"Something to pass the time," he hoped. Al approached the side of Noah's bed and placed the case down on the floor. He shrugged the backpack off and propped it against Noah's nightstand. Empty handed now, he knelt in front of the case and a loud clicking could be heard as it was opened. There was a hallow thunk and twang as he removed a violin and bow and stood over Noah a bit to show him what the contents of the case had been. He froze mid-demonstration to take a long look at Noah.
"Do you feel better?" He kind of looked less scrunched up.

"Cool," Noah offered, and answered, "Yeah, little bit." He smiled a little to show that he could.

Al looked delighted that Noah could smile at all now. "Okay, I know this is nerdy as ********. Just ask me to stop or whatever if you get bored." He cleared his throat and stood tall and was clearly trembling a big before he wiggled his limbs to shake out the nerves. He hasn't done this in front of anyone living in a very, very long time so he picked a song that had always been his favourite and took the position. He slid his bow along the strings, generating a quiet sound at first before leaping right in with a solo violin rendition of Requiem of a Tower.

Noah managed a whisper of a laugh at the nerdy comment, then let himself relax and close his eyes to listen to the music. While he'd been indifferent to his piano lessons, he enjoyed music as a performance; his parents had preferred classical music, and all three children had had music lessons. It was like math, in a way, the measured progressions and the precise intervals. When Al had finished, Noah opened his eyes again and found that he was smiling. "You're good," he said.

There was a small pause at the end as if Al had forgotten where he even was. When Noah spoke, it seemed to startle him. He lowered his violin and bow to his side and approached Noah's bed. He turned and carefully sat on the edge. He had turned bright cherry red and looked down as if Noah had scolded him rather than complimented him. "Y-yeah. Please don't tell anyone else about this though."
"It's embarrassing," he decided to elaborate.

"Won't," Noah promised. "Didn't like, when Mom made me play piano. For people." He hissed a little at the motion, but kept his eyes open, watching Al.

"Thing is, I actually like it. Well, not in front of crowds but like. Well. Y'know?..." Al wasn't sure how to express how he felt about it. Just that he'd probably never live it down if other people found out. He did however visibly relax suddenly before looking over his shoulder at Noah. "I didn't know you played piano?" His tone questioning, uncertain if he'd heard that right.

"Just for playing," Noah agreed, understanding. He had never been quite as fond of the piano, but there had been moments, every once in a while, where it felt like the music was coming naturally, beautifully, and that had been nice. But more often it had been tedious. "M' not very good," he said, embarrassed.

"I doubt that," Al fussed. He turned his entire body to face Noah, drawing his leg up there but keeping his shoes off the bed instinctively. "You can show me once you're better?" He looked down thoughtfully as it dawned on him that Noah just said he didn't like an audience. "Or not, no pressure!"

"No, really ... " Noah looked a little distressed, but he relaxed when Al qualified his statement. "Maybe," he said, doubtful.

"It's okay," Al smiled.
"Oh sh- I almost forgot," he looked startled, "I brought a backpack of stuff too. For like, once you no longer have crispy fingers." He bent far over the bedside and set his violin back in the case. With free hands now, he grabbed the backpack and sat back down with it.
His body was turned to Noah again as he rummaged. "I'm not sure what you can eat yet but I pillaged the hell out of the vending machines; I got crisps, bars of chocolate, candy, some soda that might be warm..." He switched pockets, "I also got you a colouring book and some travel size board games too." There was more but it didn't really help mentioning if Noah still was too hurt to do anything about it.

Noah watched with some surprise as Al pulled things out of his backpack. "Thanks," he said warmly. "Gonna be here, like ... days more." It would be helpful to have something to do once he hurt less and could move more. The IV was still in, but he looked forward to being able to eat again. It wasn't like he was hungry, but food sounded nice.

Al reloaded the backpack and sat it aside out of the way, "how's Laz holding up?"

"Not growling so much." Noah smiled a tiny bit. "Not ... telling me to shut up. As much."

Al lit up, "progress!" He felt relieved, Noah was so strong to survive such a thing and even recover a great deal from it. But that begged the question, "do you know when you'll be out?" He doubted it, but who knows what the techs might have been able to determine.
