Made me think of one of the Zen stories I read in the book Zen Flesh, Zen Bones.

Zen Flesh, Zen Bones
A university student while visiting Gasan asked him: Have you ever read the Christian Bible?
No, read it to me, said Gasan.
The student opened the Bible and read from St. Matthew: And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin, and yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these . . . . Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Gasan said: Whoever uttered those words I consider an enlightened man.
The student continued reading: Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.
Gasan remarked: That is excellent. Whoever said that is not far from Buddhahood.
No, read it to me, said Gasan.

Of course, the person made damn sure to ignore Jesus' racism and his condemnation of those who disagreed with him (and those who were not Jewish) to hell when he read from the Bible. rolleyes Cherry picking for the win.
Please explain that? I mean to be fair I know of stories where He basically yells at and condemns those in the towns/villages where he visits and performs his ministry and they do not believe, he gets angry at the hypocrites in the temple and throws them out, yet I do not recall any verse along the lines of "Go forth in my name, and condemn those who do not walk in my footsteps or who disagree with my teachings." But I am very far from a bible scholar smile
But I (Catholic) agree that Buddha and Jesus thought along the same lines, though of coarse instead of seeing it as Jesus like Buddha I see it as Buddha is up there chillin with Jesus smile
The most important teaching of both of them (from how I see it) is to be compassionate, to everyone.
And yes, if only Christians would pay more attention to the teachings of love and stop imagining the crap loads of hate they seem to find in it.
