I, also, am under 18. Currently in college I am studying History, Geography, English, Classical Studies, Physics and Chemistry. We have to decide our subjects for next year soon and I'm having a little trouble because I am unsure on whether I want to follow the social sciences or physical sciences when I go on to university. This would determine whether I take Calculus or Statistics next year (I skipped a year in maths when I first got to high school so took a break from it this year so I could do other subjects). I'm leaning towards Calculus as Stats would probably be easier to pick up at university, and through the experiences of my sister's friend (who's in his first year at uni) I have discovered that doing physics is difficult without having taken calculus in seventh form (my sister took calculus and not physics and she's finding it easier than him =P). The other subjects I'll be taking are History, Geography, Physics and Chemistry (I can only take five subjects next year, which sucks).

So that's an overview of my academic situation at the moment, I didn't mean to go on quite so much but any advice would be 'preciated.

EDIT: For all you Americans, college translates to high school and university translates to college. Yes, I am a New Zealander.

It changes, I'm trying to stick ot the more intelligent ones for now, because it's easier to make comparisons there. Obviously what it means ot be intelligent itself varies depending on how you perceive what intelligence means, but there are some general standards. Dogs are particulary appealing to me, more because of their emotions rather than their intelligence. Octopi are also fairly intelligent, though I haven't done very much research on them at all. It's hard for me to pick one species specifically, right now I'm being mroe general until I find a more specific basis of study.

Are you going about this biologically, or just on how intelligent an animal is?

Any hint of an age-requirement has been stricken from existance and replaced with a more indepth Membership Request Informational for potential members to fill out.

I was going to say that I thought it would be good to keep the requirement just to keep things on a more intellectual level, but I like the Memb Request Info .... serves the same purpose without eliminating those that would be great contributors, like our already existing yununs.

Oh btw? I'm also a nut about planes .....

Well more intelligence wise than actual similar anatomy to ours...like I said, I know there's different ways to measure intelligence, and us humans are probably going about finding out how intelligent other animals are completely the wrong way, but there must be some indication somewhere...

I am also under 18, though not for much longer, and only in high school. Grasscutter, you're lucky your school offers such interesting courses, half my classes are rather boring.

My passion is history and gaming, my mom is a published Fantasy/Sci-Fi author who writes under the name Kate Elliott. My dad has a Ph.D in Anthropolgy and works for the DoD finding MIA American soldiers in other couuntries. I actually inherited my passion for gaming from them, in comparison to their success, i'm so lazy I may fail high school.

Wow, a lot of you make me feel, rather incompotent.

I'm 18. I'm only in my second semester of community college. I'm just taking the basics so far. I'm not sure what exactly I'm going to major in, but I know it will be something with graphic arts. sweatdrop See I can decide if I want to go into the film industry or video games. Heh. I'm not the brightest person about "all you knows it" kind of things. I get very intimidated about stating my opinions; A fear of being received as stupid. redface A hobby study of mind, that i like talking about maybe a bit too much is people. Psychology, Communication, and history. 4laugh It's so neat. When I took my speech 106 class, I thought it'd be an absolute bore, but it was the most interesting class. It helped me become more skilled in debating.

I would say any of those choices are good for a career. Though since your in this guild I'd assume you hold a higher level of open mindedness and ability to debate. So I'd go with Video Games or Graphic Design/Art. Just because those careers, though can be limiting depending on your cliets, allow an artist to put their own spin on things, even in the most strict of assignments. Then again I look down the film industry as it seems a key tactic is to copy what the person making the most money does. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it seems creativity is limited.
