Cloudskipper [Rimmer]Marvellous! biggrin [/Rimmer] I've never heard anyone spell it with "zee" before! I'm not sure which is the "official" way to spell it XD And another question...do you prefer soft-light or hard-light Rimmer? I say soft-light all the way biggrin So much more angsty potential!! ^_^ I always thought hard-light sorta defeated the purpose of him being a hologram character in the first place razz But I guess that's just me XD I think I prefer soft-light for the same reason... being a hard-light hologram is kinda silly. I mean, it makes loopholes less of a joy for nitpickers, but really. What's the point of making him hard-ight? Why not just bring him back to life sooner than they did? Such existential questions. Le sigh. xd Of course, it's nice to think that a hard-light Rimmer has at least a little more chance to be happy than a soft-light Rimmer. Because at heart we all just want him to get to a point where he doesn't loathe himself. Right? ninja

I so agree with you both biggrin I'm not too fussed about the plotholes with the soft-light status (the Polymorph being able to attack him etc)...when it really counts, they do make clear that he can't touch anything!
I always prefer to read fanfics where he's soft-light...lots of people seem to set them after "Legion", though >_< Personally I don't like series 6 very much redface So I prefer reading pre-series 6 ones! ^_^
starlit_jewel, that quote you posted is so moving! He looks so sad when he says that...awwwww...

I'm thinking about getting a banner rotator that's JUST Red Dwarf pics... or maybe some for other guilds too, not sure.
I agree that Rimmer's the deepest character. He's just got so much on his mind!
I actually nearly cried at the Timeslides episode the first time I saw, well, I mean I laugh at it now, but back then, I was completely heartbroken. He got one lucky break and it literally blew up in his face... sweatdrop

Love the whole "I'm alive" sequence! Especially the smeg-up when the boxes fall on his head - that's classic XD
But yeah, you do feel really sorry for him then, though! sad I think the series where they were most sympathetic to him was series II - I love Thanks for the Memory so much, since you get to see how much better Rimmer would have treated Lise Yates than Lister did!
I have a question about the fanfiction thread ^_^ Could I PM you the link to my fanfic so you could add it to the main thread? Or do I need to post a new topic? smile

Rimmer would definitely treat girls better than Lister... if he would let them get close enough. Rimsie has a habit of pushing people away. Only because he doesn't like himself, of course, but he still does it. Of course if a girl worthy enough came along I'm sure she'd persist.

I started to make some banners for the guild, and specifically this thread, last night, but I got a little sidetracked. xd Maybe tonight!

I really hope you enjoy the smeg-ups when you see them! They're classic - my fave ones have to be from series II and series V. smile There's a certain Back To Reality one which gets me every time! xd If we ever do a guild meetup, we'd all have to watch RD together, including the smeg-ups! biggrin
