"But some of them are a bit stuck up if you don't look like you belong." He smirked slightly. One of those was a regular place for him simply because they left him alone while he was getting tea. "Sadly some of them have developed issues with younger generations actually enjoying tea. I think they tend to say the word 'hipster' with a sneer." He rolled his eyes slightly. He thought that sentimentality was pointless.

"I was going to get some chai before I left so perhaps I will take that suggestion." A good latte was always a nice drink when you were annoyed.

"I don't look like I belong in a lot of places-- Doesn't keep me from being there. There's too much to life to let fitting in get in the way of being yourself and having a good time." Katrina snorted softly as she shook her head before tucking a strand of hair that had fallen loose from her ponytail back behind her ear.

"Name's Katrina, by the way-- Kat. It's what most people call me, anyways. Easier to say, faster to get out of the mouth when you're talking quick. Planning on getting else to go along with that chai, Mister..." She was fishing for information that she could tuck away to mull over later when she was alone, or maybe bored out of her mind between customers at work.

"I can think of a few you could appear to belong in but I would also surmise that you aren't quite old enough to be in them." He smirked, watching her as they spoke. He could tell she was fishing but there wasn't any harm in it and he'd always had a weakness for pretty eyes. "Kian," He bowed his head slightly. "Though I tend to hear Professor more than my actual name." That would either turn her off or she wouldn't care. Interesting either way.

"I hadn't decided on anything other than some tea. I only stopped in here to waste some time until the traffic cleared."

That drew a laugh from her lips, caught somewhere between bitterness and amusement. The amusement was something she hadn't expected after the way the past few weeks had gone, resentment making it far too easy to linger on that angry, irritable edge just waiting for something to set her off. She wanted to know how old he thought she was-- Possibly too young, considering he'd just tossed out a title.

How old did that make him?

"Now you've got me curious, Professor," she added that little bit of emphasis to her words, a light smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Where on earth could you possibly think that I might belong that I wouldn't be old enough to be in?"

"Now I could be wrong but I am going to guess that there are some nightclubs in town that wouldn't allow you in." There were a few more selective clubs that didn't let anyone in who wasn't over the legal drinking age. Not that he would admit to being in those sorts of clubs, the University didn't like that, but they were good for taking the edge off a bad day.

He was also guessing at her age. Given how good some young ladies were these days at making themselves look een younger there was no real way to tell exactly how old she was

"Their loss, not mine. There are plenty of interesting and exciting things to see around town." A number of which she could see without ever getting off of her bike. The promise of the trill from a fast ride was often more than enough to catch her attention, whereas a nightclub waxed and waned depending on a number of things-- Company, music, dress code...

"I'm going to hazard a guess that anyone who actually calls you 'Professor' doesn't get to see you in any of those places either. Saying you keep a fun side under that sweater-vest and tie?" Her brow quirked, eyes gleaming to match the soft smirk on lips painted bright pink.

"No. The University tends to frown on that quite a bit and I do rather like my job." He laughed softly, heading toward the counter so she could at least order his tea and pay for the other things he'd picked up. "I tend to find that keeping one's fun under wraps is best. At least when appearances must be kept up"

"Not everyone is worth knowing all of you so there is no reason to show everyone." It had worked better for him in the long run usually and given his previous issues it was much better now.

Not everyone is worth knowing all of you... His words stuck with her and she fell silent for a moment, shifting her own selections in her hands as she followed him towards the counter. She had thought that she'd found someone that she could let get to know her, but things had been so strained lately and that hurt was still lingering closer to the surface than she would've liked it.

"Sometimes the things that are the most fun are things that others frown upon. If I let what one person disapproved of hinder me I can't say I would be doing much of anything." Of course, she wasn't in a position where disapproval could cost her possible tenure--- Not that she knew whether or not he was.

"Where do you teach, Professor? What do you teach? Call me curious..."

"They often are. Usually because the people frowning do not understand what they're frowning at. It's never good to look down on someone for something they enjoy that doesn't hurt your or anyone else." He'd run into enough people who spent far too much time being angry about things they didn't understand.

"I teach a couple of things at DCU in the History department. Depends on the semester and what they need professors for. Summer is usually far slower."

"My--" Boyfriend. She was going to say that word, but it didn't feel right, instead stalling on her tongue before making it past her lips. Things had been so tense between she and James lately; both in uniform and out of it. It hurt to think about and, right now, maybe she was just better off not.

"Someone that I know was recently hired on to teach at Romano's-- I've heard they're looking for strong-minded, unique individuals to take on the task of teaching the next generation. Maybe something for someone like yourself to take a look at, if you're looking to branch out..." She stepped up to the counter once they'd made it through the line, peering at the menu briefly before ordering a matcha green tea latte for herself.

"I think I have heard the name but hadn't devoted much time to looking into Romano's." Mostly because, thanks to his salary, he hadn't been given much incentive to looking for somewhere else to work. "The school only recently opened did it not?"

He paid for his tea and his drink to go before pausing. "Do you mind if I pay for your drink Miss Kat? I thanks for your help." He was tempted to pay for it anyway just to see how she would react but something told her she would appreciate it more if he asked.

Her brows lofted as she paused, tilting her head to look up to him before nodding to the barista at the register that it was alright to add her drink on to his order. She kept a hold on her purchases, however, having set enough aside out of her last paycheck to afford that comfort on her own-- Not that she couldn't afford the latte as well, but if he was going to insist...

"Just recently had its grand opening, yes, and seems to be doing wonders for the community's youth already," she said without the slightest bit of sarcasm. From what she had seen everything seemed to be running smoothly considering it was also a recruitment center.

"I suppose if you're comfortable where you're at it wouldn't be worth looking into, but... I think the purple would look good on you, if you don't mind me saying." A smirk touched her lips as she reached out to take her cup from the counter as she set her tea supplies down.

He paid for everything and took his drink and purchases before stepping back. He was a bit surprised that she'd let him pay for it without saying anything but wasn't going to question it either.

The tea was a pleasant surprise though and he sipped it happily. If they used their own tea, and he suspected they did, then the things he picked up were going to be good as well.

"It's always good to know what schools are sending students to the University so it may be worth looking into even just on that basis." Sometimes private schools were better to work at anyway, depending on the school's views.

"You should look into it," she nodded, lifting her cup in his direction with a soft smirk on her lips before stepping back away from the counter.

"Thank you for the tea, Professor. Maybe I'll see you around? Decide you want more information on Romano's and maybe I can find someone willing to talk to you about it." Sometimes it was useful having connections. Even if she and James hadn't been getting along well, it wasn't like there weren't other agents in place at the school-- Generals, even; people capable of making recruitment decisions when it came to promising candidates.
