I never said I believed in the whole Ape thing, however, I believe it makes since Apes seem to carry the exact same disease before it was in the human gene pool. The Polio Vaccine could have been the culprit instead, man made chemical could release new forms of disease I suppose.
The virus might have come from nonhuman animals, but that doesn't mean it was sexually transmitted.
The polio vaccine wasn't 100% man made either. It did contain some natural ingredients, one of them being cells from the internal organs of monkeys and possibly apes. It wasn't until years later that people realized using monkey cells might not have been a good idea. There was a virus in the monkey cells that may be linked to cancer, and people are debating whether or not HIV came from infected ape cells in the vaccines too.
Some researchers don't buy the whole polio vaccine theory and believe HIV came from a person who ate contaminated chimp meat or from a chimp bite instead. They're all theories, not facts so far, and people are still researching it. So while we don't know for sure where it came from, we do know that it probably did not come from a human having sex with an ape.
