I recommend Fushigi Yuugi and Ceres: Celestial Legend.

I would go: Ceres, Imadoki, and Fushigi Yugi.
That way it goes...depressing, happy, moderate.

'S far as I know, Alice 19th was the best. I couldn't really handle FY, but I'll let you know if I get any further with CERES (I've read books 1 and 2). So far of that series, I think 1 was good and 2 goes a LITTLE downhill. BUT!... that doesn't mean it can't pick up again!

I really recommend finishing reading Ayashi no Ceres. Although the begining isn't very good, things get awesome in volume 3/4. And the ending was just perfect... I highly recommend it. 3nodding

I liked Alice 19th. But the others are good, too. I also suggest Appare Jipangu. It's really funny, and the characters are all different from every other manga of hers that I've read, in my opinion.

actually now that i think about it appare jipangu really might be the most unique series from sensei...even the heroine isnt all "damsel in distress" (except maybe when she lost her staff which i cant remember what its called at the moment...kongomaru? kangomaru? i bet you it doesnt even end in "-maru" xp )
