So was I, but it's pretty enough that I bought it, anyway.

That would be great if you could post screenshots. I've never watched the anime. For some reason, thinking about anime and swimsuits at the same time makes me think Please! Teacher.

Oh, the black/navy frilly one, worn by a girl who looks a little like Chii? That's pretty.

I think it's at 32 seconds in.

Mae! Our dresses match!

Lacey, (um...I hope it's okay to call you that.) I agree with you about being careful with that design. I just though it was a good inspiration pic. I hate getting burned, but unless my shoulders are covered, I never fail to burn. >.<

Ja, thanks though.

Its totally cool about calling me Lacey...its adorable~!

Ja, its pretty cute acutally and the parts are detachable for ligher weight...*LOOKS FOR DESIGN*

Loli-bathing suits...

I actually have been pondering about an ama-loli bathing suit it would be so cute 4laugh

Design wise. (now down to buisness) First off you would want to look at the bathing suits of the era, however you wouldn't want to forget about what is worn today. Not only because of the change in fashion, but the advances in fabric. Also remember that we wear less fabric than they did then to swim better and that it was fround upon then.
Also, think about what you want people to think when they see someone in the suit. Yes the person may look cute, but someone might wonder 'OMG, how does that person move under- what is that five layers of fabric.' get my drift?
That doesn't mean we cant wear the extra layers as a fasion statment. We just have to brainstorm and find a balance.

Anyway here is the data I have collected.

This is actually something I have wondered about for a long time.. I imagine since Lolita is a very tasteful, conservative styyle, it wouldn't be appropriate to pass something like bikini off as Loli. Since it is modeled after 18th-ish century clothing, I would assume at around that time if indeed they went bathing, they went in their underwear, which would have been something like bloomers (the knee-length, gathered undies that look more like shorts, gathered at the knee, but with an attaching tank-top-type thing to make it a sort of full-body suit), and of course makeing it out of a cotton-type fabric, but maybe on the medium side (weight-wise), and a darker color for the purpose of having it not be see-through when wet. I imagine if you're going for something like speed, it's best not to wear a loli bathing suit, but something modern. But for the sake of just wearing a loli-type suit this is what I'd suggest, instead of taking something modern and trying to loli it up.. because lots of swim wear today is skanky by loli standards, and would have been unacceptable in the time which Loli fashion is modeled after...

Well, it depends to which extent lolita fashion is actually modelled after Victorian fashion. If you're classic, I'd say a great deal. If you're sweet, not so much. And, if youre Meta, who the heck knows what you're going to do. sweatdrop

I would love one of those full bodied swimsuits, with ruffles at the leg holes you wear as a child. <3

Or one with a skirt, like so:

I don't know if this is really what you were thinking but this is one of the bathingsuits from meta. It' something i would personally like, becuase it looks like those middles school bathingsuits you see in animes.

Thanks for posting those. I thought it was Meta that made the swimsuits, but I couldn't remember.

even though the old swimsuits are more covering, they cant be very much fon to swim in. seriously. even though a newer style bathing suit might seem to "ero" for lolita, its much more practical when it actually comes down to pool time ^_^ if i were you, i would probably just make a tankini with a little swim skirt over it and embelish it with some light sort of lace... and maybe a couple little ruffles here and there... even though lolita isnt supposed to be revealing, this is a swimsuit... and that means it needs to allow movement in the water.
