Mira sighed, in an Oh-Cedric-Don't-be-scared-way.
She stood up, and went to sit on the side of his bed. "Oh Cedric, old chum... You're not going mad. You're perfectly sane. It's this room that is making us feel closeted." she comforted him, while stroking his hand in a friendly way. "We need to get out of here, that's all. And it may just be me, but..." she looked around, and when she was almost sure nobody was listening, she continued, whispering: "It may just be me, but... I think it is time to open the door."

The sound of the words 'The door' flying out of Mira's mouth made Ankah decide that she really didn't feel like lying still and holding her breath anymore. She wanted IN on this conversation, and wasn't about to let it go on behind her back. She snapped her head up, glared over at Mira and hissed "You're trying to say that you're NOT crazy? The only thing you could do that would possibly be MORE crazy than whatever got you landed in here is open that door! Don't be an idiot."

Mira glared at Ankah. "Firstly, I did not do anything insane to get in here! Secondly, if it means going to the outside world, I WILL do something insane to get out, even if it means opening the door!" she hissed back. In her mind, she was in more danger in the room, than she would be in the tunnel.

"Well, I'm not really quite sure how the weather is, considering we're inside. But if you're basing it on the temperature in here, it is quite nice," a blushing Bess replied, ashamed that anyone had heard her talking to a pillow.

Cedric, comforted by Mira's words, began to think about the door, when Ankah had suddenly come into the conversation. It seemed as if a fight was inevitable, but a fight would only cause more trouble and noise. And if that happened, some of the more... unstable inmates might awake, and that would not do any good.
"Calm down, you two. You'll wake up the others." he whispered urgently. "Bess, help me!"

"How?" Bess asked. "Erm. I'd yell 'Quiet', but that'd just wake others." She tried to think of how to quiet things.

Mira let out a quiet 'humph' and went back to talking to Cedric. "So what do you think?" she asked.
She was shaking with adventure. What would happen behind that door? What was there? Was it freedom?

Cedric shook, the pressure and tension getting to him. A drop of sweat rolled down his face, and he dabbed at it with a napkin that he'd saved from last week's meal.
"Now, now... calm down, everyone... let's just have some... tea... and crumpets... they'll calm us down." Reaching for some cups - Cedric always kept some, sent to him by his father - Cedric offered the empty glasses to those around him with shaking hand. "Does... does no one want crumpets or tea? Please... please have some..."
All that surrounded him were, in his mind, glares and stares. Which finally caused him to snap.
SMASH!
Pieces of glass fell to the floor as Cedric smashed one of his cups onto the wall. "I SAID, DOES ANYONE WANT SOME TEA OR CRUMPETS! TEA! CRUMPETS! Crumpets..." With his voice declining in volume, Cedric fell to his bed, weeping.

A bit scared by Cedric's random outburst, Mira got herself together and started stroking his hand again. Inbetween soft shushing noises, she said: "Easy now, Cedric, old chum, easy. I'd like some tea and crumpets. Everybody would like tea and crumpets, but they are sleeping now... But let's have a tea party now, eh? It'll be fun." She never got tired of tea and crumpets, being born in England herself. She loved tea.

Ankah seethed at Mira-- "You're supposed to be his friend, and LOOK what you did to him! Even THINKING about that door is bad. No one is going to get better in here if we keep thinking about THE ******** DOOR! It's nothing! It's there to tempt us. As soon as we get to wherever it leads us we'll be in a WORSE place than we are now. Stop hurting your friends and stop bringing the rest of us into your crazy ideas!"

Bess shook as she heard the glass break. "Th-that's okay, Cedric; I'd like some tea..."

That was the final straw, and Mira would not stand for it. "Why ELSE do you think the door is there? It HAS to be opened! Can't you see? Is that something your miniscule brain cannot take? It's not ME that's driving anyone insane, it's this room! We NEED to get out of here! And how can YOU decide on wether or not it's ME who caused that? I think that's HIS decision, so stop putting your abnormally large nose into other people's business, and LEAVE us ALONE!" she screamed. Suddenly realising what she had just done, she hastily sat back down on Cedric's bed. This wasn't who she was. She never screamed, at anyone. Mira started crying. "Can't you see? We need to get out of here." she whispered. She hugged her legs, and started saying that to herself.

Bess Laurence shook her head. She preferred to stay out of these arguments. Cedric and Mira were her friends, and she didn't want to draw attention to the fact that she actually WANTED to stay here.

Ankah simply flipped Mira the bird, and went back to quietly eavsdropping. "Let them be self destructive if they want to-- it's them who will be in here forever and I who will be let out when I've proven that I'm a good girl!" she thought to herself.
((gotta go home now ^^;; or else I woulda continued the fight))

Cedric had sufficiently calmed down, thanks to Mira and Bess, and was sane enough to try and solve the situation, this time WITHOUT tea or crumpets. Patting Mira on the back, Cedric looked towards Ankah.
"Now, now, let's stop this argument. If this goes on, more people will just wake up, and we don't want Bush to wake up, do we?" asked Cedric, gesturing to a man on the far left corner, who was snoring loudly. Bush's first name was Gregory or something like that, and the man constantly claimed that he used to be the president of the United States, something the patients of Room #21 found hard to believe. When awake, he would constantly talk about waging war on other countries, and that was tiring. Everyone hated him. "Let's just go to sleep now, and finish this discussion tomorrow, when we're not as grumpy. Okay?"
