Danny shook her head. "It's not all bad down there," she replied. "There are some wonderful little communities down there. But a lot of them are becoming absorbed in large empires. There's a lot of power struggles... A lot of corrupt governments. I don't know about the other four, but Manga, Dawn, me... we learned not to trust them. Even though they say the king of this Isle is kind and just, I just..." She trailed off, glancing at her companion. "... What's wrong?" She couldn't identify it, but something was amiss. Something was definitely bothering Aila.

Aila shook her head, banishing her thoughts and focusing back on Danny. "Uh yeah.. yeah I'm fine.. Sorry." She forced a smile that probably looked halfway genuine and finished off her bread and cheese. "I guess I'm just kinda getting lost in my own head today.." She let out a nervous chuckle.

Danny just stared at her for a minute before smiling brightly. "Alright." Her gaze went to the drafts and then back to Aila. "Hey. What's it like, being Bonded?" she asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity. Danny didn't want to make her uncomfortable, and this was the first topic change she thought of. Hopefully it was a good one.

Aila was quiet as she considered the right way to explain to the Lander on what it was like to be Bonded. "Its both the most amazing and worst thing to have ever happened to me. Its nearly indescribable. Its like you are no longer of one mind, but two, or in my case, three. No matter how far you are, you have another conscious that can look at your problem from an outside view and give you advice. But at the same time, you are vulnerable to their pain and suffering... and when your Bonded is killed..." Tears clouded her vision as her heart tightened with memories of Daria. At the same time that the surge of emotion overcame her, she felt Jondayla and Maera offering their support and hearts to ease her ache. A ghostly smile graced her lips as she wiped the tears off her face. "Sorry..." She apologized.
"Anyways... Most people accept the Bond, but... sometimes they reject it... Though that's fairly rare. It, nowadays, is more likely for the Azrein to reject the feeling of having to Choose, and because of that, their hearts twist and they're sense of right and wrong is tarnished, and that is how we got the Sixers... The Evil Ones..." She sighed softly.

Danny had to try really hard to prevent herself from just wrapping her arms around Aila when the tears started. "Sounds a lot like love," she replied, leaning back against a tree. "Offering a piece of yourself and hoping it's accepted." She took a bite of her bread, chewing it slowly. Then she sat up, eating her food more quickly. It was good. It had been a while since she'd had a decent meal, even a simple one of bread and cheese.

Aila gave a small nod as she watched the other. "From what I've experienced, its pretty close." She responded softly as she fidgeted with the hem of her pants, unsure of what else to say.

Danny froze in her hurried eating, yellow-green eyes fixing on Aila as she swallowed her current bite. This time she didn't catch herself in time; her arms enveloped the farmer and drew them together. Her hold was gentle, something easily broken out of, but she would hold Aila in them until a protest was made. No, Danny was no knight in shining armor, but she could at least comfort an ailing heart.

At first Aila sank unthinkingly into Danny's arms, feeling comforted and safe in her arms. Then realization and Aila backed away quickly, getting to her feet and backing up defensively. "Uh.. we should probably start our travel again... especially if we want to sleep indoors tonight..." She hid the blush that furiously colored her cheeks.

Danny released the farmer the instant she pulled away, just smiling and dusting off her pants as she got to her feet. "Right." The Skh'et made no attempts to move closer to Aila, just waiting for Maera and Charli to rejoin them from her spot.

Aila scratched at her arm and grabbed the bag that held their food and waited nervously for Maera and Charli to come. When they approached, Aila strapped the bag back before heading to Danny to boost her up, keeping her face averted from the girl, and at any place but the other's magnificently sculpted arms.

Danny smiled sheepishly in a wordless apology for making her uncomfortable, but she wasn't sure if Aila saw it with her averted gaze. After Aila helped her up and went back to Maera, she sighed quietly and rested her head against Charli's neck. She'd made the farmer uncomfortable... the Skh'et's expression simply appeared thoughtful, but below the surface she was berating and criticizing herself. Why'd she have to be so clingy and make others uncomfortable? A simple hand to the shoulder and some soothing words would've been much more appropriate. They'd just met!

Charli waited until they started moving before reaching out to the Skh'et's mind. "What seems to be the problem, young one?" He probed in his easy going way as he tilted his head back to look at her with one large green eye.
Aila sighed and leaned against Maera's neck in a similar fashion. You should let yourself go... Don't take what happened in the past and let it keep you from loving today. Maera advised at the same time. Aila sighed. Its just not that easy, Maera... You know how bad it hurt.."

Danny blinked when she heard a voice in her head, taking a minute to answer. "I just... I don't know, I feel bad. It was instinctual, but what I did... I'm pretty sure it touched a nerve. I don't want to hurt her." She sighed and closed her eyes, burying her face into Charli's mane. "I don't know what to do... I just... want to make her smile." Then again, she tried to make virtually everyone smile. Even if just by a little, she wanted to make others happier than she was--than she'd ever be. But this... she wanted Aila to smile more than most.

Charli snorted out a sigh and shook his massive head. Miss Aila... she's been through a lot. The last one that made her want to smile had ears like yours too... but soon left her and her love behind. She don't trust easy... No Ma'am.. To much hurt in her heart. It will take time and patience with Miss Aila... yes ma'am..." He said, his lumbering voice matching his hoofsteps, his voice reminiscent of an old country farmer.
Aila sighed at Maera's blank response, knowing that her Bond was just trying to help, but was only succeeding in letting her fret more about the decisions she was making.

"Been through a lot... I guess I can relate to that..." Hiding her gender since she was eight, always moving, never able to settle down. "Patience... I'm not a very patient person. At least, I don't think I am..." It was hard to tell under all the lies she'd made and acted through. It was hard to tell what was the true her amongst it all... "Ugh. My life's way too complicated."
Then it finally hit her that she was talking telepathically to the stallion. "... Hey. How are we talking like this? I thought..." Only Bonded and their Chosen could do this, right?
