Icarus shrugged. "Well, as of a couple of days ago, I'm from around here," he quipped, grinning as he walked alongside Katie; he had to admit, the girl was pretty hot - had a nice voice, too.

"Yeah, Dad's always been into myths of all sorts. I think the main reason they named me Icarus was my tendency to play with matches and get up on high places I shouldn't have been able to see, let alone get to," Icarus answered cheerfully, sitting next to her and adding as an afterthought, "That, and I had a tendency to make bird noises."

"Really? Interesting; I usually had trouble sleeping unless there was a candle or something nearby, and even then I had a tendency to sleepwalk over to the front of the fireplace," Icarus offered back cheerfully. "On a related side note, did you know that cooked me smells surprisingly delicious? Sort of like chicken wrapped in bacon... and now I'm hungry. Any idea when lunch is?"

(Mmm... bacon-wrapped chicken... *drools* ...Must ask Dad if we can have that again sometime...
On a side note, I don't think we ever clarified: exactly which of our two characters know they're mutants - yours, mine, neither, or both?)

(It is... trust me on that one. xd And sure, works for me!)

"...I may have been curious about what burnt human flesh felt like and set myself on fire once... or twice... or three times... or a dozen or so times... okay, more times than I can count," Icarus admitted sheepishly in reply to her question; granted, most of that was him using his powers, but she didn't necessarily need to know that. He frowned slightly himself at hearing the obvious bias in his teacher's lecture, but said nothing, instead making a mental note to booby-trap his desk... or his hair... or his pants. Probably his pants, since he didn't particularly care whether this particular teacher's a** caught on fire.

"Meh, me, animals, the occasional a*****e, anything remotely flammable and within arm's reach and a few things that aren't... I like fire," Icarus answered matter-of-factly. "And yeah, you should probably ask me at the end of the day." Eventually, class ended, and the students filed out, Icarus starting to wander off aimlessly even as a startled scream from the history classroom indicated that the teacher's pants had spontaneously combusted. "So... where do I go now?" he asked Katie, looking around in puzzlement and seemingly oblivious to the small amount of smoke coming out of the classroom they'd just been in.

"Art and Mythology," Icarus answered in reply, smiling cheerfully. "Now, lead the way - the sooner we get to gym, the sooner the class can be over, and the sooner we can get to art so I can express myself via arson!" He paused. "Oh, right, arson is frowned upon here... maybe pictures of arson, then?"

Icarus walked out shortly afterward, humming "Through the Fire and Flames", only to stop and look Katie up and down, taking note of her too-small clothes; he himself was dressed in a black muscle shirt and red gym shorts. "...Not that those don't look good on you, but would the part of the school that's in charge of gym clothes be filled with pervs, by any chance?" he asked curiously after a moment.
