Written in a little blue book...

April 17, 2005: 5:15 PM

Ugh. I hate responsibility, sometimes. I hate it so.

It's nothing big - art things to do. Can't get them done, driving me insane.

In better news, the leaf's pot seems to be working quite well. I only have to water it twice a day, now - that's still a lot, but it's better than having to give it water all the time! I water it some in the morning and some in the evening. That way, the dirt is constantly moist. It's like a little sponge! Where is all the water going, anyhow? I can't see where it puts it all...

Ah well.

Jadaria poked at the leaf's underside. She had brought it inside to 'introduce' it to all of the other inhabitants of the house, and it now seemed rather sleepy - it was drooping over, though it wriggled when she touched it. She'd gotten over the fact that it was a living... thing apparently had ceased to bother her.

"What is? What is?" Kashimi hopped across the bar, leaning over and sticking his beak near the writhing piece of greenery.

"Don't know, Kash... It's, well... It's a leaf! According to the people that gave it to me, it'll turn into a baby, but..."

"Baby? Leafegg? Is leafegg?" The Nightmare hopped from one foot to the other, ruffling his feathers eagerly. "Is little, little, little leafegg! Little. Too small. No baby, no baby baby from so small leafegg..."

"Oh, Kash, you're so weird...." She reached out and scritched at the top of his head, eyeing the leaf as it settled down. It seemed to give off a discontent air, as though it understood the bird's words. "Look, you upset it..."

"Oh... Leafegg no be sad! No sad! No sad sad sad no~!" He settled down, crooning at the piece of greenery apologetically.

Jadaria just laughed.

Accomplished today: Introduced Kashimi to the leaf. Found a proper watering schedule.

Apparently... I was wrong. I thought that the leaf was on a schedule, but... I guess not.

I went to the Eden building today, and met two people - Feather and Bird. Interesting pair. Both had a leaf, but Feather's was amazing! It flew around with Kashimi a little while... I guess my Nightmare made a friend? I think it would be good for him...

Anyway.

The leaf's been slurping up ANY liquid that comes near it. ANY! Even some tea! I guess it liked it, seemed happy enough... Such an odd little leaf. What's it DOING with all the liquid?

Maybe that's its energy...? Could it be storing it up for something...?

At any rate, I've met two more Eden guardians, and I'm quite happy about that. I love meeting friends! The leaf didn't really interact with others, but, well...

I can't say leaves don't so much. Feather's FLEW!

A strange humidity rests in the room, just like all the water you have ever given to the leaf evaporates now. Thick clouds are slowly forming above the flowerpot and the climate drifts slowly towards the heat in the Tropical Rain forests. In between the leaf has started to wiggle strongly.

Jadaria entered the greenhouse, staggering back a few feet at the wave of heat and liquid that hit her. She blinked a few times, waving a hand in front of her face as though to cool it.

"Woah... like back home..."

Closing the door behind her, she squinted - locating the clouds wasn't very difficult in the building of greens. She crinkled her nose, approaching slowly. She knelt, eye level with the leaf.

"Hey, what're you doing, little leaf...?"

She reached out, poking at the wriggling green thing cautiously. What was all of this? Those clouds! Was THAT what the water was for? What was it DOING, anyway...?

"Hey, are you okay...?" A little bit of worry crept into her voice and her brows furrowed as she watched it uncertainly.

Was it sick...?

White Feather

"Come on, Alexander! You might not know it, but MAN it's cold out here!"

A small leaf suddenly zoomed into view, then plopped itself down on the girl who had previously spoken's head. She smiled immediately, and looked down at the basket she was carrying. She had folded the blanket which covered it's contents just right so that what it contained could be seen, even if only slightly. A note sat on top of the blanket, too. It read:

letter
Dear Kajika and Jadaria,
We were strolling through the minishops today, and Alexander saw to it by poking me persistantly that I buy this little plushie for the two of you! My head is still throbbing, but you know, it's all good. cool Hope you enjoy!

~ <3 White Feather and Alexander

Upon unravelling the blanket further, a clear image of the plushie would be found:

"Let's go!" Feather set the basket down at Jadaria's doorstep, and without another word, dissapeared down the road and out of sight.

Instead of giving an answer the leaf's surface slowly starts to dissolve. It almost seems like it's melting away. It wiggles stronger and because of the clouds, which don't stop floating around, it almost appears like it's covered by water.

"Woah! Hey! What are you doing?!" Jadaria cried out in shock and greatly increased worry - was it disappearing? Where was it going?!

She grabbed the pot and pulled it to her chest, clutching it tightly. Rocking it, she pleaded with little murmurs and coos - it couldn't dissolve! Whatever she had done, she'd fix it, she promised!

"Please, don't... don't melt! Did I give you too much water? Oooh, please, don't melt!"

Uncaring of the mass of clouds any longer, all she wanted was to know that her leaf was okay... She wasn't really sure why - what sense would angsting over a leaf make? - but it didn't matter. All that mattered was saving the... the... poor little melting thing!

She bent her head over the pot, rocking it back and forth gently.

"Please..."

As the leaf hears the nice words it stops to move at once and silence rules inside the greenhouse for a moment. In between the clouds are growing thicker and more intense so it's impossible to see your own hands anymore. After lasting for a few seconds something wet touches Jadaria's face and the clouds vanish at once. In front of her lies a young boy.

"Ohmigosh!" With a startled cry, Jadaria stumbled backwards, then collapsed onto her knees, arms wrapped around the newly-appeared toddler. She stared, incredulous, gaping at the small creature blankly.

At least until his bright smile faded some and he began to squirm.

"Kaaajeeeee... Kaaaaa....!" He whined prodding at her face with one hand, sticky from where it had been in his mouth. He smudged the saliva across her face, cooing at her in gibberish

"Huh...? Hey!" She laughed, pulling the hand away from her face and squeezing it lightly. "Slimy! What're you saying, little guy...?"

"Kaaaajee kaaajee kaaajeekaa...!" He giggled, swaying back and forth gleefully. Kajeeka? Kajika?

"Ka...jika? Hey, that would be an adorable name!" She grinned - it seemed so cliche to her, after watching so much anime, but... really... the sounds made a perfect name, especially for the dark little boy. She chuckled, then kissed his forehead lightly. He giggled, then began to squirm again.

"Haaaa....." He whined, his face screwing up from the smile into a bit of a grimace. He opened his fairly wide mouth, motioning towards it. "Haanneee..."

"Haaanee..? Hany? ...Hungry! You're hungry!" She gasped, a strange wave of understanding. "Let's get you something to eat!" She chuckled, pushing herself to a stand, still sort of in a daze...

"Hungy! Hungy! Eeeeet!" he chirped, wriggling happily and latching onto her shirt tightly.

Am I a strange parent...? I think I might be. I have to be! Kajika's a little boy... but... well...

I took him to the mall today. Why? He needed new clothes. His current outfit's adorable, but one cannot live in overalls alone! He seemed to like it, though he kept trying to bounce away.

He bounces. And jumps. And leaps. A lot.

He seemed to have a taste for all things red and black. I can't say I blame him, though it's funny, considering he's so young. Still, I couldn't resist him. He's got five new outfits, and a few random shirts. I'll put some pictures here, later!

But back to the strange parent thing...

He saw earrings. I don't wear them, but the lady at the store had some. He was infatuated with them. What prompted me...? Gods, I don't know. It seems like a horrific idea now, but at the time...

I mean, I want to raise him openly. He'd get it done when he's older, I'm almost sure... "Mother's intuition?" Maybe.

What am I getting at?

My little boy got his ears pierced. Am I wrong for that? I don't think so. The little black studs are absolutely adorable on him. Little girls get it done even younger - what's the big deal?

And he adores them.

I guess that's all that matters... Let him be bohemian. I think it fits him, especially with his facial structure and skin tone. It enhances it, I think.

Others can kiss my you-know-what.

Kajika finally made some real friends!

Well, sort of. We went to the Eden building yesterday. I was too tired to write about it when I got home, but I've finally gotten around to doing it. He's a little ball of energy! And now I feel bad for Bird...

Kaji met Raven, Bird's Eden child. She's absolutely adorable! She latched onto my slippers... I think she really liked them. I was tempted to give her one, actually... Maybe I still will. But anyway!

He loves to bounce. Bounce, bounce, bounce! She learned how to bounce from him, I think. I don't know if she has enough energy to move about as much as my Kaji does, but... well, I need to apologize, I think. Heh.

He also met Alexander, but I don't think he understood what it was. Eheh.

I bought him a bear. We call it Kaji-kun. I don't know - he named it, I swear! He named himself, too... maybe I should stop letting him name things...

"Kaaaajiiii! Kaji!" The toddler waved the two-toned bear around gleefully over his head, bouncing in place on the floor and making a generally loud ruckus.

"Kaji, that's not you...!"

"Kajiiiikooon!"

"Kaji-kun? No, no, it's not you...!

"Kaji-koon?" The little face screwed up, as though to cry - alerting the mother to pull him into a hug.

"Okay, okay...! Kaji-kun. We'll call him Kaji-kun, okay?" Jadaria sighed softly.

Accomplished today: Bought a teddy for Kaji!

Opening the front door, you find a note and a small box with air-holes.

Teh NOTE Of D0000M!

Jadaria, Kajika
I decided to welcome the new Edens by giving them a few selected gifts. biggrin Unfortunately, this one took a while to arrive, but I hope you can forgive.
I had to pull a few strings, but tadaa! I suspect you know how to take care of it way better than I do.
What in the world has the crazy woman gone and bought this time, you're probably wondering. Well, I decided that it might be a bit lonely for Kajika to be the only one of his kind, and especially when he's the most 'exotic' of the children (yet), soo..
Well, you better look in the bag to find out!

Lotsa love,
Kat and Shouko
(We gotta meet up sometime soon, ne?)

As you open the bag, THIS is the sight that greets you.

Well, I accidentally ripped out pages of the book, thinking that they were something else... Ugh. Now I have to write a synopsis of everything that's been going on, don't I?

Well, Kajika's as hyper as ever, but he's beginning to learn how to walk. He can speak better too, and believe me - he's a little chatterbox. I forget what it's called, but there's a condition where toddlers try and talk about more than they have words for. Indeed, that's my dear Kajika. He never gets deterred, though; he just keeps trying!

I got his hair cut, but it's still decently long... I think I'd like him to grow it out. It's so beautiful! I hope he doesn't mind.

He loves Lehmann. The little frog that Anon left, that is. He can't really play with him, but he does sit and stare and make weird noises at him for hours. I don't really understand it, but... Hey, why not? There's nothing wrong with it, I suppose.

Ah, yes. I seriously need to get Kajika out of the house. He's driving me insane! Not as though I blame him - he likes to be around the other children, but I'm keeping him cooped up here. Not as though I can help it... I just now got rid of most of those little gems.

I should be able to get out more, now!

I did do something else for Kaji, though. I bought a chao - another creature for my already busy household, yes, I know, it's a bit much... But it's for him! I'm going to let him take care of it. He's young, yes, but it's early training for responsibility. He already wants to help me around the house, but I can't let him... He's not big enough!

He's such a thoughtful little thing... Too hyperactive though. He learned the word 'please,' so now he says it at least a hundred times a day. It's better than him saying 'no' a million times a day, but... Well, he needs to learn that please will NOT necessarily get him what he wants.

At least he doesn't cry a lot. It breaks my heart when he does, though.

"Cash want fewds?" Kajika bounced up and down excitedly, wriggling around as he did so and grasping up at the small machine that filled up drives for the chao. Jadaria watched, amused at the toddler's enthusiasm for his new friend.

"I suppose... But remember, one a day! What colour do you want?"

"Uhm... Can'see! Lif' up? Lif up! Pwease?!"

Jadaria sighed softly, but reached down and lifted the little boy into her arms. She noted mentally that he was getting big! Bigger than before, anyway... She'd bulk up some muscle toting his little butt around, certainly.

"There, now. Which one do you want to give him?"

"Uhm... uhm uhm uhm! Dat one!" Kajika pointed, squirming with glee. "Yelloooo one!"

"Alright..." She reached out and picked one of the glowing tubes and handed it to Kajika, then set him down. "Go give it to Cash, hon."

And so the little toddler bounded off gleefully on his first caretaking mission.

Accomplished today: Finally attained time to bring Kaji back out to visit others. Bought another pet, this one specifically for Kaji to learn responsibility with.
