Listening to the beign speak was possibly the worst part of the encounter. But how could Chris walk away from a creature like this knowing that he would just hunt down other travellers. He narrowed his eyes, and rose a hand. "If its my magic you want, then you'll have it!" He shouted, focussing his energies into the palm of his hand. "Arcane Missile!" He shouted, as the arcane energy compacted, and blasted towards Vlad. If he had any hope in surviveing, he would have to sacrifice all the mana in his aura in one blast. Then purhaps the being would take no interest in him. And of course, with a good nights sleep, the mage knew he could regenerate his mana anyways.

"BINGO!!" Vlad reared up and roared, his stored magical energy bursting from his body in a violent torrent of mana backlash, spinning out from his core and coming into contact with the projectiles, reducing them back to pure mana and adding to the blast.

Although left with out mana, Christopher's conditioning of the mind as a mage left him with a high tolerance to magic attacks. He threw himself face first into the sand ontop of his spell book, and awaited the passage of the wave. A mana vampire... Could he be...? Chris thought, before getting hit by the side in the brunt of the attack, and getting lifted in the air. With his limbs flailing to grab something, his left hand quickly latched onto the edge of a red stone rock formation. He slowly hefted himself up, throwing his book up first. After getting up, he began catching his breath. His copper eyes peared back to see what kind of condition his opponent was in.

Vlad howled again and took out his grappling hook, tossing it up to the top of the formation and using the rope to scramble to the top of it with inhuman speed, that last attack had left him desperate for a good fix, and he needed that spell book to get it."It doesn't eat, it doesn't sleep, it doesn't laugh or cry, all it dose, all day long, is make the mages DIE"

Christopher narrowed his eyes at Vlad's chant. The entity before him must have hunted several mages more experienced than him. Arcane spells would be useless against a being like that. But Chris wasn't usless with out his magic. Still, the creature still persisted after him. Why? The book! Chris thought, reaching for the book and shoving it in his pack. He quickly did a backwards pivit kick to swipe the grapling hook off the cliff, then unsheathed his sword, and swooped down with an over head slash. "Take this!" He shouted, as his smokey grey hair waved up from the fall.

Vlad clung to the cliff and continued to scale it, his spider like movements remaining fast and driven. He neared the top and narrowly ducking under the sword, clinging to the formation with his legs and pulling out a pair of daggers, using one to block the return swing of the sword, and the other to take a stab at the bottom of the pack, attempting to rip it open. Over and over again he stabbed at the bag, shrieking harshly at the mage."GIVE!! ME!! YOUR!! BAG!!"

Christopher, noticing that the fiend was stabbing at his pack, quickly turned away, only to recieve a minor stab wound of his own, just below the rib cage. "Shi-" He weezed, not completing the word, before swinging around, and unstraping the back pack from his shoulder, then swinging it at the side of Vlad's head, backing a second attack behind it with his left hand, aiming the blade to the elf's torso.

Vlad saw the backpack and reacted, grabbing it and pushing himself off the rock formation backwards and headfirst, doing a number of flips in midair before landing hard in the soft sand below. He hugged the back pack tightly and then dropped it, rifling through the pack to grab the book, getting blood everywhere from the deep wound on his arm from where the second attack connected. He grabbed the book and held it up, giggling madly and dancing around a bit.

"Wow, what a moron." Christopher sighed. "He took the bait and opened himself up to that attack. Any novice mage knows that a soulbound spell book could return to its owner at will." Chris quickly summoned his book back to him, leaving Vlad with just a pack of mana potions, and a dairy. Chris quickly began dashing away, into a canyon of rock formations. With the time he spent training with the theives, he learned many nooks and crannies of the canyon, as well as traps set for situations like this. He wondered how useful they would be. But with out them, Chris was clearly out matched. He needed an edge of home territory.

Vlad popped up behind Chris, making a stab at the canyon wall infront of him."You really don't know what Illidari are capable of do you?" He cackled and started stabbing wildly at the mage's back, aiming for any number of vital spots. Abdominal Leora, 3rd vertebra from the top of the spine, and so on. He was going to make this Mage learn what it was to feel an addiction for magic, even if it killed him.

A cold sweat fell from Chris's forehead. The Illidari? He was fighting a corrupted elf the whole time? At first he mistaked the figure for some special breed of wraith. From the moment he heard a crackle, Chris's first reaction was to turn to the side. Many areas on his right arm, shoulder, and torso where horribly rended, as he let out a loud painful cry. He dropped to the ground, spilling blood from his wounds. But his left arm still around his book. This book was the key to finding out who he was. And he was determined to reach this goal before the end. Christopher continued to bleed painfully, wincing in pain. He began in futile effort to crawl away. For the moment, he was wishing he was some place very far away. Please, god He thought, whimpering away on his stomach. I cant go like this! Not now! Chris prayed, converting his life force into mana. He had enough in him for one spell. And quickly, he rose to his knees, flapping the book open. It magically scrolled to the page in mind. A teleportation spell. "Destination!" He shouted, as his mind frantically tried to recall a place in his memories, but failed. "Anywhere but here!" He shouted. A loud bang was heard, as blue arcane fire scorched the area where he once stood, leaving behind a mist like residue.
((Lol, thanks for letting Chris's introduction so awsome. cool ))

((oh I'm SO not done with you magic boy...))
Vlad saw him whip open the book and made a reach for it, just making contact with him as the spell activated. He was filled with energy then thrown back. He suddenly was aware of a few things. One, his arm was bleeding, two, his little mage prey had no idea where he was headed, and three... he knew exactaly where the poor boy was. He lay there for a second, reveling in the magical energies coursing through him. It wasn't what he was going for, but it did the trick. He got up, bandaged his arm, and scrambled down the rock face, collected his Grappling Hook, and headed out for Koi High.
