It's funny.. because both Marik and Malik are actual names. So I don't know which one it really is. I say Mariku for the manifestation/darker half, and Malik for the lighter half.
Mariku is my third favorite character in the whole show. He's just so insane that it makes him awesome.

Mariku is my third favorite character in the whole show. He's just so insane that it makes him awesome. Well, Marik is spelled Merrick. Malik's name was changed to Marik in the dub so it wouldn't sound so ethnic (you know, because all sixteen-year-old Egyptians are evil and out to kill people for no reason rolleyes ). I LOVE me the Malik! So sexy... and his other personality is too, that tongue! Sugoi!

I say 'Malik' just becase....well, I don't have a reason, I just prefer it. I'm so lame. xD Anyways, I didn't mention it earlier (and as if it isn't obvious enough from my profile) Malik is my favourite character because without him, I would never have gotten into the show in the first place. I wasn't at all a fan until they showed the origins of his yami, and I thought it was fascinating so I became a fan. xd
EDIT: Who voted 'not a fan'? C'mon, I'll find out who you are anyway. Grrr. mad

XD I usually call the yami Mariku and the hikari Malik... But whenever I'm not sure people will know what I'm talking about I call them Malik and Yami no Malik.... That way there's absolutely no room for mistakes. ^.^
I like them because for fanfiction purposes, they're very versatile characters. They range from 'emo psychopath' to 'overly happy basket case'
And, of course, it helps that they're preeeetty.... >.> *stare stare* But Mariku's hair.... >.< Impossible to draw. >.o *kills self trying*

Yushimi Lemonade Serenade Morgana13 'Malik' means king in Arabic. My freind loves him. I think he's pretty cool. (He gives me nightmares though... sweatdrop ) Yami Malik is sexy...especially his tounge..XD You can not be serious eek

I enjoy torturing my Malik fan friend. She wants to go to AWA as Malik from my fan fic. Which so far has had him sedatly walking around like a very sedate sugar high fiend. Well in the chapter I'm writing he's acting like a mature adult. Now this is my super static cling friend we're talking about so I fully expect when I post these two chapters she's going to call me demanding how she's supposed to act mature.

Only 2 pages of Marik lovin'? We gotta get more fans to come in here and respresent! Anyway, I use both pronunciations back and forth. It confuses almost everyone I talk to. xd
Note: I kinda treat the two as different people, instead of one schitzo. I blame fanfiction.
I like his psycho personality just because he didn't really have a plan or a reason for being so evil. He kinda just woke up and decided to wreak some havoc. I respect that. Regular Marik had a more traumatizing past I suppose, which sometimes made him act like an obnoxious emo boy in my eyes. I give him props for that anchor duel set-up though. That was twisted genius.
I like them both. Dunno if i could chose.

Yes, the anchor duel was certainly a stroke of brilliance, and deliciously twisted. heart I think that was actually the first episode I saw. I liked it. xD
I kind of differ between which names I use too. If I'm talking YuGiOh with my brother, I just say 'good Marik,' and 'bad Marik' because I tried using Malik and Yami Malik and he didn't quite get it (he is only eight years old bless 'im). I know it's a massive oversimplification but *shrug* like I said, he is only eight. When I talk to others, I tend to use Malik and Marik, hikari and yami respectively.

Malik on the other hand doesn't stand out much to me, but I like how much he did to get revenge on the Pharoah, even capturing Jounouchi! :O (the anchor duel and Jounouchi VS Kaiba in Battle City finals are probably my two favorite duels... oh, and Jounouchi VS Yami no Malik...) Plus, Malik is a lot sexier than his dark personality, though they're both sexy... *coughs*

I've tried because my friends love them, but I fail to find them sexy personally.
The yami is too psychotically perverted(I think the rude tonque gestures were already discussed in this thread).
And regular Marik is just too fruity. I'm sorry. Lavendar belly-shirts just don't make me want him, they make me want to take him shopping with me to the mall to get his opinion on sparkly accessories.
I still appreciate them both... just not physically. I might be able to get into yami no marik if that whole twisted facey-vein thing could be solved with a pill though. surprised
