Well, ain't that just skippy. I've gotten to work today and discovered that every damned client has cancelled... this place is like a tomb today, just me and the guard.
So to keep myself awake, I've punched up a Grim Reaper set, and cranked the sucker until the glass is rattling in the office windows. 'tis awesome. smile

Hey, here's my question. In the metal forum we're kind of divided by the people who think technical playing is what takes skill/makes good music, and the people who think that emotion is what takes skill/makes good music.... Opinions?!
I personally lean towards the emotional side (Hence my general affinity for "depressing" music such as various branches of doom metal, black metal, dark ambient, etc.), as I personally would rather hear slow, sadness-ridden (Or even, on occasion, there's good non-cheesy music filled with genuine joy and happiness! eek ) music rather than random guitar wankery... This does not mean I don't enjoy my occasional progressive and technical band... Heck, Atheist are one of my favorite bands of all time.
That all said. Time to listen to Possesssed and Nocturnus. cool Two of the first ever death metal bands. domokun OMG SO EMOSHANAL.

Either extreme poses issues: pure technical expertise lacks depth and warmth, and pure emotional energy is VERY distracting to anyone with a musician background like mine.

In other news, I have abandoned any hopes I had of listening to new music as my father is blaring some CDs he got for christmas... So now I have to rely on random songs I am familiar with to pick the tunes out of the cacophany.
BURN! BURN! ENGLAND TO THE GROOOOUND! HEAAAAATHEEEEN ASSAAAAAUUUULLLLLLTTTTTT!
Most powerful vocal moment ever. domokun So epic. Great voice. <3

I really really like the new album of Kate Bush. Though that might be considered sweet if you listen to Lordi all the time, I like all kinds of music. Folk, metal, rock, new-age, some really old-school house, femalefeminist music, the weird musics, music from the 70's, 80's and 90's and even a bit of the classical music.
Good music is good music. Right?

Icysnowgirl Well, this is kind of frustrating. Most of the music that I have from Europe tends to be from Sweden. confused I have next to no Eastern European Music and I think my next biggest bunch comes from Germany. No offence to those who found great bands from Sweden and offered them to me (Heck, I love almost all music without noticing where it is from), but I'd like to offer more countries. sweatdrop I have quite an offering of Polish music, and more than a handful of Slovak stuff. Just say the word.

If you want I can get you copies of uncertain legitimacy via Megaupload, though I dunno how much of the rest of WoY's material (Off the Pursuit of the Sun, and Allure of the Earth album) you'd be partial to (Gets to be more metally, and has a lot of harsh vocals, and blast beats, and distortion and stuff). ninja Tenhi you should like the rest, though. 3nodding

BWAHAHA DELAYED RESPONSE.
I think that technicality is more important than emotion. Sometimes, the absense of emotion strengthens the emotion of the piece. XD; Hurr choir is me!
And... I love music. But. I'm always on the search for new stuff, soooo I'll be stalking this area.

It's cool, once I know the title of something, I can get my boyfriend to get it for me. He's obliging like that.
Speaking of this topic, I recently finished reading Terry Pratchett's Soul Music and thought it was one of his best works yet. heart
