Tasty. This sure was tasty. Alexander was reveling in the experience of having such a wonderful meal. He was also making very short work of said wonderful meal. However, Farfalla’s next question caught him off-guard, and he brought his eating race to a sudden pause.
“My pack?” Alexander repeated, even though he was sure that’s what she said. Truthfully, he had never really known a pack. Banished after his was conceived, his mother was a lone wolf before he was born. So, technically, his embryo had been in a pack, but since he was born he had not experienced pack life.
“I don’t have one.” Alexander said softly, knowing Farfalla would ask more questions. In the meantime, he resumed his meal.

Actually, Farfalla had only one question after hearing that, and it was a simple one: "What, why?" Okay, so she had more than one question, but for a brief second it had seemed as though she'd leave it at that. "Did you get kicked out for killing somebody? Or maybe you're an heir and you ran away!" The possibilites were endless, and all the ones she had running through her mind were amazing stories!
"Are you a prince?!" she gasped. "You're a runaway prince! That's so cool!"

Alexander folded his ears back in sadness and shame at her first question. He hated remembering why. Especially because it felt so recent. Sometimes he felt as if he could still smell his brother and mom. He hadn’t known his sister well enough to even remember her, but he was sure he would have loved her too.
As Farfalla continued asking questions, his ears perked up. And this girl called HIM weird. Alexander continued munching on what was left of the rabbit. When the prince theory popped up, he couldn’t help but snort into his meal. His head rose, facing her, and cocked to the side as if to say, ‘are you serious?’
Licking his chops, Alexander sat. “You wanna know?” He asked rhetorically. “My mom was banished from her pack before she had me and my brother and sister. And… they, all… died.” The confident pup finished slowly, looking down at the rabbit.

Because her eyes had butterfree wings along side of them, even when Farfalla was frowning, it would often still seem happy to one who wasn't looking directly at her. The wings and bright colors were distracting.
"That's not a nice story at all," she muttered. She'd wanted him to be a runaway heir who had been shunned by his family because he didn't want to eat all his food.
"Farfalla!" Kaho was back, and he seemed more frantic than before. Raja was at his side, looking ready to rip apart any living thing that got within three feet of her. "We need to go, follow me." His eyes shifted to Alexander. "You'll be safe here, but if you do leave, I'll find you again to check on you."
Soon enough, the three were gone.

No, it wasn’t very nice, Alexander thought. He would rather still have his family around if it had been his choice. Slowly, the pup shook his scruffy head and was about to reply to Farfalla. However, he was abruptly cut off.
Alexander was startled as Kaho and an intimidating red wolf emerged from the forest. They both looked equally distressed. From the way the red held herself, Alexander guessed she was the alpha Kaho had sought out. Kaho gave a very short explanation of what was happening, and the three wolves were gone before Alexander really got a chance to know them. His tail drooped slightly at being left behind. He looked into the dark woods ahead, and felt it would be better to return at a later date… with a guide.
The pup finished his rabbit meal, and looked around one last time. He would definitely be back here in the future, but now was simply not the right time.
