his arms in despair. "I TRIED composing an apology to Aileron! Truly I did! And I was forced to eventually concede that perhaps the task is completely, totally, and utterly beyond my reach, but I'd rather not die because of it. You are most welcome--" punctuated with a violent shake of his hands-- "to come and use my notes, whatever good they will do you. I tried to get Em to deliver the apology but she refused because she is for some strange reason convinced that when she approaches the house they will throw tomatoes. I don't pretend to understand why."

Which was a damn lie. Emperial had said very clearly, "No, I won't go. I'm afraid they must hold me responsible and will throw tomatoes." The tomato part was a joke. The fear of culpability was very real.

Yeande's face appeared from between two blooms. "Then show me these notes and I'll compose something from them." Cynical? Perhaps... but she wanted to know that Corvus had indeed TRIED, at least before throwing this on her shoulders.

Corvus straightened. "I can't. I burned them." Which was another lie. Corvus was getting quite good at lying, if only because he was so desperate to save face. "Besides, they were crappy anyway, and he wouldn't believe any of it even if I did for some reason send him a note. I figure the Pixapet will be enough."

Violet eyes narrowed. Somehow, this was far too convenient. "What pixapet?" she asked.

"The Pixapet from the holiday sale. I had to get Rikard to buy it for me because I can't very well show my face in that shop, can I?" he pouted. His arms crossed and his shoulders drew together like a petulant child.

Sighing softly, Yeande finally conceded. "Fine," she said, offering a faint smile. "I'll go and see Aileron today. Whenever I get to talk to him, I'll let Emperial know afterward." She realised that she was probably being played yet again, however, he SEEMED sincere enough.

"NO FAIR!!!" Turning towards the door again revealed Ankou rolled into a ball near the base, shoving at the sliding door with hands and feet. Granted, he was stronger than Yeande and Shalafi... but after one disaster involving the garden outside, Yeande had taken to locking the door with a small key which Youko had given her.

Smirking at the hapless youth, Yeande pointed to the key which was dangling from a pot nearby. "Nice try, but no."

"Thank you," sighed Corvus, finally relaxing and rubbing at his temples. He looked at Ankou out of the corner of his eye. "I do halfway think we need a feien daycare center. These juveniles nowadays are really quite terrible." He still vividly recalled the marks on Emperial's arms from that little hellion Fifth.

"I think a cardboard box would do well," she agreed, narrowign her eyes at the boy. "At least Shalafi is well mannered and calm. This one, however, isn't bright enough to realise when we try to help him." It had become clear to both Yeande and Shalafi early on that Ankou was a few blooms short of a bouquet, and they were still trying to make up for that lack.

"Of course, then I remember what some of the adults are like and I begin to think what we need is not so much a daycare center as a penitentiary," joked Corvus, halfway-serious. "A home for the criminally stupid and insane. Best thing of all, we can just fill it with toys and they won't realize it's a prison."

"Wait until you meet Yanvir," Yeande muttered, brushing the potting soil off of her skin. Corvus' description fit perfectly with what she remembered of the strange ancient's abode.

"Hello, Mr. Corvus," came a soft voice from above them. Shalafi landed on the balcony a few feet from them, wings folding behind his back as he did so. "If i'm interrupting, I'll go... it was either come out here, listen to Youko snore, or listen to Ankou be confounded by a lock."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 08, 2004 5:48 am

"Oh, no, not interrupting. I suppose we were done with our business," said Corvus. He looked around for Shalafi's point of egress. "There a window or something?"

"Ankou still hasn't figured out that there's an upstairs to the apartment," Shalafi whispered softly, a wry smirk on his face. "When he finally realises it, he might find the open bedroom window."

Yeande matched his expression, chuckling faintly as she watched the Death Feien... the one that Julius was so terrified of... nearly beat himself against the door, trying to get out. "If he ever gets any smarter, we're all in trouble. For the moment, however, I think we're safe."

Shalafi moved towards them then, standing at a slight distance from each of them. "I had hoped to see you again," he said, turning to look towards Corvus. "I still haven't found out who the new summoner is... but I've heard rumours. There were a few new blooms that bonded a short time ago, and no one knew where they came from. I'm hoping to find one of them soon and speak with them to see if they remember anything."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 08, 2004 5:55 am

"Just so long as it wasn't Julius again," growled Corvus. He considered the Ancient's summoning of blooms to be infringing on his own territory, nevermind that Julius had been partly responsible for summoning Corvus. "He already caused enough trouble just summoning you, no offense intended. I don't expect the summoned blooms will have any memory of their origins. You don't remember Julius, do you?"

Frowning faintly, Shalafi shook his head. "I remember very little... voices, mostly." He should have thought of that before opening his mouth. "I apologize, I apparently didn't think this through as far as I should have. Still... someone has to know something about the new summoner. The blooms come from somewhere, and unless there's another plant elsewhere, then they'd have to come from the one that you summon blooms from as well." If he took offense to Corvus' statement, it didn't show, the boy's train of thought already off on another track.

"Shalafi, love... you don't have to worry about it right now." Yeande smiled, watching the young feien. "There's plenty of time to figure it out."

"But it bothers me that I don't know!" he protested, turning towards the darkness feien.

Shaking her head, Yeande sighed. "It's impossible for one feien to know everything, though."

"No, but that won't stop me from getting as close to 'everything' as I can."
