Yeah I think its expensive too, and honestly think its a waste of money to spend that much on a costume that will only be worn once, twice if we're lucky. But I have learned that it does me no good to open my mouth and voice my opinions to his mother, because she will override my decisions and do it no matter what. Irks me to the extreme, but I've also learned its better to attempt to ignore her sweatdrop My parents never spent money on halloween costumes. They had a couple for us that were either handmade or hand-me-down (cat, bunny, ladybug, and witch,) and we rotated. I was mentioning to Jason today too that I NEVER got new clothes until I was old enough to ride my bike out and buy myself a shirt that I liked (and I didn't do that often. My first dress I bought the summer before my Senior year.) Everything was hand-me-down.
Now Jason's family has a big tradition with Halloween, where they always have 2 parties: One for the kids to invite their school friends, and a second usually the following night for just the family (34 people!) and everybody makes a huge deal about surprising everybody else with a unique costume that nobody's ever seen/worn before. The first few years I picked out new costumes, like French Maid, Sorceress, Fairy, but then I realized how expensive this was going to get and started to create my own. I used stuff I had and went as Jason, then gothic, then a school teacher... This year I want to use stuff I have too, or maybe borrow. Jade's gotten a new costume every year, and she's usually a princess of some sort, and we figure she can reuse the dresses for dress-up, but she doesn't even like to play dress-up like her cousins do! At least THEY get use out of it when they come over!

Well, ever since I threw my M-I-L outa our house, we only see or hear from her when we invite her over. So I can't say we have that problem...
Kinda sad about it sometimes, but then again not. SHe threatened to kill herself so that my husband would ask her to move in with us... that never sat right with me. Yikes, yeah that doesn't seem like a very wise move on her part.
stare I'd have issues with that too.
