A kingdom can be easily incorporated around Reeds. As in Reeds would be a part of this larger Kingdom.
And as for profiles, I'm not deleting them. I'm going to move them to a Profile recycling bin to make room for more profiles. When I have to go through 3/5 pages of profiles to find mine, and noticing that a lot of people create profiles, and sometimes don't even RP with the character really grinds my gears. I expect everyone not on the crew to post their characters. I'm giving 2 weeks to a month, depending on the flow of people. The reason why activity is dying, is because Gaia roleplaying itself is changing. People are becoming more literate, and want more for their buck (Meaning if they post big, they want bigger rewards)
We need to make a guild people want to join. Romance RPs are dying. People want more than just pairing up and waiting to die.

I am of the opinion that Reeds becoming a kingdom would kind of defeat the purpose of it. Reeds is supposed to be a place for different races and creatures to mix. It's on an island that's based on that idea in a world full of kingdoms. It's what sets Reeds apart in the first place.
It's not changing. There are always going to be people who are literate and illiterate. We might be headed into a stage where the illiterates are growing up a bit and typing better, but they're bound to grow out of Gaia eventually, and we'll be left with the illiterates who will then grow up and realize that typn liek dis is totes not ok!!!
Literate people always want more "for their buck". The more I have to work with, the more I can manage to throw back. I have my bad days, and I have my fits of inspiration, but I always strive for at least a small paragraph. You can't be all about being literate if you want to work on activity. That's narrowing the field; being unfriendly to illiterates is going to cut your profit margin, if you'll excuse the metaphor. Illiterates are still the dominate force on the site, considering it's engineered for preteens and teens.
Romance RPs are not "dying". They might be going out of style, but that's not all Reed's is. We don't just "pair up and wait to die". We make events and story arcs and throw in twists. We need to become more involved with each other, I will admit, but not everything is romance.
You're kind of all over the place here. You need to narrow your argument and decide what it is that you want done, and what actually needs to be done.

Well my thing is Reed's is part of the capital where in allows all monsters to gather. Putting into a kingdom is like giving one group to control it completely.
We usually put profiles that the RPer is not using in the archives.
I would like to make it more action, but people don't seem to jump in.

angelmage99 Well we've tried to expand it a bit, do you would you like to see more? What kind of things would you like to see? I would kinda like to be able to have characters that don't have to either be involved in the school or working somewhere in the city. I mean, I know that helps add to the story and makes sure that people use those areas but it would be kinda interesting for it to be optional for at least one of your characters, like if you have more than one then you have that option or something. This may be just me because I like the idea of a drifter character working odd jobs or something though ^^;;. I like the idea of the battle area. I tend to like rp with romance and fighting so I would like to be able to go between the two or even have other aspects tossed in as well. Since the whole idea of the place was basically a place for magical creatures to get away maybe, instead of making it a kingdom, you could just expand the city a bit? Or even have the kingdom but have multiple races as the head instead of just one? I don't really know, I'm just tossing out ideas that you guys may find interesting here to try to help out a little lol.

Right now we have two city areas and then a 'other outside of city' area. What kind of things would you like to see if we expand on it? Would you like us to expand and make one of the 'other' area's into its own subform?

That's why I mentioned the idea of allowing people with more than one character have the option of allowing one of them to do neither things. I have no idea what to add to expand it honestly, I don't feel that I've actually been around here enough to be able to fairly suggest something that a lot of people would be interested in area wise.

They would have responded if the mail icon came up. My only answer of course to that is that they didn't see it (like it didn't pop up) or that you may have not really sent it (I do that all the time). Anyways. I'm sure that both of them will allow you to join their class without notification.

I know I'm not here very often, but I do feel like I need to add my little rant in here.
I was really active here in months past/years past...Whatever it was. My point is that I'm not a newb here. I remember when you tried to do this months ago. To be frank, it didn't really work. You swooped in and tried to take control. It was similar plot to this; I remember some effort to try to convert the old guild 'Peachland' into the alternate non-school part of Reed's. That never happened. Your 'kingdom' that you propose now sounds very similar to this.
I think the point of this guild is to be more casual. As mentioned in posts before, Reed's is a good place for newcomers to roleplayer as well as literates who just wish to take a break and post casually. It's nice to go from an intense roleplay (typing 5+ paragraphs) to coming here and have a light fun, quick roleplay (1-2 paragraphs per post). That's not to say Reed's can't have a plot; it just shouldn't overrule. Starting over would be pointless. You might as well make another guild. We need a new generation of students to interact with; all the students when the guild was super active are all grown now via timeskip. I think a battle system would also work nicely; this is a mystical world afterall. [on a side note...Aren't many of the children born into the roleplay are almost of age themselves to go to Reed's?]
As for the outside world, I don't think Angel has ever really restricted what we could or couldn't do. Anybody is free to make their own little plot in their kingdom/lands. Instead of starting over and making a kingdom, why not just start a plot that not every has to join in on? A huge war amongst the humans just began, threatening the lives of many witches and wizards as well as other non-human creatures. They must either choose to join the fight or immigrate to other worlds for refuge. How would these other kingdoms cope with the refugees? Would the refugees all get along? Would the school host some of them? Or would some even participate in the fight and choose sides? Obviously just an example, but my point being whatever the whole crew decides will be polished and make more sense. I just don't think it needs to be so extreme as completely starting over.
More just needs to be done to integrate the students with the outside world. Instead of just boring classes. I could take some of the students on an epic treasure hunt with Droh or some such.
Your overhaul sounds too intense. Also- its the middle of winter. Activity picks up in the summer when people don't have school.

Yes, we do need to work on the guild. I can't disagree with that. However, I feel as if my opinion, along with everyone else posting here, is being ignored.
Rai, I cannot believe that after all these posts about working on this together you sent out another announcement.
Stop. Take a breath. And wait a bit so we can work this all out!
First, the kingdom idea appears to be out, though I suppose we could have a vote. A war, as mentioned by Minty, does sound like a good idea. Since this guild has always functioned as a part of a secret world behind a 'veil' and has a few explanations of the 'veil wars' (which was set hundreds of years ago), we could simply have new bout regarding that idea.
Second, there will always be a possibility of having to go through multiple pages to find your character, as there is always the chance of having a hundred or more members like we do currently. That's what the directory is for.
Third, one of the largest reasons this guild became successful was because of its diversity in literacy. I joined at a time when my posts were two or three sentences; now I can crank out posts with a couple paragraphs. However, literacy does usually come with a price. Longer, more thoughtful posts will take more time, so activity might sway a bit. We should keep all levels of literacy in the guild.
p.s. Yes, Minty, a lot of the kids are going to be ready to attend Reed's within the month, I believe~

I sometimes have difficulty trying to transition myself into an existing rp so this is very much my fault. I want to work on being more active while I still have free time though so I do plan to try. ^_^; Maybe? There really is a lot here already so maybe I'm just being picky. I did notice that some places were a little dead compared to others so maybe that could be worked on somehow? I'm not sure. Also, I agree with other people posting here.. I like that you don't have to do full on lit posts all the time. My rp is varied. I really don't have the time for multiple paragraph posts most days and sometimes I just can't think of that much stuff to add at the time. I really like having the option of if I want to do a full on lit post or not.
