Kayde 8 He had barely started moving towards the front door when her arm shot out, unexpectedly, and grabbed onto him. Startled, Kayde stopped and looked down at her perfectly manicured nails, glinting dark blue in the light from his nearby candle. He jerked his arm away, pulling out of her grasp and continued making for the door. He wasn't thinking about anything else. Not about how she was feeling or how this might look to her. For once in his life, he didn't really care. He just needed to be alone.

Elka 9 A strangled gasp escaped Elka's lips as the man pulled out of her grip so violently. He'd always been so gentle in voice and behavior with her and everyone else, that it was so shocking to see him so angry, as if her very touch and presence was an offense to him. She didn't reach for him, again, but nor did she allow him to just walk away. "Where are you going?" She hated that her voice wobbled. Her hands at her side shook slightly, every part of her struggling to keep her composure. At least until he was gone. Than she would let loose. It was so much easier to keep her emotions in check with him around.
So what would happen when he was the reason?

Kayde 9 The sound of her voice made him stop, halfway towards the front door. He could hear the sounds of the kids outside, coming a little closer. It was still bright out, the sun still a hour or so away from dipping below the horizon, so they shouldn't be returning to the house for a while, yet. He stood and listened to them to make sure. The last thing he wanted was for them to see their parents like this. He and Elka had never fought before. Maybe a small disagreement, ut they had always talked things out easily. Of course, she'd never gone behind his back like this before.
"I don't know. Somewhere."

Elka 10 "Will you be back?" Elka was not listening for the kids. Couldn't hear them over the pounding of her heart in her ears. The day had started off so promising. And than the news about the house they could share with her brother. He'd even given her full permission to decorate it as she saw fit, as if she were the mistress of the house. Which, in a way, she was. Deric's wife had no intentions on leaving Zena. Ever. Not something she could understand. She'd always looked forward to the family trips. A chance to get away from the cold and snow for a little bit, a few times a year. It had been fun using what little space she had had here in this small house, but she had bigger visions that only a large house could provide her. Only, she wasn't so sure anymore it would be happening. At least not yet. The fact that he hadn't stormed out and was still standing there gave her hope that this wasn't the beginning of the end for them. Maybe after he calmed down, he would see reason.

Kayde 10 Still with his back to her, Kayde turned his head slightly. Not enough to be able to see her, his pale eyes focused on a side table next to the large couch where they had spent so many evenings side by side, reading or watching the kids at play in the middle of the floor. "Yes," was all the answer he could give her before walking forward and leaving the house. In truth, he already felt a little bit calmer. A dullness had already seeped into him, from the top of his head down to his toes. He felt numb to the whole situation. He started to walk in the opposite direction from where he could hear the kids, hoping to avoid them. To where, he had no clue. Wherever his feet took him was good enough.
He didn't return to the house until well after dark.
