Deciding what they wanted to do, and how they wanted to do it, had probably been the most stressful decision of Michael’s life. Pointlessly stressful, probably. He knew he wanted their wedding to be special. They’d talked about the possibility of eloping and ended up deciding that it would be better to have an actual wedding for the benefit of their families and those they cared about.

And Michael had wanted to give Caspian the prom or homecoming dance that he’d talked about regretting never being able to attend. A wedding wasn’t the same, but it would be close enough.

Michael drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly, leaning over to press another kiss against his fiance’s face. “Okay. Let’s get married,” he agreed. It wouldn’t be pretty and there wouldn’t be cake, but more than anything, Michael wanted to be married to this man whom he’d grown to love more than life itself.

No, he didn’t expect things to be easy for them. Things would probably be very difficult, especially as they grew and things changed and the war continued, but they would work it out together, this Michael knew.
